This article examines the bulk funding debate and concludes, first, that it is the injection of extra money, rather than the mechanism of bulk funding itself, which has allowed some schools to enhance their offerings. Secondly, it argues that in having taken on the responsibilities of governorship (including becoming employers of their children’s teachers), parents have been diverted from the more important role of engagement with their children’s learning, in partnership with teachers. An historical overview of the vigorous debate over bulk funding is also provided, from its inception with Tomorrow’s Schools up until the present, in view of its promised demise under current government policy. The article also presents a case study of a series of events at Colenso High School, Napier, where teachers, with support from the community, caused the Board of Trustees to reverse their decision to opt into bulk funding (the Fully Funded Option).

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused many new challenges for educational institutions. Most schools and universities have been transforming the learning mode into an online platform and it leaves teachers and students in a challenging situation. The existence of English community which helped to provide exposure and practice toward English learning is postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Online English community as an alternative to replace English community has not been observed well before. Its flexibility in learning is assumed that it can enhance a better engagement in the English learning activity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of the online English community during COVID-19 pandemic. Fifteen university students that are involved in one online English community participated in the research. The researchers chose the sample by using purposive sampling. The data was collected through questionnaire and interview and the method that is used is qualitative research with a case study design. The researchers found that there are at least 3 roles of online English community during COVID-19 pandemic.

This case study aimed at investigating the role of self-efficacy in students’ recount text especially in the area of writing as one of the most difficult skills in learning English. Writing difficulties faced by the students are not only based on their cognitive skill but also their own efficacy beliefs. Three problems can be found related to self-efficacy beliefs in English writing. They are related with confidence to write anxiety, and the third problem is about the students’ interest. The participants of this study are three students from a Senior High School in Indramayu. The data were obtained from three data collection: questionnaire, writing test, and also the interview. The result of this study shows that the participants of this study perceived mastery experience accounted for the greatest proportion in their writing ability. It can be seen from how students rate their confidence and given overall feelings about the way to write successfully. Social persuasions and physiological states also were influential while working on writing. Meanwhile, the common experience did not predict too much in students' writing ability. Ultimately, the results of this research concluded that self-efficacy has an important role in students’ ability in writing.

The article describes the cooperation of non-governmental actors conducted by Christian High School 1 Salatiga and the Institute of Chinese Language Course "Sha Hua" by OCA (Overseas Chinese Affairs). This article is the beginning of a process of cooperation to the success achieved from the cooperation between Christian High School 1 Salatiga and the Institute of Chinese Language Course "Sha Hua" With OCA (Overseas Chinese Affairs) in the improvement of human resources as development indicators by displaying a different dimension. This article also describes the cooperation Christian High School 1 Salatiga and the Institute for Language Course Mandarin "Sha Hua" which embodies the development of education through scholarships, cooperation model performed by actors non-government (in this case Christian High School 1 Salatiga and the Institute for Language Course Mandarin "Sha Hua") to the role of education to national development. Perspective theory used to analyze the cooperation of non-governmental actors is the theory of globalization, international cooperation theory and the theory of social capital (social capital). The method used was a case study (case study). From the data analysis found that: First, cooperation between non-governmental actors is made up of trust fosters a strong commitment to the same goal, and it allows the understanding that has been formed is not easy to be stopped just because of interrelated to one another; Secondly, the State is a partner cooperation between non-governmental actors become the most important thing to consider in a partnership; and Third, education is very important role in human development.

Junior and Senior High School is the period for what we called unstable of “Anak Baru Gede (ABG) ”. Application of high technology like internet, is the ordinary things for students of Junior and Senior High School in Yogyakarta, which is used for doing their homework. Nevertheless, high tech is usedfor looking friends through Facebook, Twitter, etc as well. Nowadays, ABG are always curious of the new things, that lead them to inappropriate research. Even more, lack of parents concern is impacted to immoral behavior. Besides, negative environment gives the fundamental factor to immoral behavior as well. Hence, it effected to mentally and morally degradation. The objective o f this research is for identifying the role of society to ABGs mischievousness in Yogyakarta. This research is used qualitative approach with case study 's methodology to obtain data and description related to ABG s mischievousness in Yogyakarta. Next, is using Logistic Regression analysis to analyze the connection. The result is Y=4. 7451.054 X equation. Hence, it concluded that increased one unit of society's role will decrease the degree of ABG s mischievousness by 1.054.

The chapter provides a theoretical framework for understanding learning activities, centering on two key aspects: (1) the capture and representation of activities and (2) mechanisms for scaffolding the design process. The chapter begins by describing how information can be abstracted from learning activities via different forms of representation (models, iconic diagrams, textual case studies, etc.), which are defined here as ‘mediating artefacts.’ It discusses how different artefacts can be used to inform the process of designing a new learning activity. It provides an illustration of the theoretical arguments developed in the chapter by summarizing some of the findings from relevant research on learning design and uses the DialogPlus toolkit as a case study and example of a mediating artefact that can be used to support the design of a learning activity. The toolkit includes examples of learning activities (i.e., representations of activities as outlined in 1 above) as well as guidelines and support (i.e., mechanisms for scaffolding the design process as outline in 2 above). The chapter argues that this approach to learning design, which centres on the concept of mediating artefacts and their role in the design process, can be used as a descriptive framework for describing the dynamics, processes, and different aspects involved in learning design.

The authors investigated technologization of educational process in high school and formation of interactive communicative environment for professionally oriented learning. Analysis of the problems of cases use in modern teaching practice was conducted. Methods of questionnaires, empirical data generalization, theoretical analysis of case study, justification of approaches to its technological effectiveness, “dead case”, findings generalization, defining prospects of further problem consideration were used. The authors identified the features of case study technological implementation and developed the “dead” case-based study algorithm for development of future lecturers’ professional skills. The conditions of the effective use of case technology in high school were defined. The authors proved the integral character of the case technology.
