Spring onion was a type of food plant that has long been known and cultivated in developing countries. Bergas District, Semarang Regency, has an area that makes scallions a leading agricultural sector. This study aimed to determine the factors that affect the income of leek farming. The method of determining the location used was purposive with simple random sampling for Collecting samples. Data analysis using OLS with the Cobb Douglas function. The results showed that the factors of land area, labor, seeds, and manure had a significant effect on the income of leek farmers. More efforts are needed to innovate and have the courage to cultivate leeks not only with an intercropping system so that income from farming can be higher.

ABSTRACTThe Spring onion (Allium fistulosum L) is one of the vegetables that deserve intensive development, since it has high economic value and in Indonesia it is used as both a mainstay and a highly popular mix of food. The notable physical change of the leaf during the storage process is the change in leaf color, elegance, decay, and stupobility. Product destruction affects a degree of freshness during distribution because it cannot last long, so proper postposte treatment is required to reduce the rate of respiration of the spring onion after the harvest and other factors that can cause decline in quality. This study is aimed at figuring out the effect that packaging has on storing leeks and knowing the correct packaging for storing leeks. The method used was the heavy shrink measurement, the color and texture of the leaf. The experimental used was a Random design complete (RAL) design with 4 such treatments as unpacked treatment, kraft paper packaging, kitchen tissues and plastic wrap each 3 times the test. The spring onion is heavy with an average of 32.50% non-packaged treatment, paper kraft 45.61%, kitchen tissue 37.54% and plastic wrap 48.38%. A relatively small or slow change in color and texture change is the packing treatment used as a plastic wrap. Based on research conducted, it could be concluded that packaging has had a tangible effect on the storing of Spring onion. Wrap a plastic wrap that can extend the leeks' saving period, since Spring onion packed in plastic wrap shrinkage are relatively small, the color of the leaf and the texture of the bar do not easily wither and decay.Keywords: Spring onion, Packaging, Storage Period

Due to the rising market demands of spring onion (Allium fistulosum L.) it is necessary to response them with the best technical plantation. This research is meant to know: (1) the effective plant spacing, (2) the effective seedlings tuber cutting, and (3) to decide the interaction between plant spacing and the seedlings tuber cutting spring onion. The research was done on April 2018 until June 2018 at Dusun Gewok, Desa Karanggintung, Kecamatan Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas. The design of the research is a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors. The first factor is the plant spacing which consist of 3 levels, (15 x 20) cm, (20 x 20) cm, and (25 x 20) cm. The second factor is seedling tuber cutting which consist 3 levels, without cutting, cutting ½ part, and cutting 2/3 part. The data analyzed using F test, then continued using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) on level 5%. The result showed that the most effective to reach the higher level and the best yield is the plant spacing 15 cm x 20 cm with 1.729 g, the seedlings tuber cutting ½ part raise the hight of the plant 56,12 cm, and there is no best combination between the spacing of the seedlings to cut the seedlings to increase the growth and yield of the spring onion.

A field experiment was aimed at investigating the effect of natural guano organic fertilizers on growth and yield of Spring Onion (Allium fistulosum L.). The experiment was conducted from September to Nopember, 2014 in Unamendaa Village, Kolaka District. It was prepared by using a randomized block design  (RBD) with single factor namely doses of natural guano organic fertilizers. The treatments consisted of 4 levels were : (1) G0 = control or no treatment, (2) G1 = dose of 6 kg unit-1 (equivalent to 5 t. ha-1), (3) G2 = dose of 12 kg unit-1 (equivalent to 10 t. ha-1) and (4) G3 = dose of 18 kg unit-1 (equivalent to 15 t. ha-1), respectively. Every treatment was replicated 3 times, therefore overall there were 12 experimental units. Data was collected on growth and yield parameters of Spring Onion : (1) plant height, (2) number of leaves, (3) number of tillers, (4) diameters of stem and (5) yield (plant fresh weight unit-1). Data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (Anova) and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 1 % level. The result of experiments showed that fertilizations using natural guano organic was significantly affected on : plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, diameter of stem and plant fresh weight, respectively. Untill fertilization of 18 kg unit-1 (G3) were able to increased the growth and yield of Spring Onion, hence it was showed better performance on all parameters
