The aim of this study was to find out the effect of different organic fertilizers on the population growth of Chydorus sp. This research was conducted at Laboratorium of Nutrition and Food Technology, Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, from December, 2012 to January, 2013. The experiment was run in the Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 3 replication. Chydorus sp. was cultured in 9 glass jars with a volume of 1 L each. Three treatments applied in this research included A: medium culture composed of 500ml of water and 50 grams of soil; B: medium culture composed of 500ml of water, 50 grams of soil and 10g of cow dung; C: medium culture composed of 500ml of water, 50 grams of soil and 10g of horse dung. The density of Cydorus sp. in each media was 10 individuals /500 ml water. Observation on the population growth, development of live preys, and water quality parameters was conducted for 20 days period. Data were statistically analized with Analysis of variance. The results showed the highest density of Chydorus sp. was reached by Chydorus cultured in medium with horse manure (2169 individual/500 ml), followed by medium culture with cow manure (1715 individual/500 ml), and the lowest in medium culture with soil which was 1065,33 individual/500 ml. However, Analysis of variances showed that Chydorus population growth were not significantly affected by different culture medium. Keywords: manure, liquid fertilizer, growth, Chydorus sp.

This research aims to determine the effect of mixing cattle dung as a culture medium to the growing population of earthworms. The research was conducted for 42 days starting from 18 October to 28 November 2017 at the fish farming school hall of Agriculture Faculty of Islamic University Riau Pekanbaru. The worm tree used in this study was as many as 960 tail or 80 tail for each container. Worms are maintained for 42 days with different mixtures of medium, i,e, 100% P1 dung treatment, P2 cow-dung treatment 50% + 50% buffalo dung, 50% cow dung + 50% goat dung, 50% cow dung + 50% chicken droppings. The research design was Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The result of this research showed that the increase of population of earthworm with the mixing of cattle dung as culture media which conducted for 42 days is the best treatment of P2 as much as 4266 head/container, then the second one used was in treatment 3 as much as 1855 head/container, and the lowest increase of the population was at treatment P1 as much as 403 head/container, and followed by treatment P4 as much as 575 head/ container.

The research was conducted to determine the growth and productivity of cassava plants that are given organic fertilizers and their potential waste as ruminant animal feed. The research was conducted at Kerthi Winangun Farmers Group, Bukti village, Kubutambahan District, Buleleng Regency. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three fertilization treatments and twelve replications. The fertilizer given were: cow dung 5 kg/plant (UK1), compost 5 kg/plant (UK2) and cow dung 5 kg/plant + bio urine 300 ml/plant (UK3). The Parameters observed were (1) plant growth (height, Number of leaves and tubers), (2) tuber production, (3) waste (leaf and peel) production and (4) carrying capacity. The result shows that application of 5 kg compost/plant yielded the highest tuber, leaf and peel production was respectively 1789,25±475,50, 667 ± 104 and 416,61±18 g/plant. Production of this peel can be used to feed 1.29-1.52 cattle/ha/year or 10.73-12,68 goat/ha/year. In conclusion, the cassava that was given with 5 kg compost per plant has the highest production to be used as a source of feed for ruminants.

The effort of aquaculture especially in the brackish and marine water becomes more develope,. That development cannot be separated from seeding phase. To sufficient the needed of seed, it is needed seed aquaculture by giving sufficient and quality life food, because it cannot be replace yet by the imitation food on the early of larvae seedling. One of the life food is Chlorella sp that given to zooplankton variety directly to the fish or shrimp cultivan. Therefore the Walne, Guillard’s f/2, and Erdschreiber culture mediums are suitabel medium used to phytoplankton culture.  The purpose of this research is to know the influence of medium of usage of Walne, Guillard’s f/2, and Erdschreiber on the growth of Chlorella. Also to know the best medium from those three medium on the growth of Chlorella sp the research was Laboratories experimental character. The effort scheme used is completely randomized design 3 treatments and 3 times repetitions,  Those 3 treatments are as follows: A. Walne Medium, B. Guillard’s f/2 Medium, and C. Erdschreiber Medium. The result of the research shows that the used of different culture medium effect on the growth of Chlorella sp, that is significant difference (P<0,05) on the Lag Phase time with best treatment B (0,290 days), great significant difference (P<0,01) on the specific growth rate with best treatment B (0.655). Thus on the maximum density and final density (on Log No. sel/mL) is great significant differences with best treatment B (Guillard’s f/2) each are 7.931 and 6.443. AbstractDunaliella salina is one type of natural food used in the hatchery business. Production stability D. salina with an abundance of nutrients can be supported. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and how many doses of the bacteria Bacillus pumilus best fermented in cow dung as fertilizer in increasing the population of D. salina. Research conducted at the Laboratory of Education Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Fisheries, Airlangga University Surabaya. The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) is followed by Duncan test. D. salina was cultured in 250 mL glass bottle with 5 treatments (2 treatments as a control) and four replications. Culture medium used contained 10 ppm cow dung. The concentration of cow manure are given in the study, namely A (12.5% Bacillus pumilus), B (10% Bacillus pumilus), C (7.5% Bacillus pumilus), control 1 (without fermentation), control 2 (fertilizer Walne). The results showed that the addition of Bacillus pumilus on cow dung that were cultured in culture medium D. salina can increase the amount of chlorophyll content of D. salina. Addition of Bacillus pumilus by 10% in the culture medium to produce the amount of chlorophyll-a D. salina high of 0.014055 µg/mL and chlorophyll-b of 0.009657142 µg/mL on the first day.

Dendrobium anosmum is one of natural orchids in Indonesia. Optimization of medium composition for orchid propagation through in vitro culture is necessary to enhance propagule multiplication capabilities and quality. This study was aimed to study the influence of concentration of coconut water in culture medium on in vitro growth and development of D. anosmum orchid species and to determine the optimal coconut water concentration in culture media.  The experiment were arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and eight replications. The treatments consisted of the addition of coconut water with concentrations: 0 ml•l -1 (control), 50 ml•l-1, 100 ml•l-1 and 150 ml•l-1. The results showed that addition of coconut water in culture medium gave different effect on shoot growth and multiplication of D. anosmum orchids.  Coconut water concentration of 100 ml•l-1 was the best concentration for growth and multiplication of D. anosmum orchids, based on both shoots and roots growth, plantlet height and wet weight.

This research aims was to determine the effective pressure on fine bubbles technology on the growth of Siamese catfish fry in the aquaponic system. This study uses a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. Treatment A (Control), Treatment B (FBs at a pressure of 4,5 atm), Treatment C (FBs at a pressure of 5 atm and treatment D (FBs at a pressure of 5,5 atm). The parameters observed were Specific Growth Rate, Survival Rate and water quality (Temperature, pH, DO, Ammonia) Data were analyzed using variance with the F test at a 95% confidence level. The best treatment for catfish growth was treatment D (5,5 atm pressure), which gave the highest SGR value of 7,24% and the highest SR value of 100%. The value of water quality parameters were in good condition for the growth and survival of catfish.

Abstract The use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture has caused soil degradation and is harmful to human health. Organic fertilizers made from animal waste have received worldwide attention because they are not detrimental to health or the environment. This paper describes the effect of using organic fertilizers from chicken manure on the growth of papaya plants. A completely randomized design was used in this study using two factors and three repetitions; the variations of the fertilizers given were 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 g. This study informed that organic chicken manure had a significant effect on the growth of oil palm and papaya plants. The best growth is oil palm and papaya plants given 200 g of organic fertilizer from chicken manure.

Many sources of raw materials which allegedly can enrich the nutrient content in the organic fertilizer. The weakness of organic fertilizer for this is the low level of nutrients contained in them.This study aims to determine the nutrient content contained in various combinations of organic fertilizer raw materials with rabbit animal waste as the main raw material.This study aims to determine the nutrient content in various combinations of organic fertilizer raw materials with rabbit animal waste as the main raw material. The study aims to determine the productivity of pinto beans (Arachis pintoi) which is fertilized with differenttypes of organic fertilizer including its dosage. The study was conducted by using a completely randomized design(CRD) within two patterns of factors. Firstly, organic fertilizers are cow dung (S) and chicken manure (A). Secondly,dosages without fertilizer (D0), 15 tons/ha dosages (D1), 20 tons/ha dosages (D2), dosage of 25 tons/ha (D3); anddosage of 30 tons/ ha (D4) of organic fertilizers. The variables observed were plant height, number of branches,number of leaves, leaf dry weight, stem dry weight, total forage dry weight, leaf areat and leaf dry weight ratio withstem dry weight. The results showed no interaction between the type and dosage of fertilizer in which the growthand production of pinto beans (Arachis pintoi) gave the same results by fertilizing with 25-30 tons/ha dosagesof chicken manure. It can be concluded that increasing the productivity of pinto beans (Arachis pintoi) can befertilized with 25-30 tons/ha dosages of chicken manure

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah didapatkan metode pengendalian penyakit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila pada budi daya ikan yang ramah lingkungan. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan uji sensitivitas terhadap bakteri A. hydrophila, uji minimal konsentrasi menghambat  bakteri A. hydrophila (uji MIC) dan uji toksisitas terhadap ikan nila. Rancangan  yang digunakan untuk  uji toksisitas  adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu A  = Ikan disuntik dengan ekstrak bangkal konsentrasi 20%, B  = Ikan disuntik dengan ekstrak bangkal konsentrasi 40%,  C  = Ikan disuntik dengan ekstrak bangkal konsentrasi 80%, dan D  = Kontrol (ikan tidak disuntik), diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Perlakuan ini didapat dari hasil uji sensitivitas antibakteri bangkal yang mempunyai daya hambat dan daya bunuh paling besar terhadap bakteri A. hydrophila yaitu ekstrak daun bangkal dengan pelarut akuades. Pengujian MIC menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak bangkal-akuades memiliki daya hambat minimal  20 % terhadap aktivitas bakteri A. hydrophila. Hasil uji toksisitas yang dilakukan terhadap ikan nila dengan konsentrasi 20%, 40% dan 80%  mortalitas ikan nila dibawah 50 %. Pengamatan hematologis yaitu eretrosit, leokosit, plasma darah, hematokrit dan leokokrit pada masing-masing perlakuan sebagian besar masih berada dalam kisaran yang normal. Parameter kualitas air yaitu, kadar oksigen terlarut,  pH, amoniak, CO2 dan suhu masih dapat mendukung kehidupan normal ikan nila.The purpose of this study was obtained method of controlling diseases caused by Aeromonas hydrophila in fish farming is environmentally friendly. In this study the sensitivity of the test  A. hydrophila, a minimum test konsentari inhibiting A. hydrophila (MIC test) and toxicity test on  tilapia. The design used for toxicity tests is completely randomized design with 4 treatments it A = Fish injected with extracts bangkal concentration of 20 %,  B = Fish injected with extracts bangkal concentration of 40 %, C = Fish injected with extracts of 80 % concentration bangkal, and D = Control ( fish not injected ), repeated 3 times. This treatment was obtained from the results of the sensitivity test antibacterial bangkal inhibition and has the power to kill most of the bacteria against A. hydrophila is bangkal leaf extract with distilled water solvent. MIC testing showed that the extract bangkal - distilled water has a minimum of 20 % inhibition of the bacterial activity A. hydrophila. Results of toxicity tests conducted on tilapia with a concentration of 20 %, 40 % and 80 % mortality of tilapia under 50 %. Haematological observation that eretrosit, leokosit, blood plasm, hematocrit and leokokrit in each treatment is still in the normal range. The water quality parameters, dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia, CO2 and temperature can still support the normal life of tilapia.
