As education becomes accepted as a service like any other, the market for trade of education services has developed significantly, with a diversity of providers competing to provide education outside their national boundaries. As well as providing an international experience to students, this can facilitate the sharing of expertise among students, educators, and policy makers who can learn from successes in other countries. This appears to be particularly important in the education market for software engineers and computing professionals, where the knowledge base is rapidly evolving. This requires, however, careful management of the service provision, which results in increased focus on quality assurance. Assuring quality is made difficult by many factors, some shared with quality assurance of education in general, and others unique to the international context. We present seven factors that represent the core challenges for the quality assurance of international higher education, and as such, represent a valuable tool for computing educators and others either currently involved in, or intending to become involved in, the international education market.

Abstract This study — carried out in May 2020, early on during the COVID-19 pandemic - examines the situation in the Polish e-education market, as perceived by secondary school and university students who consume e-education services and by the providers of such services. Firstly, to set the stage, in-depth interviews were carried out with eight owners of companies offering commercial e-education services. Next, an extensive online survey was carried out among secondary school and university students in the 2019–2020 school/academic year using the CAWI method on a sample of 803 respondents — with secondary school students (group I) accounting for 30% of the sample and university students (group II) making up the remaining 70% — concerning their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with e-education services. Taken together, the findings allow for an assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning and point to the increased demand for e-education services during the pandemic, in tandem with a continually shifting e-education services market.

Discussed is the problem of market relationships within higher school and in particular a notion from the sphere of paid-for education services, that is, a notion of soft commodification, under which the results of theoretical investigation are turned by the author of the investigation into a teaching material that may become a successful produce for the education market. This work is based on a wish to give a practical turn to fundamental research and even use the results of research in purely practical teaching activity. The practical tinge should be searched at advanced levels of an “educational institution — student” economic relationships, when the above dual combination embraces actors such as “research”, “author”, “textbook”, so that it looks as follows: “educational institution — author — research — author — textbook — student”. It is emphasized that the highest achievement as well as a thing of deserved pride for a scholar is his/her ability to make the results of his/her research understandable for students. This is what the author calls for, when he points out that a skill for transforming theory into a teaching material is highly valuable at present. This is an ability to distribute one’s work in the academic space in such a way that it fills in both its scholarly and educational parts and simultaneously enters the education market. The author offers an example of turning research results into a teaching matter. A sample textbook is based on the investigation of justice.

The world has been surprised by the emergence of a COVID 19 pandemic, was born in China, and widespread to various countries in the world. In Indonesia, the government issued several policies to break the COVID 19 pandemic chain, which also triggered some pro-cons in the midst of society. One of the policies government takes is the closure of learning access directly at school and moving the learning process from physical class to a virtual classroom or known as online learning. In the economic sector also affects the parents’ financial ability to provide sufficient funds to support the implementation of distance learning applied by the government. The implications of the distance education policy are of course the quality of learning, including the subjects of Islamic religious education, which is essentially aimed at planting knowledge, skills, and religious consciousness to form the character of the students. Online education must certainly be precise, in order to provide equal education services to all students, prepare teachers to master the technology, and seek the core learning of Islamic religious education can still be done well.
