The Volhynian Gymnasium (and since 1818 Lyceum) in Kremenets was one of the most important Polish schools of the first half of the 19th century. Raising it to the rank of a lyceum coincided with the creation of the University of Warsaw. The new school on academic level operating in the city of the Society of Friends of Science (Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk) aroused interest among students in Kremenets. More than a dozen of them entered the University. Moreover, teachers of the school were invited to collaborate with the University of Warsaw. In 1830 a doctor from Kremenets, Karol Kaczkowski, became university professor and head of the clinic of internal medicine. He left memoirs in which he colourfully described professors of the medical faculty. On the other hand, Alojzy Feliński, who was offered professorship at the University of Warsaw, preferred a job in Kremenets. Besides scientific contacts there were also social relationships and family ties. Alojzy Osiński, brother of a University of Warsaw professor, Ludwik Osiński, taught Polish and Latin literature in Kremenets.

Esta investigación surge de una reflexión relacionada con la importancia de conocer y explorar las concepciones del profesor universitario sobre la investigación, en un intento por abrir una brecha nueva que permita entender y comprender las prácticas investigativas del maestro de licenciaturas en educación. Se eligieron dos universidades, una privada y otra pública en la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, para realizar esta investigación cualitativa,de naturaleza descriptiva - exploratorio, utilizando un cuestionario estructurado, para facilitar el proceso de develación de las concepciones del profesor universitario. Este trabajo de investigación es parte del macro proyecto sobre concepciones desarrollado en la Maestría en Educación de la Universidad Santo Tomás de Aquino.ABSTRACT:This research stems of reflection regarding the importance of knowing and explore the concepts of teacher for university research in a attempt to open a new gap that allows to  understand and understand the practices master investigative degrees. Two were selected universities, one private and one public in the city of Cartagena de Indias to perform this qualitative research, descriptive and exploratory, to we designed a questionnaire structured to facilitate the process identification of the concepts of university professor. This work research is a part of the macro project concepts developed in the Masters in Education from the University of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Without further ado, our really fabulous group of speakers. We will begin with Professor Alex Aleinikoff. He is the university professor and director of the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at The New School in New York City, formerly the United Nations (UN) deputy high commissioner for Refugees, and before that dean of the Georgetown Law School here in Washington. After that we will be hearing from Alice Thomas, who is the climate displacement program manager for Refugees International. And then Michelle Leighton, who is the chief of the Labor Migration Branch of the International Labor Organization.

Among the several human skeletal reference collections that have been amassed in Portugal, there is one that has remained in nearly anonymity for its almost entire existence. The collection was initiated by Mendes Correia who collected abandoned skeletal remains from cemeteries of the city of Porto circa 1912-1917. Over the years and for unknown reasons its original documentation was lost and the collection has been treated as an unidentified assemblage of specimens for many years. Two previously unnoticed publications from the 1920’s were found to have published basic biographic data for each individual in the collection, thus restituting some of the lost information. The surviving Mendes Correia Collection is currently located at the Natural History Museum and at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. It is comprised of 99 individuals of known sex, age, and nativity, whose skeletons are found in various states of completeness. They represent a segment of the population of the city of Porto who were born throughout the 19th century. It is hoped that the information gathered and provided here can restore some of the lost research value of the Mendes Correia skeletal reference collection.

1519 was a special year for the city of Poznań, owing to the foundation of a new school, the Lubrański Academy. It was the first school of humanities in Poland to follow the best models of Renaissance education and employed illustrious teachers like Krzysztof Hegendorfer and Benedykt Herbest. In the 16th century, the Academy was considered a rival of Krakow University; ultimately in the early 17th century, the Academy was affiliated with the University. As a result of the affiliation, the Poznań school enjoyed stability, a group of experienced teachers and a curriculum recognized by the society. The curriculum stood out in Poland by its inclusion of practical preparation for performing various political functions, especially in the field of law, and, as in other educational institutions, by preparing young people for cultural life in the country. Its relations with Krakow University also had drawbacks: during the Enlightenment reforms of the education system, the Lubrański Academy adopted a conservative and reactionary position. Despite this, the authorities managed to introduce several modern solutions, especially in the realm of teaching modern foreign languages.

The considerations and reflections referred in this article are results of a qualitative approach research, as a study case, done with 15 professors who teach at a college in the city of Curitiba where majors for technologists are developed, and it also aimed at identifying the teaching methodology adopted by the educators in their pedagogical practice, and if there is any investment on their continuous education, having in mind the educational obstacles educators have been facing in this new century. In the discussions, the investigating process took into account the challenges demanded by the adoption of an innovative, dialogical and cooperative educational attitude which, in a participative and critical manner, needs the adoption of strategies that stimulate the creativity, construction and reconstruction of meaningful knowledge. In that innovative context, the educator must consider the social, political and economic practice. Thus, the educator must adopt a new complexity paradigm (MORIN, 2000, 2001, 2009), in which the educational and methodological process require a proactive attitude in the sense of investing in his/her continuous professional development, especially when it comes to pedagogical practice, using technological resources in the benefit of a collaborative and mediating educational action.

The research aims to identify the role of information technology in the development of university professor performance from the perspective of faculty members in Garmeyan / Kalar University, as well as to identify the degree of availability of information assets at the university, and the skill of information for teachers, and constraints.   To achieve this, I rely The search sample of professors Garmeyan University (within the geographical location of the city of Kalar) consisting of (40) as a teacher, which formed 35% of the study population, has been collecting data using a questionnaire composed of four sections: Section I: included preliminary information and section II: This included paragraphs information on the university's assets in the field of IT, and section III includes informatics areas, which included 29 items distributed among three sub-areas, namely (resource of knowledge, software, hardware and tools), section IV has included question about the main obstacles to the employment of informatics at the university.  It was processing the data statistically using the arithmetic mean and standard deviation, the research found a number of conclusions the most important, the Informatics major role in the development of university professor performance from the viewpoint of the sample surveyed, as well as having some of the obstacles employ informatics in the field of university professor tasks.

Cecco d’Ascoli (c. 1269–1327) was the diminutive used by the writer and poet Francesco Stabili, from the commune of Ascoli Piceno in central Italy. He was a lecturer on astrology at the University of Bologna, best known for being burnt at the stake as a relapsed heretic. He was first convicted of heresy in Bologna in 1324 by the inquisitor Lambert of Cingoli (fl. 1316–1324), who stripped him of his lectureship and forbade him to practice astrology. Cecco moved to Florence where he became the court astrologer of Duke Charles of Calabria (1298–1328), then ruler of the city. However, he was quickly caught up in the politics of the ducal court. His rivalry with Duke Charles’s chancellor, the Bishop of Aversa, led to the Inquisition’s file on him being reopened. In 1327, following an investigation by the Florentine inquisitor, Accursius, Cecco was found to have relapsed into heresy and was burnt outside the Church of Santa Croce. It is likely that Cecco earned a master of the arts degree at Bologna before being appointed to teach astrology in about 1315. Astrology was then considered an essential adjunct to the practice of medicine and physicians were expected to be competent in casting horoscopes. Material from his lectures is preserved in his Latin commentaries, including one on the Sphere of John Sacrobosco (d. c. 1250). The Commentary on the Sphere was specifically condemned to be burned in 1327 at the same time as Cecco. Cecco also composed a long poem in Italian on the nature of the universe, with a focus on astrology and magic, called l’Acerba. This was also condemned by the Inquisition at the time of his execution. The poem of 4,867 lines is in five books, the last of which was left unfinished at the time of his death. L’Acerba covers the constitution of the heavens (Book 1), virtues and vices (Book 2), the magical properties of minerals and a bestiary (Book 3), questions of natural philosophy (Book 4), and an incomplete theology (Book 5). It is widely interpreted as a criticism of the natural philosophy of Dante Alighieri. It enjoyed some popularity in the early modern period, most likely because of the notoriety of its author. During the 19th century, Cecco’s fate at the hands of the Inquisition led to a revival of his reputation as a potential “martyr of science.” Since then, it has become clear that Cecco’s interests were not “scientific” in the modern sense and most scholarly attention has consequently been focused on l’Acerba.

It was five minutes to ten oclock on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2004, and Jennifer Coleman was anxiously driving back and forth on B Street in Hayward, looking for a restaurant called CafBijoux. Jennifer had a ten oclock appointment with Julie Sanders and Mary Carter, the managers and co-owners of CafBijoux but there was no visible sign of the restaurant. After circling around several more times, Jennifer finally spotted a small sign in a window that said CafBijoux.Jennifer Coleman was a university professor of marketing and a marketing consultant in the city of Hayward, California. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of the university invited Jennifer to help CafBijouxs management as part of its cooperative effort with the city to provide assistance to small businesses in need of and interested in consulting services in the universitys service area. The purpose of the Jennifers meeting that morning was to go over the caf current business situation and to establish a mutual understanding about Jennifers deliverables.At 10:05 am, Jennifer walked into CafBijoux and introduced herself to Julie and Mary. Jennifer apologized for being late and indicated that she had some difficulty in finding the restaurant. Julie said, Yes, I know that we really need a store sign but we did not have enough money to get one. It would cost at least $2000. We had some customers complaining about that but we just couldnt afford it. Our business has been terrible and we were hoping that you would be able to tell us how we can improve. Jennifer replied, Thats what I am here for. But first, I need to learn as much about the caf business from you as I can. Jennifer explained that the primary goals of the meeting were for her to learn about the caf current situation and to explore the next course of action. Both Julie and Mary agreed upon the plan.

Abstract The article studies the existence experience of historical cities as centers of tourism development as in the case of Elabuga. The city of Elabuga is among the historical cities of Russia. The major role in the development of the city as a tourist center is played by the Elabuga State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve. The object of the research in the article is Elabuga as a medium-size historical city. The subject of the research is the activity of the museum-reserve which contributes to the preservation and development of the historical look of Elabuga and increases its attractiveness to tourists. The tourism attractiveness of Elabuga is obtained primarily through the presence of the perfectly preserved historical center of the city with the blocks of integral buildings of the 19th century. The Elabuga State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, which emerged in 1989, is currently an object of historical and cultural heritage of federal importance. Museum-reserves with their significant territories and rich historical, cultural and natural heritage have unique resources for the implementation of large partnership projects. Such projects are not only aimed at attracting a wide range of tourists, but also stimulate interest in the reserve from the business elite, municipal and regional authorities. The most famous example is the Spasskaya Fair which revived in 2008 in Elabuga. It was held in the city since the second half of the 19th century, and was widely known throughout Russia. The process of the revival and successful development of the fair can be viewed as the creation of a special tourist event contributing to the formation of new and currently important tourism products.
