This unique work in its subject matter, genre and language was prepared during the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic. The theoretical background of the author’s research work is perfectly adjusted to Patyi’s “university triangle” model (“Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem, Intézményfejlesztési Terv 2015–2020,” n.d.), which basically illustrates the functioning of a university in a triple system of the activities “research—education—curriculum development,” and Paavola and Hakkarainen’s trialogical model (2005), which—through the competence of cooperation—provides an opportunity todevelop students’ creativity, to keep their motivation at a high level, to develop competencies required by the labour market, and to implement experiential teaching–learning. A questionnaire survey was used with closed and open questions among students who have been learning English for law enforcement at the University of Public ServiceFaculty of Law Enforcement (hereinafter: UPS FLE) using the corpus-based dictionary method. The author’s acquaintances registered on Facebook social media platform were also involved in the research. The 96-page collection of words and phrases based on the theoretical background involves 403 English words, word phrases, neologisms and their definitions related to the coronavirus epidemic and COVID-19 situation during the first wave.

This paper presents a comparative study of the teaching-learning process of Anglophone cultures through the English as a foreign language programs of Shantou University, Guangdong, China, and Universidad de Ciencias Pedagógicas “José de la Luz y Caballero”, Holguín, Cuba. As criteria for the comparison, the authors have selected the objectives, teaching methods, and resources of the two institutions. The comparative analysis allowed for the determination of the main trends common to both universities: the teaching of language as a means to an end, the active participation of faculties in the elaboration of teaching materials and textbooks for the specific courses they teach, the validity of research work aimed at improving the teaching resources for the EFL courses offered at both universities, the use of the communicative approach as a general method for the teaching-learning process, and the development of co-curricular activities to enhance the teaching-learning of cultural elements. The analysis also allowed for a reflection on how the distinct departmental/institutional structures of the two schools may lead to some significant differences in terms of educational focus. Finally, the analysis provoked questions concerning the balance between culture teaching-learning and intercultural communication training.

The present research explores Pakistani ESL learners' voluntary language learning behaviour. It excludes references to ubiquitous and almost rampant online teaching-learning behaviour caused by the recent global pandemic—COVID-19. A questionnaire containing closed-ended questions was used to collect the data. Cronbach's Alpha test was used to check the reliability of the questionnaire, whereas the validity of the questionnaire was examined by using the Item-Total Correlation Test and Inter-Item Correlation Test. A regression test was conducted to test the current research work hypotheses. Regression results suggest that the following factors urge the learners to benefit from the Internet to learn English. The data analysis and results reveal important information related to learner-psychology. (a) The attitude of Pakistani learners towards Internet-based language learning is positive. (b) The Internet's perceived usefulness urges Pakistani learners to learn English. (c) Learners can afford digital gadgets and money to buy Internet data

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has tremendously affected every aspect of global structures with its fast and lethal reach. Originating from Wuhan, a Chinese city, this highly infectious virus has forced to impose nationwide closures in many countries impacting onsite educational systems to shut down. Considering the safety of students and following other infected countries, the Bangladesh government has closed all the educational institutions until further notice. Although online teaching-learning is promoted for educators and students to streamline their educational activities from home, it has several drawbacks from different perspectives. Post pandemic scenarios in higher-level education system pose some questions and doubts which requires scholarly works for a thorough investigation. To analyze these scenarios and describe the trends towards effective teaching-learning, in this research work, we have proposed a model by interviewing students from the university level. Our proposed Model provides some rationale and guidelines for its post-pandemic implementation in the higher-level education system in Bangladesh.

In order to explain the phenomenon under study better, the Burns transformational theory founded by James MacGregor Burns will be utilised. The positivism paradigm is the philosophy adopted for this study. The survey will be conducted at the Durban University of Technology with the intention to address the question and the objective of the study. Introduction: This paper presents a pilot experience on the use of an Institutional Personal Learning Environment (iPLE) which aimed to describe the conception, design and development of the iPLE, as well as to determine how users approached the iPLE, and to identify the structure of the Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) designed by students. Method: The iPLE supported graduated students - specialized on research for social sciences and education –of the University Casa Grande (Guayaquil, Ecuador) - in the development of their final master projects and to support other people interested in building and using a PLE. The experiment data sources included academic records, virtual classrooms design, the very PLEs built by the students, statistics of use and access to the iPLE; and a questionnaire held to the participants. Results: The initial results allow the research team to report a favorable acceptance of the iPLE by the students not only as a support for research work, but also to provide a model for the construction of PLEs. In addition, the questionnaire shows that the users of the iPLE rated the environment as having high usability and felt a high grade of satisfaction. Conclusions: The conclusions point out different lines of research related to iPLEs, such as use an iPLE as portfolio of evidence and interaction among students, peers and teachers or the customization of an iPLE by using technological and teaching learning resources.
