In this study, we present a new questionnaire, the Science Activities Evaluation Engagement (SAEE) instrument, for the evaluation of the students’ engagement in STEM oriented extra-curricular activities. The questionnaire was administered to about 1000 secondary school students who participated in the activities of the Piano Nazionale Lauree Scientifiche in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Through an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, it was possible to validate a four-factor structure of the instrument: Satisfaction with the followed activities; Utility of the activities; Difficulties in following the activities; Involvement of close people. The obtained factor structure shows a good model fit, with each of the obtained scales showing an excellent reliability. Criterion validity was established through the academic motivation scale. The proposed instrument shows also an adequate convergent validity and a sufficient discriminant validity. Implications of the study for the evaluation of Third Mission activities of the Italian universities are also briefly discussed.

This study explored the factor structure of the Korean version of the Perfectionistic Self-Presentation Scale, originally developed by Hewitt and colleagues in 2003 with three factors (Perfectionistic Self-promotion, Non-display of Imperfection, and Non-disclosure of Imperfection). In Study 1, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the Korean version with 27 items for 151 Korean college students, but the model fit was poor. Subsequently, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted, and the results yielded three factors as found in Hewitt, et al., yet with 20 items rather than the original 27 items. This new version had good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = .88); convergent validity estimate was established with a measure of self-presentation motivation. In Study 2, to support the structural validity of the Korean version, another confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with 203 Korean college students. The model fit was good, but a few amendments were made.

There are many instruments that have been developed by researchers to measure motivation. However, none of the instruments has been specifically designed to measure sorogan motivation on Islamic boarding school students (santri). Therefore, this article was written to discuss the processes of adaptation, testing the validity, and reliability of academic motivation scales to measure sorogan motivation of santri. The authors use Theory of Self Determination (Deci & Ryan, 1995), Academic Motivation Scale (Vallerand et al., 1992), and AMS Bahasa Indonesia (Natalya & Purwanto, 2018) as guidelines in compiling indicators, aspects, and items of Academic Motivation Scale Sorogan Version (AMS-VS). Test adaptation guidelines issued by the International Test Commission (2018) are used in adapting the AMS. The data collected from 102 respondents were analysed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results showed that AMS-VS is a proper and strong measurement to determine the level sorogan motivation of santri.

This study examined the psychometric properties of the parent’s versions of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule–Extended Form (PANAS-X) in a community sample of Portuguese parents. A total of 1100 SDQ and PANAS-X were collected from an online sample of 761 parents, whose ages ranged from 23 to 65 years ( M = 42, SD = 5). Confirmatory factor analyses provided evidence of the internal factor structure of both the SDQ and the PANAS-X and invariance of the factor structure across age and gender groups, with the exception of the SDQ, which failed to provide evidence of invariance between genders. Internal reliability and discriminant validity were confirmed for both measures, although convergent validity was only confirmed for the PANAS-X. Concurrent validity was also confirmed by comparing the results from the SDQ dimensions and the PANAS-X broad dimensions subscales.

Purpose: The primary aim of this study was to translate the Sibling Bullying Questionnaire (SBQ) into Turkish and validate it. A secondary aim was to estimate the prevalence of sibling bullying in Turkish adolescents. Methods: The SBQ was forward and backwards translated by a team of English-Turkish bilinguals. Following this, self-report data were collected from Turkish adolescents (N=301) aged 10 to 18 years old (mean age=14.25 years, SD=2.46). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to confirm the factor structure of the newly translated Turkish SBQ (T-SBQ). Descriptive analyses were then conducted to report the characteristics of the sample and the prevalence of sibling bullying. Results: CFA confirmed the original two-factor structure of the T-SBQ indicating that a first-order correlated two-factor (victimisation and perpetration) model show the best model fit: x2=160.33 (p <.001), df=61, RMSEA=.07, CFI=.95 and TLI=.93. The T-SBQ also showed satisfactory levels of internal consistency in victimisation (α=.84) and perpetration (α=.83) subscales with excellent reliability for the overall test scale (α=.90). The convergent validity of the scale was also high as demonstrated by the inter-scale correlation coefficients between the T-SBQ and Revised Sibling Bullying Questionnaire (α=.79). In terms of sibling bullying prevalence, approximately half of the adolescents (51%) reported having been involved in some form of sibling bullying in the preceding six months, either as pure-victim (18%), pure-bully (3%) or bully-victim (30%).Conclusions: The T-SBQ is valid and reliable in measure sibling bullying in Turkish adolescents and sibling bullying is prevalent in the lives of Turkish adolescents.Keywords. The current study aimed to translate Trust in Close Relationship Scale in Urdu for married couples in Pakistan and to establish its psychometric properties. The forward and backward translation method was used for the translation of the scale followed by the try-out phase.  After determining the cross language validation, in order to confirm the factor structure of the scale, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was run.  The sample comprised of 250 participants of different age groups (M = 39.7, SD = 10.1). The results of CFA supported the original three-factor structure of the scale (viz., Avoidance, Benevolence and Retaliation) by providing a good model fit to the data with values of X2 = 229.61 (df = 110, p < .001), CFI =.91, GFI = .91, and RMSEA = .06. Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was α= .87. The convergent validity of the scale was determined on a sample of 100 participants by finding its correlation with Trust Scale (r = .72, p < .001). The results support that the scale has promising.

Procrastination is a deleterious and increasingly pervasive phenomenon within the higher-academic domain, and the progressive refinement of its measurement tools proves vital to shed light and undertake this behavior. Thus, the present study examines renewed psychometric quality features of the Tuckman Procrastination Scale within an Argentinian sample. The sample was composed of 923 undergraduates from Buenos Aires City and its environs (80.7% female; 18.7% male; 0.5% non-binary; Mage = 26.60; SDage = 8.25). The Cordoban-Argentinian adaptation of the Tuckman Procrastination Scale was employed. Content validity analysis of the scale’s items was carried out upon consideration of expert judgments. Face validity of the instrument was analyzed via a pilot study with a subsample of undergraduates. Subsequently, a confirmatory factor analysis of the Tuckman Procrastination Scale structure was conducted, and the internal consistency of the resulting factor was examined. Finally, correlations with the Academic Motivation Scale were analyzed to provide evidence of convergent validity. Results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis supported an adequate fit of the Tuckman Procrastination Scale’s structure in its Cordoban-version 15 items, while internal consistency was acceptable-to-excellent. Finally, convergent validity evidence mostly exhibited positive associations between Procrastination and both Amotivation and less self-determined motivational subscales of the Academic Motivation Scale, while negative associations were observed with regards to Intrinsic Motivation subscales.

Abstract. The Therapist Adherence Measure (TAM-R) is a central assessment within the quality-assurance system of Multisystemic Therapy (MST). Studies into the validity and reliability of the TAM in the US have found varying numbers of latent factors. The current study aimed to reexamine its factor structure using two independent samples of families participating in MST in the Netherlands. The factor structure was explored using an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) in Sample 1 ( N = 580). This resulted in a two-factor solution. The factors were labeled “therapist adherence” and “client–therapist alliance.” Four cross-loading items were dropped. Reliability of the resulting factors was good. This two-factor model showed good model fit in a subsequent Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in Sample 2 ( N = 723). The current finding of an alliance component corroborates previous studies and fits with the focus of the MST treatment model on creating engagement.

Abstract. We developed a new instrument designed to measure fear of intimacy in romantic relationships. We suggest assessing fear of intimacy through two dimensions: self-revelation and dependence. The Fear of Intimacy Components Questionnaire (FICQ) was validated across three studies in which a 10-item solution systematically emerged. Consistently with a two component perspective, a two-factor solution fitted data the best: fear of losing the self (FLS) and fear of losing the other (FLO). Qualitative analyses verified content validity. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses tested the factor structure. Multigroup analyses supported the structural invariance across gender, age, and relationship status. Both factors showed adequate discriminant validity and internal consistency, and good 3-week period test-retest reliability. Associations between the FICQ and insecure attachment orientations demonstrated convergent validity. The association between the FICQ and relationship satisfaction above and beyond a preexisting measure offered criterion validity. By going beyond traditional self-revelation-focused conception of fear of intimacy, that is, by proposing a bi-dimensional structure to fear of intimacy, we believe that this new measure will contribute to future research on fear of intimacy.

The current study was undertaken in order to construct a psychometrically sound measure of news addiction for Pakistani people. The research comprised of three studies. The first study dealt with the development of News Addiction Scale (NAS) for Pakistani people. The items of the scale were empirically determined for content validation and an exploratory factor analysis was undertaken on a purposive sample of 247 individuals (men = 183, women = 64; with a mean age of 40.1 years, SD = 15.2 years). Thirty items were subjected to Principal Axis Factoring and the resulting scree plot and Eigenvalues evidenced a single factor solution with 19 items, which accounted for 53.96% of the variance. In the second study, a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out on a sample of 240 participants and the results revealed an excellent model fit to the data, which validated the unidimensional structure of the scale. Study III of the present research was conducted on a purposive sample of 100 individuals and it provided a convincing evidence of convergent validity of the scale as significant positive correlation was observed between news addiction and behavioral activation and concurrent validity as individuals with more duration of exposure had significantly higher mean score on the NAS. Across the two studies, the Cronbach alpha of the scale remained ≥ .90. These pieces of evidence suggested that NAS would be a promising indigenous measure of news addiction.

The first purpose of this study was to define the construct of occupational identity and develop the scale of occupational identity, the second purpose of this study was to examine the factor structure of occupational identity using exploratory common factor analysis and test the discriminant validity of occupational identity with workplace satisfaction, and third purpose of this study was to test the model of antecedents and outcome variables of occupational identity using confirmatory factor analysis. For fulfilling these purposes, three studies were conducted. Data were gathered from 390 workers in study 1, 505 workers in study 2, 1,115 workers in study 3. As a result, the three-factor structure of occupational identity was stably replicated, although the sample was changed. The occupational identity had discriminant validity with workplace satisfaction. Except for person-occupation fit(a subfactor of occupational identity) had a high correlation with general, occupational satisfaction(a subfactor of workplace satisfaction), other subfactors of occupational identity generally had low correlations with other subfactors of workplace satisfaction. It was found that the occupational identity was derived from occupational reputation, dedication to the occupation, occupational pride, and mission to the occupation. And the occupational identity resulted in the purpose of the worker’s life and intention to continue the worker’s occupation. Based on these results, We made discussions about implications, limitations, and future research tasks.
