Objective: To observe if dental alterations in premolars are associated with the rupture of the follicle bone crypt caused by a periapical lesion in the predecessor molars. Study design: This is a cross-sectional study. Data collection consisted of the analysis of medical records, a socioeconomic questionnaire, and dental clinical examination. Records from patients with a history of a radiographically visible periapical lesion in lower primary molars submitted to pulp therapy or extraction from a university dental clinic were selected. Successor premolars were clinically evaluated for the presence of enamel development defects, shape alterations, and eruption deviations. The descriptive analysis of data was performed, and Fisher’s exact tests, linear trend chi-square, and the Student’s t-test were applied. Results: Forty-eight permanent teeth were from 36 patients were evaluated in this study, and 20 (41.7%) of the 48 examined premolars showed a radiographic image suggestive of the rupture of the bone crypt. Rupture of the follicle bone crypt was not associated with the occurrence of enamel alterations in premolars (p = 0.418). An association between dental alterations and age over six years at the time of intervention was observed (p = 0.043). Conclusion: The presence of enamel alterations of premolars was not associated with the rupture of the follicle bone crypt caused by a periapical lesion in predecessor molars.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the attainments and their descriptions, and units of the 11th grade level Turkish Philosophy curriculum, introduced in Turkey in the academic year 2018-2019 in order to display its advantages and disadvantages. In this study, a qualitative research method ‘document analysis technique’ was used. The attainments of the curriculum what learning domains they corresponded to and what level of behavior they represented were analyzed. The study, found that all the attainments belonged to the cognitive domain and that out of the 21 attainments, 10 of them corresponded to representative behaviors at the comprehension level, 5 of them at the analysis level, 5 of them at the evaluation level and 1 of them at the knowledge level. The units integrated in the curriculum that referred to the periods of history of philosophy were named differently from widely accepted names used Philosophy literature. The descriptions of the attainments did not fully reflect the scope of some attainments and neglected some periods in the history of philosophy. Nevertheless, the curriculum had positive qualities such as philosophical writing, text reading and the inclusion of Turkish-Islamic philosophers. The study recommends that the identified problems should be resolved to make the curriculum functional and eliminate its defects.

Teacher education has been one of the most debated topics in history of Turkish education. At the beginning of the teacher's career, the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MONE) implemented the Candidate Teacher Training Program in 2016, so the teachers accepted to the profession were qualified as “candidate teachers” and they were subjected to the training process. The aim of this research is to examine the opinions of the mentor teachers regarding the Candidate Teacher Training Program implemented by the Turkish MONE for the training of candidate teachers. This research, which is a qualitative case study, was conducted with the participation of 36 teachers who are mentors to candidate teachers within the Candidate Teacher Training Program in the schools, which were affiliated to MONE in Kastamonu province center and its districts. The data of the study were collected by means of a semi-structured interview form. The data obtained in the research were analyzed with descriptive analysis and content analysis approaches. Mentor teachers thought that the Candidate Teacher Training Program is beneficial because the program provided the candidate teachers with the opportunities to identify students, acquire educational-instructional competence, acquire managerial knowledge, and identify the school and the social environment. However mentor teachers stated that they have experienced some problems related to the process such as filling in forms, some problems resulting from the candidate teacher, and time inadequacy.

Legal regulations about education and educational policies are important for the quality of the practices. It has been seen that many countries invest in the education of the individuals who will form a qualified society in the future and focus on the teacher training and quality. The teachers have a great role in determining the exceptionally talented individuals in Turkey, their education, directing their performances in accordance with their interests and talents, enabling them to benefit from support education. Accordingly, in order to determine what kind of competency the teachers gain regarding this pre-service area, the courses in the special education teaching undergraduate programs regarding the exceptionally talented area in European Union (EU) and Turkey have been investigated in terms of number, term and credit content. Qualitative research method and document analysis technique are used in the descriptive study which aims to determine an existing situation. The data were obtained from education reports published by EU member countries about their own education systems, United Nations Children Rights and Education reports and Council of Higher Education’s Teacher Training Programs. For example, the preservice teachers are given theoretical information in the first classes, then receive education in which they can observe and show effective teaching skills with a mentor in the following years in the countries such as Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Luxemburg, and Malta.
