Introduction: A dental graduate face difficulties in establishing his private setup after graduation. It is essential to introduce entrepreneurial content in undergraduate education. The efficacy of students to launch their practice is known as Entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE). This study is aimed to asses ESE in order to implement practice management education. Methodology: A quantitative study was conducted in Lahore by selecting two dental colleges i.e. UCD, University of Lahore and De'montomorency College of Dentistry, Lahore. A Pre-validated questionnaire was used that contains 17 items. Descriptive statics were performed. Results were analyzed using SPSS version 23 Results: A total of 216 students participated of the dental colleges involved in the study. Mean score of Entrepreneurial Efficacy was 5.1 Discussion: The students of both institutes somewhat agrees to their entrepreneurial self-efficacy. They felt less confidence in their ability to search, plan and marshal to establish their dental setup. Conclusion: There is a need to introduce entrepreneurial education at the undergraduate level to strengthen the practice management skills of our dental graduates.

Dental education aims to produce competent graduates with the ability to provide quality care to the patients and facilitate the smooth integration into professional practice. The objective of this study was to explore the overall preparedness of graduands for integrating into professional practice. The survey was tested for reliability and analysed the career paths, learning preferences, overall knowledge, and confidence amongst graduating dentists in integrating and managing a dental practice on graduation. Sixty-nine students (89.6%) in age group of 20–50 years participated in the study. Students indicated a high level of confidence in their skills and ability to work in a team in a practice or collaboratively with other colleagues and specialists but expressed some reservation on their practice management skills (73.1%). Challenges in gaining employment and pressures to repay educational debts are amongst the reasons for graduands preferring a paid job immediately on graduation regardless of demographics. Students indicated that an increase in speciality training and clinical/outreach placements could enhance employability. This study explores the students’ perception of their confidences, knowledge, learning preferences, and practice management skills as a method of evaluating their preparedness to practice on graduation and provides a base line for curriculum structuring to prepare graduands to enter the competitive dental work force.

Oral cancer is an important aspect of dentistry and should be screened for daily in day to day practice. A systematic cross-sectional survey was conducted. 183 dental students participated in the study by answering a self- administered validated questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of sixteen questions, relating to the knowledge, attitude and practice. The statistical analysis was conducted using Pearson’s chi-square testing.73.8 % of students had accurate overall knowledge regarding Oral Cancer, which was satisfactory. About 32.2% of students claimed to have adequate up-to-date knowledge regarding the prevention and detection of oral cancer. 81.4% students had appropriate attitude towards Oral Cancer. 88% of students employed apposite practice management skills with respect to examining patients for any cancerous lesions and took efforts for counselling the patient. Yet, 97.8% of students demanded additional training regarding identification and prevention of oral cancer.The study suggestively indicated that the dental students have satisfactory knowledge, attitude and are cognizant in examining for symptoms of oral cancer. No significant difference between knowledge /attitude/ practices about oral cancer amongst the three undergraduate years. Additionally, innovative and didactically orientated programmes should be reinforced to upsurge awareness which will aid in timely detection.The main objective of the study was to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, practice concerning oral cancer amongst undergraduate dental students of Maharashtra Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Dental College, Latur, Maharashtra, India. Abstract Background Enhancing self-efficacy to manage symptoms and functions is an important aspect of self-management for patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Many reports have investigated the effects of self-management education programmes for arthritis patients. However, a study that exclusively focuses on patients with OA in the same joints is required to clarify the effects of self-management programmes because individuals with knee OA experience physical and psychological difficulties different from those experienced by individuals with other arthritis diseases. Furthermore, previous studies have reported a wide range of delivery styles of self-management education programmes. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effects of group-based and face-to-face self-management education programmes conducted by health professionals targeting self-efficacy for knee OA exclusively. Methods The MEDLINE, CENTRAL, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web of Science, and PEDro databases were searched to identify quantitative measures used in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the effects of self-management education programmes targeting self-efficacy in patients with knee OA. We included studies in which medical professional-delivered self-management education programmes were conducted in a group-based and face-to-face manner in community or outpatient settings. Results Seven RCTs from five countries were included in this review. Our retrieved studies included various types of self-management education programmes such as cognitive behavioural counselling, pain management education, physical education, weight management education, and arthritis self-efficacy management education, and control arms. They assessed various aspects of self-efficacy, including pain, physical function, arthritis symptoms excluding pain, weight management, mobility, and self-regulation. The total score of the Arthritis Self-Efficacy Scale was also measured. Some studies have reported beneficial effects of group-based and face-to-face self-management education programmes on self-efficacy for management of pain and other symptoms and for self-regulatory, knee OA. However, the results of the included studies were varied and inconsistent. Conclusions The current review only included seven studies, and there was a wide range of clinical heterogeneity among these studies. Thus, the effects of group-based and face-to-face self-management education programmes conducted by health professionals on self-efficacy for knee OA exclusively are inconclusive to date. Therefore, high-quality studies are required to provide significant information on clinicians, patients, and healthcare professionals in the future.

AbstractProcrastination is consistently viewed as problematic to academic success and students’ general well-being. There are prevailing questions regarding the underlying and maintaining mechanisms of procrastination which are yet to be learnt. The aim of the present study was to combine different ways to explain procrastination and explore how students’ time and effort management skills, psychological flexibility and academic self-efficacy are connected to procrastination as they have been commonly addressed separately in previous studies. The data were collected from 135 students who participated in a voluntary time management and well-being course in autumn 2019. The results showed that students’ ability to organize their time and effort has the strongest association with procrastination out of the variables included in the study. Psychological flexibility also has a strong individual role in explaining procrastination along with time and effort management skills. Surprisingly, academic self-efficacy did not have a direct association with procrastination. Interestingly, our findings further suggest that time and effort management and psychological flexibility are closely related and appear to go hand in hand and, thus, both need to be considered when the aim is to reduce procrastination. The implications of the findings are further discussed.

During the COVID-19 confinement, we converted our clinical simulation sessions into simulated video consultations. This study aims to evaluate the effects of virtual simulation-based training on developing and cultivating humanization competencies in undergraduate nursing students. A quasi-experimental study was conducted with 60 undergraduate nursing students. A validated questionnaire was used to evaluate the acquisition of humanization competencies (self-efficacy, sociability, affection, emotional understanding, and optimism). The development of humanization competencies in this group composed of undergraduate nursing students was evaluated using virtual simulation-based training, comparing the levels obtained in these competencies at baseline (pre-test) and after the virtual simulation experience (post-test). After the virtual simulation sessions, students improved their levels in humanization total score and the emotional understanding and self-efficacy competencies, obtaining large effects sizes in all of them (rB = 0.508, rB = 0.713, and rB = 0.505 respectively). This virtual simulation modality enables training in the humanization of care with the collaboration of standardized patients in the form of simulated nursing video consultations and the performance of high-fidelity simulation sessions that comply with the requirements of best practices. Therefore, this methodology could be considered as another choice for virtual simulation. Additionally, this virtual modality could be a way to humanize virtual simulation.

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of type II thinking style on career decision self-efficacy through planned happenstance skills through mediation of planned happenstance skills in adolescence. There was 720 students from three excellence schools who were participated in this quantitative study. The data were collected by using three scales: Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form, Thinking Style Inventory – Revised II, and Planned Happenstance Career Inventory, that have been adapted to Indonesian version by the researcher and previous researchers. The researchers were used macro PROCESS to analyzed the data. The result showed type II thinking style can affect career decision self-efficacy partially ( c = .3280, p = .0000; c’ = .1917, p = .0000). Based on the result of this study, we concluded when adolescents have good quality of planned happenstance skills, it can help adolescence who have type II thinking style have a good career decision self-efficacy.

Abstract Background: To evaluate the self-confidence of undergraduate dental students in relation to oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) in order to assess the teaching curriculum at Kuwait University using a validated questionnaire originally developed by the Association of British Academic Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABAOMS).Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 6th year (n=20) and 7th- year (n=19) dentistry students was conducted Kuwait University Faculty of Dentistry between the 1st and 15th May 2020. The ABAOMS questionnaire is composed of 17 questions assessing various areas of the undergraduate OMFS curriculum. The response options to the questionnaire utilised a Likert scale. Independent sample t-tests were performed to assess the difference in responses between the two year groups. Spearman’s Rho correlations were calculated to measure the strength of association between confidence in all aspects of surgical and forceps exodontia.Results: A total of 39 questionnaires were completed by the students. The majority of students expressed that they feel confident that they have enough knowledge to undertake independent practice (61%). General aspects of the questionnaire were answered favourably except for surgical extraction of teeth, in which both classes reported a lower level of self-confidence.Conclusions: This survey revealed the students’ self-confidence in undertaking independent practice and preforming basic oral surgery procedures. Students felt comfortable with exodontia using forceps and elevators, root removal, managing acute pericoronitis, managing haemorrhage from a socket, assessing impacted teeth, and recognising the clinical features of potentially malignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity. They reported a lower level of confidence for performing surgical procedures. The ABAOMS survey instrument is a useful and thorough tool to assess the self-confidence of dental students according to their undergraduate oral and maxillofacial surgery teaching.
