The aim of this study was to evaluate the personality, ego and task orientation of elite Curling athletes in the pandemic era, and the distance education support they received. Research questions were produced on the Google Forms and mailed to the athletes. Curling Super League, 1st League, and 2nd League players consisted of a total of 89 athletes were included. Explanatory information was given for the motivation of the athletes. The questionnaire consists of four stages. Explanatory information is provided for the motivation of the athletes. Demographic features are included in the 1st stage. It consists of 14 questions. At the 2nd stage, the “Task and Ego Orientation Scale in Sports” consisted of 13 items, seven of which are task orientation, and six of which are ego orientation. Those who respond to the scale participate in each article according to the evaluation system of 5. At the 3rd stage, the Eysenck Personality Scale, adapted by Karanci, consists of 23 questions in total. Questions were asked in the form of yes or no. In the final stage, there was a scale developed to evaluate the mental and physical support that Curling athletes received during the pandemic era. Athletes were expected to answer these questions. It was analyzed with SPSS 22.00 statistical program. By looking at the level of interaction between the questions, Pearson Correlation techniques were used. To test the construct validity of the scale, principal components factor analysis using Oblimin rotation method was used, item-total correlations were examined, and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients were examined to determine internal consistency. The Cronbach Alpha number was found to be .085. Furthermore, interpretations with a value of 0.05 were made as to the error value. As a result, it has been observed that there is a positive correlation between Ego and Task orientation, personality and Sport perception and orientation and distance education support. It has been observed that there is a negative relationship between the lying sub-dimension of personality and neuroticism. It has been observed that there is a positive relationship between the task and ego orientation dimension in sports and the orientation to perceive sports and distance education support. It has been observed that Curling athletes had good mental and physical preparation periods during this period. It was also concluded that the implications of the tests carried out should be monitored on other sports branches.

AbstractThis study has been conducted with the aim of ascertaining the relationship between peer leaders in sport teams and the levels of burnout experienced by their team-mates. A total of 219 Spanish athletes involved in football and basketball participated in the study. To measure leadership among peers, we employed the Sports Peer Leadership Scale, which comprises 24 items, grouped into 6 primary factors: empathy, influence on decision making, sports values, social support, training orientation and competition orientation. And to measure burnout, we employed the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire, which comprises 15 items which are indicators of physical and emotional exhaustion, devaluation and reduced sense of accomplishment among athletes. The results led to the conclusion that there is a statistically significant negative relationship between perceived leadership capacity and the levels of burnout experience by a team. The greater the level of leadership capacity perceived, the lower the levels of burnout will be. A multiple regression analysis with total burnout as dependent variable and social and task orientations of the leader as predictors showed standardized regression coefficients of –.241 (p = .010) and –.076 (p = .413), respectively for social and task orientation, being the effect size equal to .089.

Summary Fitness trackers (FTs) can help increase activity levels and decrease sedentary behavior. However, researchers have yet to examine whether individuals’ goal orientations influence physical activity behavior in response to FT use. This study examined whether goal orientations predicted participants’ effort and enjoyment while exercising and their reasons for using a FT. Participants (203 females, 57 males; Mage = 42.35 years) reported goal orientations, enjoyment and effort while exercising, and reasons for using an FT. Four stepwise linear regression analyses were calculated to assess the extent that goal orientations predicted effort and enjoyment while exercising and task- and ego-related reasons for using FTs. Both task and ego orientation scores positively predicted effort and enjoyment. Task orientation had a much greater influence than ego orientation over these motivational outcomes. Moreover, task orientation positively predicted task-related reasons for using a FT (e.g., “helps me strive to be my physical best”), while ego orientation positively predicted ego-related reasons for using a FT (e.g., “notifies me that I outperformed others”). Results suggest practitioners and FT manufacturers should consider promoting a task orientation (e.g., define success based on personal effort & improvement) to foster clients’ sustained motivation to engage in PA.

Employee turnover has become a key performance indicator for many organizations as they struggle to retain talented employees. The negative impact of turnover on organizational performance has continually forced organizational leaders to seek better ways of retaining valuable employees. The relationship between man and work has always attracted the attention of philosophers. A major part of men’s life is spent at work. Work is social reality and social expectation to which men seem to conform. It not only provides status to the individual but also binds him to the society. An employee who is satisfied with his job would perform his duties well and be committed to his job, and subsequently to his organization. This paper examines relationship among job satisfaction, organizational commitment and employees’ turnover intentions at Unilever Corporation in Nigeria. The data for this study was collected from 117 employees currently working at Unilever Nigeria PLC using the survey method via the questionnaire. Pearson Correlation and the multiple regression analysis techniques using the SPSS version 22.0 was used for the data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that both job satisfaction and organizational commitment have significant negative relationship with employee turnover intentions. In addition, organizational commitment was revealed to have a more dorminant influence on employee turnover intentions than job satisfaction. Based on these findings, the implications, recommendations, practice, and theory were discussed.

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is characterized by social anxiety/fear, self-attention, and interoception. Functional magnetic resonance imaging studies demonstrate increased activity during symptom-sensitive tasks in regions of the default-mode network (DMN), amygdala (AMG), and salience network (SN). What is the source of this task-unspecific symptom-sensitive hyperactivity in DMN? We address this question by probing SAD resting state (rs) changes in DMN including their relation to other regions as possible source of task-unspecific hyperactivity in the same regions. Our findings show the following: (1) rs-hypoconnectivity within-DMN regions; (2) rs-hyperconnectivity between DMN and AMG/SN; (3) task-evoked hyperactivity in the abnormal rs-regions of DMN and AMG/SN during different symptom-sensitive tasks; (4) negative relationship of rest and task changes in especially anterior DMN regions as their rs-hypoconnectivity is accompanied by task-unspecific hyperactivity; (5) abnormal top-down/bottom-up modulation between anterior DMN regions and AMG during rest and task. Findings demonstrate that rs-hypoconnectivity among DMN regions is negatively related to task-unspecific hyperactivity in DMN and AMG/SN. We propose a model of “Topography of the Anxious Self” in SAD (TAS-SAD). Abnormal DMN-AMG/SN topography during rest, as trait feature of an “unstable social self”, is abnormally aggravated during SAD-sensitive situations resulting in task-related hyperactivity in the same regions with an “anxious self” as state feature.

International Diabetes Federation states that in 2007 there were 246 million people in the world suffering from diabetes and it is expected to increase to 380 million by 2025. DM can cause susceptibility to infections in the human lung organs due to hyperglycemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the lung volume profile in the form of VT, VCI, VCE and VKP in the DM group and non DM group. This study uses a quantitative descriptive survey design with a sample of 60 people, consisting of 30 people from the DM group and 30 people from the Non DM group. The statistical test used in this study is the Independent statistical sample t-test, the Mann-Whitney test and the Pearson correlation. The results showed: (1) There was a significant difference in the DM of the DM group and the Non DM group with p = 0.021 (p <0.05); (2) There were significant differences in VT, VCI, VCE of the DM group and Non DM group with significant values ​​of VT (p = 0,000 <0.05), VCI (p = 0.003 <0.05) and VCE (p = 0.001 <0.05); (3) There was no significant difference in the VKP of the DM group and the Non DM group with p = 0.805 (p <0.05); (4) Relationship between GD and VT (r = 0.220), GD with VCI (r = 0.308), GD with VCE (r = -0.110), GD with VKP (r = 0.219). So it was concluded that there was a positive relationship between GD and VT, VCI, VKP and also there was a negative relationship between GD and VCE. Suggestion: DM sufferers need to conduct routine checks so that health remains well controlled

AbstractPoplar is raw material for various panel, paper and fiber products. The 12 sample trees of clone Nanlin-895 from four spacings were destructively harvested after thirteen growing seasons to assess the influence of spacing on radial growth and wood properties. Spacing significantly affected tree-ring width and wood basic density (p < 0.05) but not fiber traits. The highest diameter and wood basic density at breast height (1.3 m) was in 6 m × 6 m and 3 m × 8 m spacings, respectively. However, no significant differences in tree-ring width, wood basic density and fiber traits were observed among the four sampling directions in discs taken at 1.3 m for each spacing. Growth rings from the pith and tree heights had significant effects on wood basic density and fiber anatomical characteristics, highlighting obvious temporal-spatial variations. Pearson correlation analysis showed a significantly negative relationship of tree-ring width to wood basic density, fiber length and fiber width, but a significantly positive relationship to hemicellulose. There was no relationship with cellulose and lignin contents. Based on a comprehensive assessment by the TOPSIS method, the 6 m × 6 m spacing is recommended for producing wood fiber at similar sites in the future.

Abstract. Tanjung A, Saragih HTSSG, Trijoko, Soenarwan HP, Widianto S, Mahardhika IWS, Daryono BS. 2019. Polymorphism of myostatin gene and its association with body weight traits in a hybrid of GAMA chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus Linn. 1758). Biodiversitas 20: 3207-3212. An experiment was conducted to detect SNP of the myostatin gene and its association with the body weight of hybrid chicken crossbreed from F1 Kamper and BC1 Broiler. Four F1 Kamper hens were crossbred with BC1 Broiler rooster. Day old chick (DOC) hatched were maintained for 49 days with body weight measurement every seven days. The blood samples from 49 days old chicken were taken for DNA isolation by Chelex 5% method and then amplification of the myostatin gene. PCR products were sequenced, and sequence alignment was performed using Clustal Omega to obtain SNP. The SNP obtained was analyzed by the Pearson correlation test with the body weight of forty nine-days-old chickens. The body weight of the hybrid chicken is higher than of Pelung chicken but lower than the Broiler. There are 7 SNPs in myostatin gene exons included 2 Adenine insertions, 1 Guanine deletion, and four substitutions (C2244G, G2283A, T4842G, G7378T) that yield nine haplotypes. Six haplotypes had different protein sequences with Myostatin protein, while three haplotypes were identical to Myostatin protein. The correlation analysis showed that there was a strong positive correlation (r = 0.736) between normal Myostatin protein and mutant to chicken body weight at 49-days-old. Adenine insertion to nucleotide 2099-2100 of myostatin gene had a very strong positive correlation (r = 0.800) to 49-days-old chicken body weight, although T4842G substitution had a strong negative relationship (r = -0.773) to 49-days-old chicken body weight. Adenine insertion to nucleotide 2099-2100 of myostatin gene could be a genetic marker of heavier body weight of the hybrid chicken.
