<p>Rainfall-induced landslides may pose a significant risk to communities and infrastructures. Such landslides are substantially impacted by the fluvial systems, therefore the continuous monitoring of the seasonal erosive potentials of these rivers are crucial. However, such environmental conditions the direct in-situ investigation is often a challenging task. Therefore, the present study aims at providing a brief overview of the use of ambient seismic noise for the dynamic monitoring of fluvial systems and a discussion about the preliminary results obtained from a Brazilian case study.</p><p>Data were acquired with single short-period (2 Hz) seismometers, REFTEK-130 data-logger and GPS lock, in dry and rainy days installed within a seasonal streams in Ribeirão Contagem watershed of the Federal district of Brazil. The pre-processing of ambient noise records include conversion from REFTEK to mini-seed format and saving data in units of velocity after removing the instrumental response. Then, the frequency content (spectrograms, percentiles), waveform characteristics (envelope) and polarization attributes of changes in ambient noise wave-fields induced by bed-load transport and water flow in dry and flooding days are analyzed.</p><p>A prominent increase in mean probabilistic power spectral density (PPSD) values are observed during rainy days within a frequency range of 10 Hz to 100 Hz. The polarization analysis shows that most of the recorded energy arrived from the river side. It is concluded that seismic attributes have their relation with the river generated ambient noise and can be used for the remote monitoring of such fluvial systems. Future studies dedicated to the dense surficial and geodetic surveying (also with UAV) are recommend for the detailed quantification of these seasonal river dynamics.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Seismic records; bed-loads; spectrograms; percentile; envelope</p>

The territorial image is formed both purposefully by the subjects of image-making, and spontaneously-based on the influence of information content published in various media. The purpose of the research is to analyze the image of the Republic of Mordovia in the information space of the Volga Federal district. The image of the territory formed by external target audiences by means of news materials is studied using the method of case study and content analysis of publications: “Volga news”, “Federal Press” news of the PFD, “Pravda PFD”. The authors conclude that modern reality is perceived through the prism of the information field created by mass media. The media creates images filled with certain data, facts, colored by emotions, on the basis of which representations, opinions, judgments, and assessments are subsequently formed. The media play a significant role in shaping the territorial image, especially for external target audiences who are not familiar with the region and do not have their own assessment knowledge and experience. Most of the information content about the Republic in the studied media is related to the main thematic blocks: politics, economy, social sphere, culture (art, sports). Moreover, if in the publications “Volga news” and “Pravda PFD” mention of the region prevails in the economic block, then in the publications “Federal Press” and “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” - in the political one. The Volga news publication significantly dominates the rest in terms of the number of publications about Mordovia. The content of publications is mostly positive and neutral related to the issues of economic development of the territory and the preparation and holding of the world football championship. Pravda PFD mentions the Republic in the context of news from neighboring territories, most of the publications date back to 2018, but here the context is related to the Republic's positions among the regions of the PFD in various ratings. The publication “Federal-Press” forms a generally reflective image of the territory, focusing on the negative aspects of regional life. “Nezavisimaya Gazeta”, giving priority to political news, maintains a neutral and reflective context of publications, paying attention to the key problems of the territory. Thus, the desired image of the region is counter-dictated to the image broadcast by the media through various information channels, so it is necessary to constantly monitor the information space and timely correction of the broadcast materials.

Subject. This article discusses the issues related to the creation of a technology of modeling and optimization of economic, financial, information, and logistics cluster-cluster cooperation within a federal district. Objectives. The article aims to propose a model for determining the optimal center of industrial agglomeration for innovation and industry clusters located in a federal district. Methods. For the study, we used the ant colony optimization algorithm. Results. The article proposes an original model of cluster-cluster cooperation, showing the best version of industrial agglomeration, the cities of Samara, Ulyanovsk, and Dimitrovgrad, for the Volga Federal District as a case study. Conclusions. If the industrial agglomeration center is located in these three cities, the cutting of the overall transportation costs and natural population decline in the Volga Federal District will make it possible to qualitatively improve the foresight of evolution of the large innovation system of the district under study.

Mining planning and its correct sequencing are essential to facilitate the exploitation of minerals both economically and environmentally, thus ensuring the feasibility of the mining in operational and economic terms. The small geological complexity or the low aggregate value of a mineral deposit tends to result in the planning stages being neglected, so the mining begins without the necessary detailing or it is only scheduled for a short period of time. Thus, in order to ensure a sustainable sequence of operations, and to predict the environmental impacts caused by mining activities and suggest options that would allow the establishment of mitigation measures for these impacts, the feasibility of the technical and economic utilization was evaluated for an occurrence of bentonite in the Bañado de Medina deposit located in the Department of Cerro Largo, Uruguay, respecting the local environment in the process so as to give the project a strong character of sustainability.

Shared psychotic disorder, characterized by shared delusion among two or more subjects (termed “Folie à deux,” “trois,” etc.), is often associated with strong religious beliefs or social isolation, factors creating strong psychological sympathy. Recently, we treated a rare familial case of “Folie à quatre” in central Tokyo without such influences. The proband was a schizophrenia patient and younger brother within monozygotic twins. Positive symptoms were “transmitted” to remaining family members, his elder brother, mother, and father father, in a relatively short period of three months. Although the pathophysiology of these positive symptoms (delusions and hallucinations) remains unclear, the transmission pattern suggests the primacy of social and environmental factors (and/or their interaction), while genetics appeared less influential in this “Folie à famille.” Although undiagnosed psychoses in the whole family cannot be excluded, they did not share the other negative schizophrenia symptoms of the proband. A strong familial connection appeared to be the most important factor for the common delusion and hallucination.

Accurate dynamic characteristics of super high-rise buildings serve as a guide in their construction and operation. Ground-based real aperture radar (GB-RAR) techniques have been applied in monitoring and analyzing the dynamic characteristics of different buildings, but only few studies have utilized them to derive the dynamic characteristics of super high-rise buildings, especially those higher than 400 m and under construction. In this study, we proposed a set of technical methods for monitoring and analyzing the dynamic characteristics of super high-rise buildings based on GB-RAR and wavelet analysis. A case study was conducted on the monitoring and analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the Wuhan Greenland Center (WGC) under construction (5–7 July 2017) with a 636 m design height. Displacement time series was accurately derived through GB-RAR and wavelet analysis, and the accuracy reached the submillimeter level. The maximum horizontal displacement amplitudes at the top of the building in the north–south and east–west directions were 18.84 and 15.94 mm, respectively. The roof displacement trajectory of the WGC was clearly identified. A certain negative correlation between the temperature and displacement changes at the roof of the building was identified. Study results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for the dynamic monitoring and analysis of super high-rise buildings with noninvasive and nondestructive characteristics.
