Background: Knowledge sharing within an organization plays a key role in developing scientific production. Objectives: The present study aimed to predict the knowledge sharing intention among the faculty members of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS), Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 154 faculty members of KUMS in the spring of 2019. Participants were selected via random sampling with a probability proportional to size. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 16 using independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), bivariate correlations, and linear regression analysis at 95% significance level. Results: The most significant predictors of knowledge sharing intention were attitude (β = 0.387) and perceived behavioral control (β = 0.215). In addition, the predictive constructs of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control constituted 25% of the variation in the outcome measure of knowledge sharing intention. Conclusions: According to the results, designing interventions focusing on the constructs of attitude and perceived behavior control could yield beneficial findings for promoting knowledge sharing among faculty members.

Background: Plagiarism is one of the most common and important misconducts in the educational and research environment. Plagiarism means transcribing the works or ideas of others without authenticating the source and the original author and assigning them to self. Objectives: The current research aimed to investigate the socio-cognitive constructs associated with plagiarism among Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) students using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). Methods: This cross-sectional study was done at KUMS, the west of Iran, among 231 medical university students in 2018, which were selected randomly to participate voluntarily. Students filled out a self-report questionnaire that included the demographics and TPB variables. Data gathered were analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 16) using a t-test, Pearson correlation, and linear regression. Results: The determinants of attitude, subjective norms (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) accounted for 15% of behavioral intention (BI) to plagiarism. Linear regression showed that SN (beta = 0.229; P = 0.001) and PBC (beta = -0.217; P = 0.001) were the most influential predictors of plagiarism intention. Conclusions: According to the result, it seems that planning programs to increase perceived behavioral control against doing plagiarism and reduce subjective norms encouraging plagiarism may be useful for the prevention and reduction of plagiarism among university students.

Background: Motivation is defined as the development of an individual’s desire to succeed and participate in the activities in which success depends on personal effort and ability. Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the status of achievement motivation in university students. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 182 medical, dentistry, and pharmacology students at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS), Iran in 2018. The participants were selected via simple random sampling with a probability appropriate to the selected sample size. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 16 using chi-square and t-test at the significance level of 95%. Results: The mean age of the participants was 21.14 ± 1.68 years (age range: 19 - 25 years). The mean score of achievement motivation was 77.64 ± 7.35, which indicated that the participants obtained 66.93% of the maximum score. In addition, 89.5% and 10.5% of the students had moderate and favorable achievement motivation, respectively. Achievement motivation was significantly correlated with age (P = 0.031), male gender (P = 0.022), and maternal education level (P = 0.018). Conclusions: According to the results, the achievement motivation of the majority of the KUMS students was moderate. Therefore, proper planning is required to improve the achievement motivation of these students.

Background: The California Supplement Nutrition Program Women, Infants and Children (WIC) offer a Cash-Value (CV) voucher for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables that can be used at Certified Farmers’ Markets (CFM). Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with redeeming WIC CV vouchers at (CFM) among English and Spanish speakers. Introduction: Immunisations for BCG, DTP, Poliomyelitis, Hepatitis, and MMR are compulsory for children under 5 years old in Indonesia and government-provided free services. However, the available records indicated that adherence to the program remains a challenge. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with mothers’ intention to comply with the immunization program, particularly among those who had children of younger than one year old.Methods: The study was conducted through a cross-sectional analysis. Fourty-six mothers self-registered them selves as participants of this study. The data were collected through check-listed interviews, to investigate the correlations between social factors, information factors, attitude toward behaviour, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, and intention to adhere to the compulsory immunization program. The data were then analysed using logistic regression and spearman rank test with significance level of α=0.05.Results: Mothers’ attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and knowledge have significant correlations with the intention in completing the immunisation program for their children (respectively p = 0.009; 0.014; 0.025; 0.038). Their intention positively correlated with adherence to complete the program (p=0,002). However, other factors studied did not correlate either with mothers’ intention to adherence to the program.Conclusion: This study suggests that mothers’ intention is influenced by family members suggestions, indicating that their capacity in decision making was limited and relying to other member. Further investigation is required to unveil the underlying reasons of being non-adherence.

College students are heavy consumers of energy beverages, yet further study is needed to better understand determinants of use. The purpose of this cross-sectional study ( N = 283) was to identify beliefs explaining unsafe consumption practices. A principal components analysis revealed three eigenvalues >1 explaining approximately 55% of the variance (health and appearance, performance and fatigue, and recreation and alcohol). Multiple regression analysis explained 75% of the variance for intent to consume. Standardized beta for attitude and subjective norms was p < .001; perceived behavioral control was p < .05. MANOVA was used to determine the effect of gender on eight dependent variables (Wilks’s lambda = 3.78, p < .001). Attitudes and subjective norms influenced the intent to consume energy beverages, particularly in males. Students viewed energy beverages as useful for managing health and appearance and performance and fatigue, and as a way to enhance recreation and alcohol consumption.

Background: Assessment drives the student learning. Regular periodical assessment not only improves learning habits, but also enhances the competence in all levels of medical education. Traditional practical examination is more subjective. It depends on examiners subjectivity, varying difficulty level of various experiments, and also internal marks variation etc. These flaws can be overcome by newer methods like OSPE. The aim of the study was to implement OSPE as a tool of internal assessment for practical skills in the II MBBS. To compare this with traditional practical examination (TPE). To obtain the students and faculty feedback regarding OSPE as a tool of assessment.Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out for 158 students in II internal pathology practical examination for six days in the second week of September 2016 at Department of Pathology, Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha institute of medical sciences & Research Foundation, Chinnaoutpalli. Faculty and students were sensitized; blueprint were used to arrange twenty OSPE stations for the exercises conducted as per TPE and for the same 25 marks as per TPE. Simultaneously, all the students were subjected to both TPE and OSPE at the same time and venue. TPE was assessed by two professors and OSPE by separate eight faculty members independently without interaction with the students. The procedural stations were evaluated by using checklist and the response stations which consisted of short answers and MCQs, facilitated correction. Feedback was given to the student on their performance and feedback was obtained from the students and faculty regarding OSPE by questionnaire with Yes/No answers.Results: Performance score of students in OPSE (13.73 ±2.49) was higher as compared to TPE (9.27±1.86) which was statistically significant. Based on the response to the questionnaire, students perception towards OSPE was analyzed. Majority strongly agree OSPE to be fairer, more transparent and objective in comparison to TPE. In contrast, all the faculty members unanimously opined that OSPE was difficult to arrange, time taken and faculty versus students ratio was high for evaluation. Though, the faculty (91%) overall opined that OSPE should be included as a method of assessment.Conclusions: Present study revealed that OSPE was acceptable, feasible and reliable to the students as well as for faculty for the internal assessment in pathology. Opinions of both students and faculties strongly agreed that OPSE is more effective objective assessment tool.

Introduction: Considering the increase in Internet addiction rate, we tried to investigate the rate of internet addiction among medical students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd in 2016. Methods: This analytic-cross-sectional study was performed on 350 students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd. The data collection tool was a demographic questionnaire, and Yang's Internet addiction inventory. The questionnaire contains 20 questions, according to which the person is placed in one of four classes: normal, mild, moderate, and severe. After collecting the data, the data were entered into SPSS 16 software and analyzed using Chi-square and independent t-tests. The significance level was considered less than 0.05. Results: According to Internet addiction, students were 65% normal, 33.3% border lip and 1.7% were addicted to the Internet. The results also showed that there was a significant statistical relationship between the prevalence of internet addiction among students and sex, smoking, and registration in cyberspace (p<0.05), and there was no significant statistical relationship between the prevalence of internet addiction and marital status, place of residence and birthplace (p>0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it can be concluded that by increasing the awareness of medical students, the rate of Internet addiction in them can be minimized

This study aims to compare quality gap of educational services at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences from students and faculties viewpoints. In a cross-sectional study, survey questionnaire was completed by two distinct groups of respondents– 230 faculty members and 384 students. Mass majority of the both groups declared there was negative gap in each of the five dimensions. Mean quality gaps from viewpoint of both groups were negative. The largest mean quality gap from students and faculty members viewpoint was in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions respectively. The largest and smallest differences between students and faculties viewpoint were in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions. ABSTRACT Objective: To assess quality of life, prevalence of depressive and minor psychiatric symptoms in Nursing students. Methods: Cross-sectional study, conducted from March to April 2018, at a federal university. Sample composed of 242 Nursing students, from the 1st to the 8th semester. Data was collected using the quality of life instruments, Beck Depression Inventory and Self-Report Questionnaire. A significance level of 0.05 was considered. Results: The mean age was 22.9 ± 5.1 years. It was found that 25% of the students had severe depressive symptoms and 54% of the students had minor psychiatric disorders, with a higher prevalence in the first semesters. An inverse relationship was observed between the frequency of depressive symptoms and quality of life scores (p = 0.05). Conclusion: Nursing students showed a high prevalence of depressive symptoms, indicating the importance of implementing actions to promote and prevent mental health.
