At present, in the global economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, the development and operation of distance learning and student education are more relevant than ever. The COVID-19 crisis, in addition to the world pandemic, has dealt a devastating blow to the economy of the state and organisations. Insufficient level of research support, imperfection of organisational structure and organisation of management of scientific and technical activities in IT projects necessitate revision and improvement of the existing management system of such projects. The purpose of the study is to develop comprehensive models to increase the objectivity of the role assessment of the applicants' competences during the staffing of specialists for the IT company in conditions of uncertainty on the platform of fuzzy sets. The following theoretical methods of scientific cognition were used in the study: method of synthesis and analysis of information, statistical method, method of maximisation and method of Max-disjunction. The study considers the developed model for assessing the applicants' competences in the staffing of the role of specialists of the IT company using the platform of fuzzy sets. The study analyses the current problems of recruitment, human or labour resources in corporations whose activities are related to the development of software in various fields. The approximate composition of roles in modern IT companies with the recommended socionic types of information metabolism for each specific executor of the IT project is given. The incentive mechanism in the context of specific constraints enables the improvement of the system of rewarding IT staff and makes it possible to differentiate such staff using project management tools. The authors of the study have developed a fuzzy model for assessing the competences of a candidate for any position in an IT corporation. The study provides linguistic variables, the basis of the rules of fuzzy products, and the conclusion of the dependences of the output variable on the input data of the developed fuzzy model

Pemodelan matematik yang berasaskan set kabur selalunya dikaitkan dengan pengajian dalam bidang kejuruteraan dan sains komputer. Oleh kerana fenomena kekaburan dalam kehidupan dikaitkan dengan kemanusiaan, maka kertas kerja ini membincangkan penggunaan set kabur dalam sains sosial. Satu kajian berkaitan dibentangkan di mana contoh menggunakan model kabur untuk mengukur data kabur daripada soal selidik dikemukakan. Kertas kerja ini turut membincangkan soal selidik yang banyak digunakan dalam penyelidikan sains sosial serta unsur kekaburan yang terlibat. Atribut dan label bagi pembolehubah linguistik daripada soal selidik yang tidak jelas diubah kepada yang ada nilai matematik. Model kabur ini menyediakan pembaikan dalam analisis data serta memberi kesimpulan yang lebih tepat. Kertas kerja ini memberi satu kefahaman baru tentang penggunaan meluas dan sumbangan set kabur dalam sains sosial. Kata kunci: Set kabur, sains sosial, model kabur, pembolehubah linguistik, konjoin kabur A mathematical modelling based on the fuzzy sets theory is synonymous with the fields of engineering and computer science. Since the phenomena of fuzziness in the real world is also closely related with human beings, this paper discusses the application of fuzzy sets in social sciences. An overview of related research is presented, which focuses on an example of social research using a fuzzy model to measure the fuzzy data from a questionnaire. This paper also discusses the questionnaire that is used to collect data by many researchers in social sciences and the elements of fuzziness in it. The vague attributes and labels of a linguistic variable from the questionnaire would be transformed into standard mathematical values. This fuzzy model offers a substantial improvement in data analyses and gives more accurate conclusions. The practical output of the paper is the prediction of the percentage of the short-term youth unemployment in the following two consecutive years. For this purpose, the non-traditional fuzzy model of the relevant prediction task is formulated in its theoretical-methodological part, which is subsequently applied in the application part. By means of the exact tools of the fuzzy approach (fuzzy sets and inference rules for manipulation with them), the synergy, uncertainty and complexity of the values (terms) of vaguely defined linguistic variables of an economic-psychological nature represented by sets of selected macroeconomic indicators is reflected. Despite the fact that the results of the fuzzy prediction are not significantly different from the results of conventional statistical prediction, the demonstration of the approach of the case of knowledgeable expertise to the choice of the relevant fuzzy sets and the formulation of the set of inference rules can be considered as a secondary benefit.

It has been widely accepted that the assessment of balance after concussion plays a large role in determining deficit. Qualitative balance assessments have been an established piece of the post-injury assessment as a clinical behavioral marker of concussion for many years. Recently more specific guidelines outlining the role of balance evaluation in concussion identification and management have been developed as part of concussion management tools. As part of the ongoing development of concussions protocols, quantitative assessment of balance function following concussion has also been identified to have an important role. Frequently imbalance and dizziness reported following concussion is assumed to be associated with post-concussion syndrome (PCS). While imbalance and dizziness are common complaints in PCS, they can also be a sign of additional underlying pathology. In cases of specific dizziness symptoms or limited balance recovery beyond the initial post-concussive period, a quantitative vestibular assessment may also be needed. Electronystagmography and videonystagmography (ENG/VNG), rotary chair testing (RCT), and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) have all been identified as valid assessment tools for vestibular dysfunction following traumatic brain injury (TBI). The assessment of balance and dizziness following sports-related concussions is an integral piece of the puzzle for removal from play, assessment of severity, and management.

Background:Carbamylation is a post-translational modification occurring under several conditions such as uremia, smoking and chronic inflammation as in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) represent a target of carbamylation. Carbamylated-LDL (cLDL) have an increased inflammatory and atherogenic potential. Growing evidence supports an influence of modified lipids on bone cells homeostasis. However, the role of cLDL on bone cells physiology is still unknown.Objectives:Considering the rate of carbamylation and the role of anti-carbamylated proteins antibodies as markers of erosive disease in RA, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of cLDL on bone homeostasis.Methods:In-vitrocarbamylation of LDL was performed as previously described by Ok et al. (Kidney Int. 2005). Briefly, native LDL (nLDL) were treated with potassium cyanate (KOCN) for 4 hours, followed by excessive dialysis for 36 hours to remove KOCN. Both osteoclasts (OCs) and osteoblasts (OBLs) were treated at baseline with 20 μg/ml, 100 μg/ml and 200 μg/ml of cLDL or nLDL. To induce osteoclast differentiation, CD14+ monocytes were isolated from peripheral blood of healthy donors by magnetic microbeads separation and then cultured on a 96-wells plate in DMEM media supplemented with RANKL and M-CSF. After 10 days cells were fixed, stained for tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), a marker of OC differentiation, and counted. OBLs were isolated from bone specimens of 3 patients who had undergone to knee or hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis and treated for 5 days with different concentrations of cLDL and nLDL. OBLs were fixed and stained for alkaline phosphatase positive activity (ALP), a marker of osteogenic differentiation. Total RNA was extracted from cell lysates. Copies of single-stranded complementary DNA (cDNA) were synthesized and analyzed by real-time PCR to evaluate RANKL and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) mRNA expression levels.Results:In OCLs culture, cLDL significantly decreased the number of OC compared to untreated cells (200 μg/ml p=0,0015) and nLDL treated cells (200 μg/ml p= 0,011; 20 μg/ml p= 0,0014) (Fig 1). Moreover, treatment with cLDL induced an increase of not terminally differentiated OCs, reduced dimensions of OCs, less intense TRAP staining and vacuolization (Fig 2). In OBLs culture, cLDL (20, 100 μg/ml) significantly reduced the ALP activity of OBLs compared with untreated cells (p<0.05) (Fig 3). nLDL did not affect the ALP expression. Treatment with cLDL stimulated RANKL mRNA expression in osteoblasts increasing the RANKL/OPG ratio (Fig 4).Fig 1.Fig 2.Fig 3.Fig 4.Conclusion:cLDL induce a significant depression of OC and OBL differentiation. Moreover, cLDL increase RANKL expression in OBL, unbalancing bone tissue turnover towards bone resorption. Background:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most significant complications of connective tissue diseases (CTD), leading to an increase of the morbidity and mortality in patients with CTD [1]. A specific T cell subset termed angiogenic T cells (TAng), that promote endothelial repair and revascularization, have been involved in the pathogenesis of CTD [2-4]. However, to the best of our knowledge, no information regarding the role of TAng in CTD-ILD+ is available.Objectives:To study, for the first time, the potential role of TAng related to vascular damage in CTD-ILD+.Methods:Peripheral venous blood was collected from 40 patients with CTD-ILD+ and three comparative groups: 44 CTD-ILD- patients, 21 idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients and 20 healthy controls (HC). All subjects were recruited from the Rheumatology and Pneumology departments of Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, Santander, Spain. Quantification of TAng was performed by flow cytometry. TAng were considered as triple-positive for CD3, CD31 and CXCR4.Results:Patients with CTD-ILD+ exhibited a significantly lower TAng frequency than CTD-ILD- patients (p<0.001). Similar results were obtained when patients with CTD-ILD+ were compared with HC (p=0.004) although no difference was observed between CTD-ILD+ and IPF. In addition, a significant increase of TAng frequency was shown in patients with CTD-ILD- in relation to IPF patients (p<0.001), while no difference was observed between CTD-ILD- and HC.Conclusion:Our results reveal a decrease of TAng frequency related to vascular damage in CTD-ILD+. Background:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most significant comorbidities of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), increasing the mortality in these patients [1,2]. Although the pathogenesis of ILD associated to RA (RA-ILD+) remains poorly defined [1], it is known that vascular tissue plays a crucial role in lung physiology [3]. In this context, a population of cells termed endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) are involved in vasculogenesis and endothelial tissue repair [4]. Previous reports suggest the implication of EPC in different conditions such as RA and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), the most common and destructive ILD [5,6]. Nevertheless, little is known about their specific role in RA-ILD+.Objectives:The purpose of this study was to shed light on the potential role of EPC in endothelial damage in RA-ILD+.Methods:Peripheral venous blood was collected from a total of 68 individuals (18 with RA-ILD+, 17 with RA-ILD-, 19 with IPF and 14 healthy controls). All subjects were recruited from the Rheumatology and Pneumology departments of Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, Santander, Spain. Quantification of EPC was analyzed by the expression of surface antigens by flow cytometry. The combination of antibodies against the stem cell marker CD34, the immature progenitor marker CD133, the endothelial marker VEGF receptor 2 (CD309) and the common leukocyte antigen CD45 was used. EPC were considered as CD34+, CD45Low, CD309+and CD133+. All statistical analyses were performed using Prism software 5 (GraphPad).Results:EPC frequency was significantly increased in patients with RA-ILD+, RA-ILD-and IPF compared to controls (p=0.001, p=0.002, p< 0.0001, respectively). Nevertheless, patients with RA, both RA-ILD+and RA-ILD-, showed a lower frequency of EPC than those with IPF (p= 0.048, p= 0.006, respectively).Conclusion:Our results provide evidence for a potential role of EPC as a reparative compensatory mechanism related to endothelial damage in RA-ILD+, RA-ILD-and IPF patients. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed new aspects of sustainable entrepreneurship and the resilience of SMEs in the conditions of individual countries. This empirical study contributes to entrepreneurship sustainability literature and business resilience literature by estimating the impact of various utilized internal crisis management tools and state compensation measures on retaining the pre-crisis levels of employment after two waves of the pandemic on the conditions of a V4 country. The study adopts an econometric approach towards assessing the influence of key factors of mitigating the problems caused by the pandemic, and the results suggest a crucial role of digitalization, internal policies optimizing variable costs, and utilization of direct governmental supportive measures to compensate for restrictions in force for employment retention in knowledge-intensive SMEs. According to the results, knowledge-intensive SMEs appears to have increased resilience towards economic shocks due to the capability to swiftly change the management of ventures to adapt to a crisis.

AbstractThis study analyzes the instantiation of objects in Peruvian Amazonian Spanish (PAS) discourse in two communities with distinct linguistic contexts. We examine the impact of two social variables (gender and place) and nine linguistic variables (transitivity, animacy, definiteness, anaphora function, anaphora expression, cataphora function, cataphora expression, activation, topic persistence) on the speech of eight participants. Our findings indicate that null instantiation in PAS is pervasive, occurring with a range of verb lexemes. While neither gender nor place are significant predictors of null objects, various linguistic variables contribute to the instantiation of objects. The five significant variables as determined by a mixed model regression analysis include the following: animacy, definiteness, anaphora expression, cataphora expression, and activation status. Several findings are consistent with previous research (e. g. human and definite referents disfavor null objects), while other results differ (e. g. PAS propositions disfavor null objects). Activation status and anaphora expression are the most significant predictors of null objects in PAS. In particular, highly accessible referents in discourse and anaphoric null objects favored null objects in subsequent clauses. Thus, the results in the present study demonstrate the pivotal role of information structure in object instantiation, furthering the discussion on syntax-discourse interplay phenomena.

The subject of this study is to explore the role of cardinality of hesitant fuzzy element (HFE) in distance measures on hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs). Firstly, three parameters, i.e., credibility factor, conservative factor, and a risk factor are introduced, thereafter, a series of novel distance measures on HFSs are proposed using these three parameters. These newly proposed distance measures handle the relationship between the cardinal number and the element values of hesitant fuzzy set well, and are suitable to combine subjective and objective decision-making information. When using these functions, decision makers with different risk preferences are allowed to give different values for these three parameters. In particular, this study transfers the hesitance degree index to a credibility of the values in HFEs, which is consistent with people’s intuition. Finally, the practicability of the newly proposed distance measures is verified by two examples.

The article deals with the problems of analyzing multi-agent models of population dynamics. The problems studied are caused by a number of uncertainties associated with variables, boundary conditions, initial states, parameter values, etc. Given problems could be found in tasks associated with cyber security of critical infrastructures (e.g. DDoS attacks, computer worms, etc.). To solve this problem, a linguistic fuzzy model has been developed, which allows describing systems of population dynamics in a more realistic way. Population dynamics is described by a set of rules, each of which involves entry and exit in the form of fuzzy sets or fuzzy functions, which are applied iteratively. The complexity of describing the processes of population dynamics systems, the presence of fuzzification and defuzzification algorithms, and the use of fuzzy sets and linguistic variables make it necessary to develop new methods for analyzing such systems. The approaches proposed in the article to the study of systems of population dynamics make it possible to apply a unified description of processes of different nature in the form of a production set of rules.
