Background: The pharmaceutical industry has a significant impact on the promotion of health and safety indicators in society. In this knowledge-based industry, the development of companies in complex environments is a function of innovative research, investment, and government regulation to maintain and survive. Given the technical knowledge and specific supportive laws (e.g., patents), being active in such an industry is one of the important criteria in developing countries. Therefore, the generic plan was implemented in Iran with the prospect of taking practical steps toward achieving drug self-sufficiency and acquiring the rank of manufactured pharmaceutical raw materials and branded drugs. Objectives: This study, therefore, aimed to investigate factors affecting innovation performance in establishing a generic plan in the pharmaceutical industry of developing countries. Methods: The statistical population in this descriptive survey consisted of PhD experts involved in the Iranian pharmaceutical industry. To this end, 42 standard questionnaires were distributed based on the conceptual model of the research. Next, the effects of the research variables were analyzed using partial least squares (PLS) structural equations. Results: According to the results, research and development (R&D), product innovation, process innovation, and organization size significantly positively affected innovation performance. In comparison, knowledge management did not substantially affect innovation performance in the Iranian pharmaceutical industry. Conclusions: Due to the introspective developmental approach and the lack of effective communication, a major failure of the generic plan is witnessed within the pharmaceutical industry.

The vital importance of knowledge management, in today’s complicated and changing environment as a source for strategic reconstruction of an organization cannot be denied. Furthermore, the effective sharing of knowledge is one of the most important success factors in an organization. This study aims at predicting the staff’s sharing of knowledge in the central library of the University of Isfahan. The conceptual framework for this study is consisted of the completed model of Theory of Reasoned Action. The statistical population of the current study contains the staffs of central library in university of Isfahan out of which 160 participants were studied by the census method. For the validity evaluation of the model, the structural equations model was applied and based on the results of path analysis relationship between research variables it was confirmed. The research results show that the expected organizational reward, reciprocal benefits, self-efficacy of knowledge, and enjoyment in helping others affect attitude and intention for the sharing of knowledge. The research findings indicate the positive impact of subjective norms on knowledge sharing intentions.

ABSTRACTObjectives: The pharmaceutical market is a complex market due to its complicated supply chain and the extent of government regulations in allaspects of the trade lifecycle of drug development. Considering the importance of pharmaceuticals for society and the relevant trend of globalization,managing pharmaceutical industry effectively and efficiently is vital, particularly in developing countries. The present study determines the factorsaffecting the development of the Iranian pharmaceutical industry based on pharmaceutical mangers’ point of view.Methods: In this study, we assessed managers’ perspective about the internal and external key factors affecting the development of pharmaceuticalindustry. Finally, their perspective about the solutions for the development of pharmaceutical industry was assessed. Accordingly, a self-designedquestionnaire was sent to 65 managers at Tamin Pharmaceutical Investment Company, of which, 51 questionnaires were answered by the managers. Result: Most managers believed generic scheme reflect negatively on the development of the pharmaceutical industry and that external factors havea great impact on its improvement. They believe that branded generic transition along with supporting regulations, investment in Research andDevelopment, and joint venture with foreign companies will improve the pharmaceutical industry.Conclusion: To sum up, for improving the pharmaceutical industry in the shortest time possible, improvement of technological capabilities andinvestment in R&D should be considered.Keywords: Pharmaceutical industry, Key factors, Generic scheme.

Due to the high risk in development process, the bio-pharmaceutical industry has transformed itself into an open innovation framework in order to overcome economic risk. This study examines the relationship between outbound open innovation and financial performance in bio-pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, this study extends knowledge-based view to link the open innovation performance and licensor’s sustainability. In order to provide empirical evidence, this study uses econometric methodology with several databases including bio-pharmaceutical firms. The analysis shows firm’s desorptive capabilities have a significant effect on financial performance, confirming the application of knowledge capacity framework. The result of the study can suggest the way how the licensors can maintain the sustainability of competitiveness in bio-pharmaceutical industry.

Based on the theory of collaborative innovation and factors affecting enterprise technological innovation, combined with the actual situation of the petroleum enterprises, the performance evaluation model for petroleum enterprises collaborative technological innovation is built by using structural equations, enterprise data of sample enterprises is collected by using questionnaire. With empirical analysis for collaborative technological innovation performance of sample enterprises, factors affecting petroleum enterprise collaborative technological innovation are identified. It will provide the basis for making out measures to enhance petroleum enterprise collaborative technological innovation performance.

Aflatoxins (AFTs) are toxic products of fungal metabolism, associated with serious health consequences and substantial economic losses to agriculture, livestock and poultry sectors, particularly in the developing countries. This review outlines the current information on AFTs in terms of historical background, classification, relative occurrence and co-existence with other mycotoxins in various food commodities. The phenomenon of aflatoxin (AFT) biosynthesis has been elucidated with reference to molecular basis, genetic regulation and factors affecting the AFT production. Moreover, the in vivo disposition kinetics, toxicological action and toxico-pathological consequences of AFTs have also been highlighted. Currently employed strategies for the detection and detoxification of AFTs, biomarkers of exposure assessment, potential economic impact and regulatory considerations regarding the AFTs have been emphasized.

The problem associated with the household behavior on solid waste disposal site in today�s society is complex because of the large quantity and diverse nature of the wastes. Due increase the population, rapid development, global agricultural development has moved rapidly, limitations of financing, emerging limitations of both energy and raw materials and also add to the complexity of any waste management system, large quantities of wastes are being generated in different forms such as solid, liquid and gases. This research explored factors affecting the level of participation in solid waste segregation and recycling of households in Romania, as well as examining current Romania households waste management practices and their knowledge of waste management. This study investigated the solid waste situation and the organization of solid waste management in both urban and rural settings from the perspective of households. Solid waste management is a key component of public services which needs to serve the urban and rural municipalities in an efficient way in order to maintain a decent standard of public health.

Sponsorship of medical conferences by the pharmaceutical industry has led to many ethical issues, especially in resource-poor developing countries. The core issue in these instances is to reduce or avoid conflicts of interests (COIs). COI is a set of circumstances that creates a risk that professional judgment or actions regarding a primary interest will be unduly influenced by secondary interests. Disruption of social trust should also be considered. This deontological approach should be complemented by a consequentialist approach. Towards this, the concept of distal interests (DI) is introduced. DI lies beyond the immediately visible COIs and the consequences of immediate decisions. They are ‘distal’ in time or place: ‘DI in time’ means consequence of the decision in future scenarios, while ‘DI in space’ means those that impinge on other institutions or bodies. In judging the consequences, it is also necessary to consider the reality of the existing relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and organisers of conferences. In more developed countries, these relationships are governed by stricter regulations, adherence to codes of conduct by both parties and stronger institutional oversights. In contrast, developing countries such as Sri Lanka the regulatory environment is lax and the demarcation of interests between the pharmaceutical industry and the medical profession is considerably blurred. Therefore, establishing clear rules of engagement between the stakeholders should be considered as an attempt to clear the muddy waters. The paper proposes a set of guidelines to capture these approaches.

AbstractMicrobiological control is of crucial importance in the pharmaceutical industry regarding the possible bacterial contamination of the environment, water, raw materials and finished products. Molecular identification of bacterial contaminants based on DNA sequencing of the hypervariable 16SrRNA gene has been introduced recently. The aim of this study is to investigate the suitability of gene sequencing using our selection of PCR primers and conditions for rapid and accurate bacterial identification in pharmaceutical industry quality control.DNA was extracted from overnight incubated colonies from 10 bacterial ATCC strains, which are common contaminants in the pharmaceutical industry. A region of bacterial 16SrRNA gene was analyzed by bidirectional DNA sequencing. Bacterial identification based on partial sequencing of the 16SrRNA gene is the appropriate method that could be used in the pharmaceutical industry after adequate validations. We have successfully identified all tested bacteria with more than 99 % similarity to the already published sequences.
