Java lemongrass is commonly cultivated in Vietnam for the use in industries and traditional medicine. Currently, the application of fertilizer, especially nitrogen fertilizer, is one of the most traditional farm practices to increase production yield. A single factorial experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, three replications to determine the suitability of nitrogen fertilizer rates on growth, leaf and oil yields of Java lemongrass. Six treatments were used in this experiment including 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240 kg N/ha and applying 90 kg N/ha as control. Fertilizer base for treatments (for 1 ha) included 20 tons of cow dung compost, 60 kg P2O5 and 60 kg K2O. The application of 120 kg N/ha significantly improved the growth of Java lemongrass as plant height (97.0 cm/plant), average number of leaves (197.1 leaves/plant), average weight of leaves per plant (198.7 g/plant), fully leaf yield (9.4 tons/ha/2 harvest times), essential oil content (1.0% FW) and economic oil yield (97.8 kg/ha/2 harvests).

The research was conducted to determine the growth and productivity of cassava plants that are given organic fertilizers and their potential waste as ruminant animal feed. The research was conducted at Kerthi Winangun Farmers Group, Bukti village, Kubutambahan District, Buleleng Regency. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three fertilization treatments and twelve replications. The fertilizer given were: cow dung 5 kg/plant (UK1), compost 5 kg/plant (UK2) and cow dung 5 kg/plant + bio urine 300 ml/plant (UK3). The Parameters observed were (1) plant growth (height, Number of leaves and tubers), (2) tuber production, (3) waste (leaf and peel) production and (4) carrying capacity. The result shows that application of 5 kg compost/plant yielded the highest tuber, leaf and peel production was respectively 1789,25±475,50, 667 ± 104 and 416,61±18 g/plant. Production of this peel can be used to feed 1.29-1.52 cattle/ha/year or 10.73-12,68 goat/ha/year. In conclusion, the cassava that was given with 5 kg compost per plant has the highest production to be used as a source of feed for ruminants.

Restoration and revegetation must be done to recover the post-mining land ecosystem. The strategy of one vegetative that could be applied to rehabilitate degraded the post-mining land is revegetation with the applications the organic and NPK fertilizer to improve the land conditions and choose the suitable of the plant. Terminalia catappa L is one of the plants classified as a pioneer species and can grow on the poor nutrient land and easy to cultivation. Research on the additions of cow dung as ameliorant and NPK fertilizer to improve the physical, chemical, and biological of tailings media in nursery to the growth of Terminalia catappa L. Treatment was given to the growth of seedlings of Terminalia catappa L using the Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 2 (two) factor treatment. The first factor is NPK Fertilizer with 5 level treatment such as without Fertilizer (K0), 5 gr (K1), 10 gr (K2), 15 gr (K3), 20 gr (K4). The second factor is an organic compound from cow dung with 5 level treatment such us without cow dung (P0), 10 gr (P1), 20 gr (P2), 30 gr (P3), 40 gr (P4). Each level of treatment consisting of 3 replications so the amount of seedlings in this research is 75 seedlings. Data collected were short high (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves and dry weight of the plant. The result of addition organic and NPK fertilizer on tailing media in nursery gave a significant effect on the growth of height, diameter, number of leaves and dry weight of Terminalia catappa L. The best result media treatment for all parameters is NPK fertilizer and cow dung with combination 20: 40 gr,  although almost all of the ameliorant treatment gave the better result if compare the control treatment without addition organic ameliorant.Keywords: ameliorant, organic and NPK Fertilizer, Tailings, Terminalia catappa L.

This experiment was aimed to investigate the production characteristics and nutritive quality of Ruzi grass by varying levels of organic and inorganic fertilizer viz. cow dung (CD) and urea fertilizer (UF), respectively. The treatments were arranged into a factorial design and grouped according to a completely randomized design with three replications. Three doses of CD (0; 5; and 10 t/ha) were applied at sowing and four UF doses were applied as top dressing (0, 25, 50 and 100 kg/ha). The application of CD and UF have a positive effect on the length of leaves (p=0.00 and p=0.02) but their interactions are not significantly different (p=0.12). The effect of CD, UF and their interaction significantly increased the number of leaves (p=0.00), the number of tillers (p=0.00) and dry matter yield (p=0.00). There were no significant effect of CD and interaction on the leaf/stem ratio (p=0.17 and p=0.23, respectively) but UF slightly increased the ratio (p=0.00), CP% (p£0.00), NDF% (p£0.00) and ADF% (p£0.00). The best combination of fertilizer could be noted at 50 kg/ha UF and 10 t/ha CD to obtain better results. It might recommend that better fertilizer management can improve productivity as well as the nutritional quality of Ruzi grass.

Status:PostprintOrganic fertilizer is capable to decrease the use of in-organic fertilizer due to release of plant nutrients and improvement of other soil properties. The objective of this experiment was to compare the growth and yield of green mustard as affected by cattle manure and litter compost. The experiment was conducted employing Completely Randomized Design with 8 treatments. Treatments included litter compost and cattle manure at rate of 25 Mg ha-1 and 15, 20, 25 Mg ha-1 with addition of 1.85 g nitrogen per plant, respectively. Each treatment was replicated 5 times. Soil used in this experiment was Ultisol collected at depth of 0-20 cm. Five kg of soil was mixed with organic fertilizer according to each treatment and placed in 10 kg polybag. Green mustard was planted to each polybag. Nitrogen fertilizer was applied a week after planting. The experiment revealed that application of litter compost and cattle compost at rate 25 Mg ha-1 with additional nitrogen fertilizer resulted in higher green mustard fresh weight per plant and number of leaves. On the other hand, application of both organic fertilizers at rate of 25 Mg ha-1 without addition nitrogen fertilizer as other treatments did not provide significant differences on most variables observed. This indicated that use of in-organic fertilizer (nitrogen) was able to be reduced in green mustard cultivation by applying organic fertilizer.

<h1>This study aims to determine the response of growth and  production  of  shallot  (Allium cepa L.) to the Nitrogen fertilizer and Granule Organic fertilizer. The design used was a Factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting with two (2) treatment factors. The first factor is Nitrogen (N) from Urea which consists of three levels, namely: N1 = 2 g / plot, N2 = 4 g / plot and N3 = 6 g / plot. The second factor of Organic Granule fertilizer consisted of three levels, namely: G1 = 5 kg / plot, G2 = 10 kg / plot, G3 = 15 kg / plot. The results showed that interaction of Nitrogen fertilizer  and Granul Organic fertilizer significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers and tubers wet weight per plot, but not significant for the number of flower stalks. The highest growth and production of shallots produced a combination of treatment N3 = 6 g / plot and G3 = 15 kg / plot.</h1>

The research about effect of Nitrogen fertilizer and stress water on the growth and artemisinin content of Artemisia vulgaris L. has been conducted from December 2015 to March 2016 in Screen House and Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of  Mathematics and Natural Science, Andalas University, Padang. The purpose of this research were to the effect of  Nitrogen fertilizer, stress water, and their interaction between on the growth and artemisinin content of A. vulgaris. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in factorial with  four treatments ad three replications. The result showed that the number of leaves, plant height, length of roots, fresh weight, dry weight and of Artemisia vulgaris L. were increased significantly on N fertilizer treatments. The treatment of stress water 60% of volume capacity gave significantly effect on numbers of leaves and the highest content of Artemisinin was 80% volume capacity. The interaction of  N fertilizer and stress water did not showed significantly effect on the growth and artemisinin content of Artemisia vulgaris L.

This study was aimed at assessing the efficacy of several multiple liquid biofertilizers found in the market on the growth and production of sweet corn. A factorial completely randomized design was used. The first factor was the type of multiple liquid biofertilizers (PHMC) consisting of three levels, namely PHMC 1, PHMC 2, and PHMC 3. The second factor was synthetic fertilizer rates consisting of five levels, namely 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of recommended rate (R). Results showed that the application of PHMC 3 combined with synthetic fertilizer treatments (05 R and 25% R) significantly increased  stem diameter (8 WAP). Plants treated with PHMC 3 application were found to have significantly higher number of leaves than those treated with PHMC 2 application at 6 WAP. Plant height, number of leaves, and weight, length, and circumference of main cob of plants treated with 50%R synthetic fertilizer were higher than those of plants treated with 0%R and 25%R synthetic fertilizer. Meanwhile, plants treated with 75%R synthetic fertilizer were found to have better values for girth, leave width, flowering time, harvesting time, number of cobs, dry weight of shoots and roots, grain total soluble solids (TSS) content, and cobs weight  than those of plants treated with 0, 25, and 50%R synthetic fertilizer. Key words: sweet corn, multiple liquid biofertilizers, TSS, synthetic fertilizer.

The aim of this study was to find out the effect of different organic fertilizers on the population growth of Chydorus sp. This research was conducted at Laboratorium of Nutrition and Food Technology, Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, from December, 2012 to January, 2013. The experiment was run in the Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 3 replication. Chydorus sp. was cultured in 9 glass jars with a volume of 1 L each. Three treatments applied in this research included A: medium culture composed of 500ml of water and 50 grams of soil; B: medium culture composed of 500ml of water, 50 grams of soil and 10g of cow dung; C: medium culture composed of 500ml of water, 50 grams of soil and 10g of horse dung. The density of Cydorus sp. in each media was 10 individuals /500 ml water. Observation on the population growth, development of live preys, and water quality parameters was conducted for 20 days period. Data were statistically analized with Analysis of variance. The results showed the highest density of Chydorus sp. was reached by Chydorus cultured in medium with horse manure (2169 individual/500 ml), followed by medium culture with cow manure (1715 individual/500 ml), and the lowest in medium culture with soil which was 1065,33 individual/500 ml. However, Analysis of variances showed that Chydorus population growth were not significantly affected by different culture medium. Keywords: manure, liquid fertilizer, growth, Chydorus sp.

The purpose of this research is to determine the concentration of young coconut water that is appropriate for the growth of orchid plantlets (Dendrobium sp.) In vitro. This study used an experimental method, descriptive data analysis to compare several different concentrations of coconut water. The design of this study uses a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments consist of 0% coconut water concentration (as a control), 15%, 30% and 60%. Each concentration was carried out 5 replications and each repetition consisted of 5 Dendrobium sp plantlets in each culture bottle conducted for 40 HST, for observing the root length carried out for 50 HST. The highest number of shoots and leaves were produced at the same concentration, namely 150 ml / L coconut water treatment (15% concentration) with an average of 2.8 shoots and the average number of leaves 10.8 leaves. The average number of roots and the longest root length was produced at a concentration of 600 ml / L coconut water (60% concentration) with an average of 6 roots, and the longest root length was 0.5 cm.Keywords: Young coconut water, (Cocos nucifera L.), Dendrobium sp., in vitro, growth.ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini ialah menentukan konsentrasi air kelapa muda yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan planlet anggrek (Dendrobium sp.) secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, analisis data secara deskriptif untuk membandingan beberapa konsentrasi air kelapa yang berbeda. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakukan terdiri dari konsentrasi air kelapa 0 % (sebagai kontrol), 15% , 30% dan 60%. Masing-masing konsentrasi dilakukan 5 kali ulangan dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 planlet Dendrobium sp dalam setiap botol kultur yang dilakukan selama 40 HST, untuk pengamatan panjang akar dilakukan selama 50 HST. Jumlah tunas dan jumlah daun terbanyak dihasilkan pada konsentrasi yang sama, yaitu perlakuan air kelapa 150 ml/L (konsentrasi 15%)  dengan rata-rata jumlah tunas terbanyak 2,8 tunas dan rata-rata jumlah daun terbanyak 10,8 helai daun. Rata-rata jumlah akar terbanyak dan panjang akar terpanjang dihasilkan pada konsentrasi air kelapa 600 ml/L (Konsentrasi 60%) dengan rata-rata jumlah akar terbanyak sebanyak 6 akar, dan rata-rata panjang akar terpanjang 0,5 cm.Kata kunci : Air kelapa Muda (Cocos nucifera L.), Dendrobium sp., in vitro, pertumbuhan

This study aimed to determine the best dosage of goat manure as a natural fertilizer on Beha grass(Brachiaria humidicola). This study used 64 poles of Beha grass grown in polybags divided into 16plots, and it used a completely randomized design (CRD) to analyze the data. This study consist of 4treatments that is P0 (0 ton/ha of goat manure), P1 (10 ton/ha of goat manure), P2 (15 ton/ha of goatmanure), and P3 (20 ton/ha of goat manure). This study's variables were plant height, number of leaves,numbers of tillers, new production, and root length. Data analysis used ANOVA variance continued withreal honest difference test. The result of this study showed that averages of plant height (cm) wereP0=26, P1=50.5, P2=51.5, and P3=52.75. Averages of the number of leaves were P0=22, P1=110,P2=160, and P3=185. Averages of numbers of tillers were P0=7, P1=25, P2=37, and P3=38. Averages ofnew production (g) were P0=17.75, P1=123.5, P2=178, and P3=192.25. Averages of root length (cm)were P0=37.8, P1=39.5, P2=41.775, and P3=49.5. Fertilization with natural fertilizer from goat manurehas a genuine effect (P<0.01) on the growth of Beha grass. The best dosage of fertilization with goatmanure was 15 ton/ha.
