The aim of this article is to shed light on the vital role of digital leaders in today’s businesses. Many firms have already grounded their partnership with digital transformation before the pandemic. Others sped up all efforts to implement digital capabilities due to COVID-19 for the first time for survival. So, we tried to show that a digital leader needs additional requirements to face the new challenges of working remotely. Furthermore, we think that good online communication skills with digital leaders draw a compelling composite picture of an effective working environment in a digital world.

The purpose of this paper is to ascertain the contemporary role of mobile phones in value co-creation through social media marketing. How mobile phones, in particular, smartphones with the help of numerous social media generate value co-creation, is the key objective of this study. A random sampling method was used to conduct a survey in different universities in China to identify the role of mobile phones in value co-creation. Findings from primary data collection indicated that mobile phones play a vital role in value co-creation because of the extensive use of social media. If value co-creation through social media marketing develops with the help of producers, suppliers and other intermediaries with the necessary technology and trust, the society, as well as customers, may enjoy a unique way of shopping. Future studies with mixed methodology and respondents who use different social media as a tool to generate value co-creation may shed light on the undiscovered phenomenon of social media marketing in the context of the mobile phone.

Currently, it is recognized that language and culture go hand in hand, which means that when we teach a language, we also teach the culture of that language or other languages that appear in the textbooks being used. This wide recognition of the vital role of culture in the second language teaching has presented challenges for EFL teachers in various contexts. This article reports a qualitative study on three Cambodian teachers of English at one school in Phnom Penh. The study aims to investigate EFL teachers’ views and practices of textbook adaptation, as well as how they adapt textbooks to help students develop intercultural awareness in the ELT. To achieve these objectives, the qualitative data obtained from individual interviews, classroom observations, and teaching materials were engaged to shed light on the backdrop of the textbook adaptation and cultural integration in the ELT classroom. The findings in this study reveal an inconsistency between teachers’ views and practices about the textbook adaptation and the teachers’ limited capacity of interculturality-stimulated scholarship that is inherently tied to the development of cultural activities in the ELT classroom. This study suggests teacher training on the textbook adaptation and teaching culture should be provided to the teachers in the context and beyond.

PurposeThis paper empirically explores the role of skill losses during unemployment behind firms' behaviour in interviewing long-term unemployedDesign/methodology/approachThe analysis makes use of the Work Employment Relations Survey in the UK, while it applies a panel probit modelling approach to estimate the empirical findings.FindingsThe findings document that skill losses during long-term unemployment reduce the likelihood of an interview, while they emphasize the need for certain policies that could compensate for this deterioration of skills. For robustness check, the estimation strategy survives the examination of the same predictors under different types of the working environment.Originality/valueThe original values of the work 1 combines for the first time both duration and technology as predictors of interview probability. Until now, the independent variables were used to test whether an individual has managed to exit unemployment, thus skipping the step of the interview process.

As the pace of changes in the digital world is increasing exponentially, the appeal to shift from traditional platforms to digital ones is increasing as well. Accomplishing digital transformation objectives is impossible without information security considerations. Business leaders should rethink information security challenges associated with digital transformation and consider solutions to seize existing opportunities. When it comes to information security, human beings play a critical role. Raising users' awareness is a meaningful approach to avoid or neutralize the likelihood of unwanted security consequences that may occur during transforming a system digitally. This chapter will discuss cybersecurity and information security awareness and examine how digital transformation will be affected by implementing information security awareness. This chapter will discuss the digital transformation advantages and serious challenges associated with cybersecurity, how to enhance cybersecurity, and the role of information security awareness to mitigate cybersecurity risks.

Maritime transport plays a vital role in the economic growth and global competitiveness of the regions that it serves. It offers an enormous potential for sustainable and environmentally friendly transport. The international maritime community, however, is faced with a major challenge: to protect the marine environment from pollution related to oil spills. A parallelism between resolutions adopted by national and international bodies and the oil spill incidents that triggered them is presented. The focus is on reviewing records of maritime casualties associated with massive environmental pollution. It is an attempt to shed light on how these incidents affect the formulation and implementation of the global marine environment protection policy as well as the role of the International Maritime Organization in dealing with these problems.

The rapid changes in the working environment and society as a whole as a result of digitalisation demands a new and changed competence profile. Specialist requirements are changing, and extracurricular requirements are of growing significance. Curriculum development at higher education institutions should take note of this change in order to ensure that higher education graduates are ready for professional life, and to reinforce personal development in the digital world. What should students learn in the digital world? This question invites us to consider further, from a digital perspective, the competency orientation in higher education. This article will demonstrate approaches to competency-oriented curriculum development, to consider the digital transformation in skills profiles and to render this process more dynamic. This article is based on experiences at a higher education institution that has encountered the challenges of digital transformation.

AbstractObjectiveTo identify the meaningful co-expressed gene network in mRNA extracted from adipose tissue representing different obesity phenotypes in a new tree shrew model. Furthermore, to locate the potential drug target based on analyzing the possible pathways and hub genes responsible for obesity.MethodsTen tree shrews were selected from F1 populations and divided into 3 groups based on their Lee’s index for mRNA sequencing. We identified clusters of highly correlated genes (modules) by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA).ResultsThree modules were strongly correlated with not less than one obesity phenotype (associations ranging from −0.94 to 0.85, P < 0.01). The ribosome, lysosome and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis pathways were the most enriched pathways of the blue (including 481 genes), brown (389 genes) and turquoise (1781 genes) modules, respectively. The hub genes were determined, including UBA52 in the blue module, AKT1 in the brown module and LRRK2 in the turquoise module.ConclusionsWe characterized different obesity phenotypes in tree shrews for the first time. The most represented gene AKT1 indicated the vital role of the PI3K-AKT pathway through interactions with downstream pathways and differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The work will help provide new insight into the prevention and treatment strategies of obesity.

Abstract This paper proposes a measurement method for assessing the extent to which the XBRL digital standard eXtensible Business Reporting Language can assist firms in implementing their reporting when applying EMAS The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme. A specific survey based on the work of (Bunker et al., 2007), which uses Value Compatibility, was carried out at the most important firms in Southern Spain. Different sectors were involved in the study: public hospital, copper manufacturing facilities, petrochemical plant and pulp and renewable energy production. The results reveal some concordances between EMAS using XBRL as a reporting technology, and the cultural, organisational and technical working environment of the analysed firms, specifically those related to the Structural Dimension. By contrast, some discordance is highlighted related to the Practical Dimension. The paper proposes for the first time the application of the global financial standard XBRL for a non financial purpose like the widely accepted EMAS, to actual potential uses in real scenarios. The empirical research combined heavy industry with services, privately owned firms with public entities, private and public sector, in the analysis of this technology. The paper represents a necessary landmark for a subsequent longitudinal study.

Abstract Drawing on archival research, this article introduces several Russian poems by the Arabic mahjar poet and writer Mikhail Naimy (Mīkhāʿīl Nu’aymah) (1889-1988) for the first time to scholarship. By examining the influence of Russian literature on Naimy’s literary output, we shed light on the role of multilingualism in generating literary identities and in shaping literary form. Naimy’s Russian poetry, we argue, furthers our understanding of the nahḍah as a multilingual movement that synthesized influences from many different languages. We also show how this multilingual orientation served as a bridge between the nahḍah and mahjar literature, by helping Arab writers craft a poetics of Arabic modernism in the diaspora. Alongside documenting an important archival discovery, this research contributes to our understanding of the temporality of Arabic modernism while illuminating its geographically and linguistically diverse substance.

Adherence and persistence to specialty medications are necessary to achieve successful outcomes of costly therapies. The increasing use of specialty medications has exposed several unique barriers to certain specialty treatments’ continuation. Integrated specialty pharmacy teams facilitate transitions in sites of care, between different provider types, among prescribed specialty medications, and during financial coverage changes. We review obstacles encountered within these types of transitions and the role of the specialty pharmacist in overcoming these obstacles. Case examples for each type of specialty transition provide insight into the unique complexities faced by patients, and shed light on pharmacists’ vital role in patient care. This insightful and real-world experience is needed to facilitate best practices in specialty care, particularly in the growing number of health-system specialty pharmacies.
