The use of English as a Medium of Instruction to teach subjects other than English is widely spread across European higher education institutions. The University of Alcalá has been working on the implementation of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) for decades now. The internationalisation process accounts for the increasing number of studies both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels taught in English. The response of international students has been positive considering the University of Alcalá one of their favourite Spanish destinations. The interaction of local and foreign students evidences the need to raise awareness towards the intercultural competence as part of the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training, so that learners will feel comfortable in a different language and culture and contribute significantly not only to the labour market but also to dialogue and living together. In this article, the authors report on how this is done in one of the compulsory courses of this specific Master’s Degree: Complementary Training in English Studies.

Given the seriousness of the socio-environmental situation we are facing, this study aims to contribute to the involvement of teachers in education for sustainability through the use of non-formal education, particularly the press. The main objectives of the present study are to analyse the use of the press in science education, as well as the design, implementation and evaluation of tools aimed at teachers and trainee researchers in order to encourage and promote attention to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and more specifically SDG 7 (clean and affordable energy for all) in science education. The proposals are carried out using a constructivist methodology in sessions structured in small collaborative groups. The initial results show that attention to the press is still insufficient, but that, nevertheless, the strategies designed contribute to raising awareness of the importance of SDG 7 and to the classroom treatment of the energy issue among the participants in the study who attend a Master’s degree program in secondary education teacher training (specialising in physics and chemistry) and a Master’s degree program in research in specific didactics (specialising in experimental sciences).

In this article, we focus on film making as a part of craft studies and narrative inquiry. Short films were created in a course in the craft teacher master’s degree at the University of Helsinki. The aim of the course was to serve several purposes such as 1) to enable students to become familiar with a new way of deepening conceptual thinking through making, 2) to apply and develop craft skills in working on a selected concept or theme, and 3) to understand the dialogue between conceptual and material artefacts. We explore the opportunities to transmit multisensory experiences via short films. For illustration, we introduce two short films created during the course. Using the deliberative interviewing method, we have broadened the perspective on reflective and analytical level.

The features of the manifestation of evaluative anxiety, constructive and destructive components of responsibility in students of the university of physical culture are considered. The results of the analysis of variance are presented, indicating the influence of the learning stage on the manifestation of evaluative anxiety and responsibility. A correlation analysis of the indicators of students of the 1st, 4th year of bachelor's degree and 2nd year of master's degree of different genders was carried out to determine the relationships between the indicators of anxiety and responsibility.

They are an integral part of life, yet many people avoid the topics of dying, death and mourning. All the more remarkable, then, that the University of Regensburg has been offering a master's degree program since the 2020/21 winter semester that explicitly addresses these existential areas. The course of study "Perimortal Sciences: dying, death and mourning interdisciplinary" is unique in Germany. It is led by Rupert M. Scheule, Professor of Moral Theology, who also helped develop the concept. He related to Petra Hemmelmann, editor of Communicatio Socialis, who decides for this unusual course of study, their reasons for doing so and what the students learn and discuss there.

The introduction of the College's Membership Examination in 1971 created a dilemma for the university departments which had previously provided postgraduate teaching for a Diploma in Psychological Medicine. For it was clear that the MRCPsych would soon become a mandatory qualification for anyone wishing to pursue a psychiatric career, at least in this country, and that consequently there would no longer be a useful role for these diplomas. The universities concerned therefore had to choose between letting their diplomas die, or converting them into something other than a basic clinical qualification. The University of Edinburgh, like the Institute of Psychiatry and one or two other departments, decided to replace its DPM with a master's degree (M.Phil) in psychiatry which would be primarily an academic and research qualification, complementing rather than rivalling the College Membership.
