Conflicts can be found in almost every area of human interaction, but the notion that every interaction needs to involve conflict is wrong. Because humans have the ability to develop relationships, relationships, and skills in such a way without causing conflict. When examined further, one of the causes of conflict is the existence of negative perceptions about themselves and others. This perception then changes the situation from simple to complex, the namely open conflict involving many individuals or communities as well as in the church. Departing from this reality, the authors conducted a study in one community that served as a model in applying group dynamics methods. That is, all forms of treatment and response to the research illustrate that the same thing can be done in the center of the church as a pastoral action. The method of group dynamics is a concept that describes the process of a group that is always developing and can adapt to a constantly changing situation.  Here is the importance of this study, namely to determine the extent to which the application of group dynamics as a form of pastoral action can overcome the constraints of personal relationships so that through the application of this method, each person is encouraged to improve his ability to resolve conflicts.

A representative enquiry based on sample selection was undertaken among Hungarian tourists in Austria with the object of investigating the general attitude taken up with regard to conciliar renewal and pastoral action. The truth or falsity of the relevant hypotheses was tested in five sets of questions: there were questions with general secular reference ; questions with secular reference concerning Hungary; questions with religious and general reference, but concerning Hungary; questions with reference to the Council and religious renewal in general; and questions relating to liturgical reform. In addition to several detailed results and particular conclusions the fol lowing basic trends were verified: 1. Pastoral action should, according to the faithful, come to grips with many more problems of a general kind as problems which stand in relationship to specifically new experiences in the life of the Church, i.e. the presuppositions are the most important thing in this particular field. 2. In this sector, however, it seems that there is a great amount of lee way to be made up. Pastoral action therefore should be on the one hand very intensive and on the other hand be well-balanced, pedagogic and careful in its method of application, i.e. it should ensure the quickest possible transition without being precipitate. 3. The greatest, and perhaps the most dangerous, deficiency in the religious life of Hungarian Catholics seems to lie in the field of religious education, religious culture, information and knowledge. The long spiritual isolation, the lack of objective means of spiritual orientation and of religious cultural nourishment, the impossibility of keeping up to date with the spiritual development of the Church as a whole are probably leading not only to a lack of knowledge but are also bringing about changes at the deepest levels of the human psyche.

From the fifth through to the eighth century an ecclesiastical official, the apocrisiarius, streamlined the effective governance of both Church and Empire by serving as the pope's permanent representative at the imperial Byzantine court. The letters of a former apocrisiarius, Pope Gregory i, serve as the best sources for uncovering the duties of this office and its benefits to the Church and the Empire. Investigating this office under Gregory emphasises the independent ambassadorial mandate given to these men and highlights the vital role of personal relationships in the conduct of imperial business.

The study aims to determine the latest understanding of the place and role of culture in Christian anthropology. The author proceeds from the lack of translation of the works of Chrysostomos Stamulis and the absence among Ukrainian religious scholars and theologians of ideas about the range of transformations of the fundamental ideas of Orthodox theology in modern Greek theological thought. Scientific novelty lies in defining the place and role of culture within the transformations of contemporary Greek Orthodox anthropology. The newest approach to understanding of culture as an expression of the divine in man provides the Orthodox anthropology with new vectors of development. The study indicates that the Orthodoxy continues to play significant role in formation of the Greek nation. Within this context, the dialogue with culture initiated by Chrysostomos Stamulis becomes an important factor of this formation and search for identity. Culture, in all forms of its expression, appears not only as a form of spiritual secular being, but also as the deep essence of man, one of the aspects of the image and the likeness to the God, that encourages man to go beyond the boundaries of everyday routine, and with the ability to admire Beauty, to reach the state of Love. The theologian is trying to demonstrate that presence of Christ in man cannot be measured only by man's presence at the liturgy or involvement in the life of the church, but that extent of man's freedom is also an important factor. Man is not an angel whose mission is solely to perform the will of the God. Man is the image and the likeness of the God, man is graced with mind, freedom, creativity and love. With them, man is the creator of our world, through culture, art and science, as well as through multiple social and personal relationships. Chrysostomos Stamulis unveils significant culture formative potential of the Orthodox anthropology, in which is formed the kind of man who is able to see good, beauty, love of the world created by the God, and through herself she affirms them in the outside world boldly starting a dialogue with it. And both culture and art play important role in this dialogue.

Abstract: The concrete pastoral action of the latin-american church, in the last decades, has been characterized by a diminishing of the relationship between faith and politics. The same can not be observed, however, in the theological reflection of the continent. To overcome the growing lap between faith and action, this article analyzes the relations between faith and politics in the theological and anthropological cosmovisions of the past in order to enhance their high significance for the actual context of the church. The church, nowadays, is facing a new “ecological” cosmovision. The lessons of the past, the historical action of Jesus and this new cosmovision illuminate the steps for the present.

There have been multiple national calls for curricular reform in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including a need to instill democratic skills in students. Democratic skill building can be embedded in STEM classrooms through intentional “deliberative pedagogies” that include communication, collaboration, and application of information. We developed and implemented a deliberative pedagogy, Deliberative Democracy (DD), for introductory majors and nonmajors undergraduate biology courses and took a longitudinal, qualitative research approach to understand students' experiences and perceptions of DD. We asked students to respond to open-ended survey questions regarding DD at two time points and conducted semi-structured follow-up interviews. All data were iteratively open-coded using content analysis. Students' perceptions of DD were lasting and generally positive, including self-reported themes related to DD promoting their awareness of the “real-world applications of science,” and increased “scientific literacy.” Negative perceptions of DD were largely related to issues with “group dynamics.” We detected differences between majors' and nonmajors' perceptions of DD, including in regard to scientific literacy and class time use. DD is a replicable pedagogy that can assist in instilling democratic skills in biology students.

Worldwide, church membership is decreasing. A decline in the number of young adults that attend church services is also evident. The purpose of the research was to determine whether the application of a well-established body of knowledge of marketing theories and principles could be used by churches to encourage young adults to return to the church. The application of services marketing to the church as a non-profit organisation is discussed by focussing on non-physical and physical atmospheric cues in the church’s servicescape that could enhance church attendance. A quantitative approach was used by testing the opinions of 200 church service attendees of different denominations. The findings indicated that certain elements in the servicescape of a church may be useful in attracting young adults. It was found that music is a strong determinant of whether young adults attend church services, followed by layout and design of the church and then by the signs and symbols used in the church. Females reported significantly higher levels of positive perceptions concerning the layout and design. Although the research showed that some marketing elements, such as a positive servicescape, could improve church attendance, other personal elements such as forming personal relationships with fellow Christians and God need to be further explored.

From the ecclesiastical praxis it seems that preaching faces hindrances caused by negative perceptions, regardless of the good intentions of preachers and the interdependence between prayer and preaching. There is a vast difference between hearing sermons and listening to sermons. In the light of this problematic praxis, the following research question has been formulated: To what extent do preachers equip their listeners in a dialogue situation to listen profoundly with the object to influence the perceptions of listeners about the preacher and the preaching? In order to address this research question, the problem is investigated by taking into account the present practical theological vantage points concerning this field. This research field is further explored by trying to get a grasp on metatheoretical perspectives from the fields of Social Psychology and Communication Sciences. The author tries to investigate the difficult process of forming perceptions as well as the selective nature of perceptions. In an investigation into normative vantage points, perspectives from Acts 17 and 19 are explored with regard to the role of dialogue in Paul’s preaching. The researcher comes to the conclusion that negative perceptions are indeed endangering the ecclesiastical praxis and can even cause listeners to leave the church. Preachers should utilise dialogue in preparing their sermons; focusing on the dialogic nature of preaching in the context of the liturgy. In addition, preachers should endeavour to stimulate feedback after delivering of their sermons in order to rectify fallacious perceptions. Congregations should become communities nurtured by profound communication.
