La documentación gráfica aportada por las nuevas tecnologías posee un enorme potencial para la investigación, docencia y difusión, que, en este caso, se ha aplicado a tres retablos del siglo XVIII, con categoría de BIC. Se ha realizado una modelización con Fotogrametría y Láser escáner. Los resultados, interpretados y debatidos por profesionales diversos, proporcionan información útil para el estudio del bien y permiten afrontar actuaciones de conservación y sensibilización patrimonial y plantear acciones destinadas a personas con discapacidad. Se hace un análisis comparativo y se reflexiona sobre la divulgación óptima como recurso turístico a partir de la documentación y análisis efectuados. Graphic documentation provided by new technologies has enormous potential for research, teaching and dissemination. In this study, the technique is applied to three eighteenth-century altarpieces, officially recognized as Cultural Heritage Assets. A modelling was performed using photogrammetry and laser scanning. The results, interpreted and discussed by a range of professionals, provide useful information for studying the altar pieces and a basis for planning conservation, raising awareness and proposing actions aimed at groups with disabilities. The study includes a comparative analysis and considers ways of optimizing use as a tourist resource based on this type of documentation and analysis.

In this paper, a Cultural Heritage survey, performed by employing and integrating different type of acquisition technologies (imagebased and active sensor based) is presented. The aim of the survey is to create a 3D multiscale database, therefore, different restitution scales, from the architectural-urban one to a detail one are taken in consideration. This research is part of a project financed by the Unesco for the study of historical gardens located in Mantua and Sabbioneta, and in particular for the <i>Palazzo Te</i> renaissance gardens in Mantua, which are reported in this paper. First of all, a general survey of the area has been realized by employing the classical aerial photogrammetry in order to provide the actual arboreal and urban furniture conditions of the gardens (1:500 scale). Next, a detailed photogrammetric survey of the Esedra courtyard in <i>Palazzo Te</i> has been performed by using a UAV system. At the end, laser scanning and traditional topography have been used for the terrestrial detailed acquisition of gardens and architectural façades (1:50&ndash;1:20 scale). The aim of this research is to create a suitable graphical documentation support for the study of the structure of the gardens, to analyze how they have been modified over the years and as an effective support for eventual future re-design. Moreover, the research has involved a certain number of botanic and archeological investigations, which have been duly acquired and modeled with image based systems.<br><br> Starting from the acquired datasets with their acquisition scales, a series of comparative analysis have been performed, especially for those areas in which all the systems have been employed. The comparisons have been extracted by analyzing point cloud models obtained by using a topographical network.<br><br> As a result, the multi-range approach efficiency, obtained by employing the actual available technologies have been illustrated in the present work.

The study of microtoponomastics, the examination of sources and the use of new technologies for the creation of geographic information systems capable of gathering various layers of information, allows the extraction of extremely interesting materials for land planning. The case study of the Vallombrosa Forest, probably the best-known forest area in Italy, is indicative of how the exploration of the world of historical archives is important still today. From the evidence that the Vallombrosan Benedictine monks, in the last years of the eighteenth century, had already drawn up a forest regulation plan, we can see the need and urgency to preserve a real scientific and cultural heritage. The creation of a Silvomuseum in Vallombrosa is confirmed as a brilliant intuition and its careful and punctual realization represents the challenge that awaits the current managers of the millenary forest, the cradle of Italian forestry sciences.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The present paper deals with the techniques using the laser scanner survey in the restoration of the statue of Fouara in Setif, Algeria. This statue which is made of marble was realized by Francis de St Vidal in 1899 that represents a nymph which is a part of the fountain, publicly displayed in the center of the city's main plaza. On 18 December 2018, a man defaced the statue, removing the facial features and breasts with a hammer and chisel.</p><p>As a matter of fact, the build cultural heritage in Algeria is in danger from attacks and reaction time deterioration with age. Following the day of the incident, our team has been called to use a previous scanner laser survey of the nymph that was stored in our cultural heritage monument database in order to help the restoration of the missing part of the nymph (the face and the breast. as matter of fact, the original laser scanning survey provided a helpful and accurate details to support the restoration of the nymph.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> In our time, new technologies are progressively more and more approaching the cultural heritage's world. The opportunity to obtain – quickly and in a non-invasive way – virtual models of ancient sites, monuments and objects, using data taken by photo-modelling, digital photogrammetry or laser scanning techniques, offers new possibilities for their proper documentation, monitoring, physical conservation, restoration, archiving and valorization. Moreover, reverse engineering techniques allow a deeper understanding of architectural artefacts and collections by increasing their communication, display and interpretation. By showing a number of experiences related to the rich and famous archaeological heritage of Sicily Island, this paper intends to highlight how the use of new digital equipment and methodologies can be of great benefit for its safeguarding, representation, promotion and enjoyment.</p>

The historical building heritage, present in the most of Italian cities centres, is, as part of the construction sector, a working potential, but unfortunately it requires planning of more complex and problematic interventions. However, policies to support on the existing interventions, together with a growing sensitivity for the recovery of assets, determine the need to implement specific studies and to analyse the specific problems of each site. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the methodology and the results obtained from integrated laser scanning activity in order to have precious architectural information useful not only from the cultural heritage point of view but also to construct more operative and powerful tools, such as BIM (Building Information Modelling) aimed to the management of this cultural heritage. The Papal Basilica and the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi in Italy are, in fact, characterized by unique and complex peculiarities, which require a detailed knowledge of the sites themselves to ensure visitor’s security and safety. For such a project, we have to take in account all the people and personnel normally present in the site, visitors with disabilities and finally the needs for cultural heritage preservation and protection. This aim can be reached using integrated systems and new technologies, such as Internet of Everything (IoE), capable of connecting people, things (smart sensors, devices and actuators; mobile terminals; wearable devices; etc.), data/information/knowledge and processes to reach the desired goals. The IoE system must implement and support an Integrated Multidisciplinary Model for Security and Safety Management (IMMSSM) for the specific context, using a multidisciplinary approach.

Abstract The article discusses a project that features the relocation of the historic Atelier building, built by Krakow-based architect Wandalin Beringer (1839–1923) who was active in the early twentieth century, and the regeneration of a plot belonging to the Congregation of the Resurrection since 1885, which is located at 12 Łobzowska Street in Krakow. The method includes cutting the entire structure off at the foundation and then after reinforcing it with a steel structure transporting it in its entirety to the new location. The project included two possible variants of moving the building in a straight line, either by 21 or 59 metres and evaluates two projects of further regeneration, the adaptive reuse of the building as an exhibition and religious space as well as a proposal for the remodelling of the nearby plot that belongs to the Congregation into a space for meditation and as a recreational park. The aim of these measures is to prevent the demolition of this building, now over a century old, as a result of which a forgotten element of the cultural heritage of the city will be saved. This project was based on the results of analyses of the cultural and historical conditions of Krakow. The block of buildings in which the Atelier in question is located is a very attractive location, near to the very centre of Krakow, adjacent to residential, service and educational buildings. It is directly adjacent to the Monastery Complex of the Congregation of the Resurrection, listed as a heritage building under conservation protection (municipal registry of heritage buildings). In the second half of the twentieth century, the building was used as a workroom by artists such as Xawery Dunikowski and later by the sculptress Teodora Stasiak. The case of the Atelier may provide an inspiration for discussion as well as raising awareness among citizens and city authorities to avoid future situations in which cultural heritage may become forgotten or demolished.

This paper deals with innovative fruition modalities of cultural heritage sites. Based on two ongoing experiments, four pillars are considered, that is, User Localization, Multimodal Interaction, User Understanding and Gamification. A survey of the existing literature regarding one or more issues related to the four pillars is proposed. It aims to put in evidence the exploitation of these contributions to cultural heritage. It is discussed how a cultural site can be enriched, extended and transformed into an intelligent multimodal environment in this perspective. This new augmented environment can focus on the visitor, analyze his activity and behavior, and make his experience more satisfying, fulfilling and unique. After an in-depth overview of the existing technologies and methodologies for the fruition of cultural interest sites, the two experiments are described in detail and the authors’ vision of the future is proposed.

The article touches upon the importance of long-term digital preservation of Armenian cultural heritage through creation of digital repositories using Open-Source Software in Armenian libraries. The research highlights the advantages of Open-Source Software in context of providing free access to digital materials, as well as its high level of functionality in order to empower libraries with new technologies for more efficient organization and dissemination of information.
