In this article, I discuss the representation of people with disabilities as an ethical and political act, including the intimate demand of face-to-face encountering with another person and a picture in an artwork. The article explores the project, Good afternoon Mr. Holbein, by Pekka Elomaa, through two different image interpretations, which together offer an alternative understanding to the dominant discourse on image analysis. The politics of representation of people with disabilities is troubled together with Levinasian philosophy and disability studies in art education.

Despite how the fields of mobility and disability studies have vastly contributed to our understanding of our lifeworld, the two, however, share asymmetric acknowledgement of each other. Mobility recurs as an aspiration for those with a disability yet disability tends to be ignored or inadequately dealt with in mobility studies. This article seeks to achieve two main objectives: first, to discuss how and what the journal has achieved over the years; and, second, to highlight that the denial of mobility is a negation of what it means to be human. Overall, the article seeks to deploy a critical intervention required for mobility studies to return the gesture to disability studies in equal magnitude. By situating the discussion within the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, this article argues that at the interface of mobility and disability lies a politics of possibility for people with disabilities in their struggles for equal access and full citizenship.

While clothing is produced and consumed rapidly, it strives to create appropriate forms and to create appropriate identities by giving correct messages; therefore, it is one of the most important fields requiring art and design education. The fashion design student, who forms the infrastructure with basic art education and figure drawing, not only transfers the imagination to the two-dimensional plane with the fashion drawing lesson but also transfers it to the two-dimensional plane; at the same time, he takes art and design education, which is aesthetic education, and feeds his visual vision and mind. In this research, the Fashion Drawing Lesson has been examined in detail in terms of determining the place, position, importance, processing and content of the Fashion Drawing Lesson in the official fashion design curriculum and a comprehensive literature search has been conducted; then the matter has been tried to be examined thanks to a link has been established between education, fashion, art and design disciplines. The course syllabus in Turkey and some of fashion design course programs in the world were examined; the experts providing fashion formal education and the students who received fashion formal education were interviewed face-to-face to obtain information first-hand. First of all, the study started by determining the fashion design undergraduate programs in the OSYM (Assessment Selection and Placement Center) placement guide and examining the course hours, course times and course contents of the fashion formal courses in these programs. The researcher visited the designated universities for the purpose of on-site observation and interview, and conducted semi-structured interview questions and face-to-face interviews with experts and students and recorded them. The transcribed interviews were analyzed using content analysis method and the findings were interpreted within the framework of the research questions. The findings were interpreted and discussed, and after the results were written, suggestions about the study were included. As a result, it has been determined that the admission of students to the fashion design program should be made with the combination of central examination system and talent exam suitable for fashion design education. It was seen that the time granted for the program was not sufficient in mean of implementation of the fashion drawing lessons properly in the fashion design education programs. The importance of professional competence lies in the effective application of job-oriented knowledge and skills which guarantee one’s successful adaptation to the work. This study analyzes the perception of the importance of physical activity and sports (PAS) professionals’ competence in working with individuals with disabilities in Spain. As a descriptive quantitative study, face-to-face interviews were conducted through a survey to extract the data. The sample consisted of 214 PAS professionals working with people with disabilities. According to the results, the analyzed constituents of professional competence are important for adequate performance (>65%), with the exception of competences of leadership and use of new technologies (<50%). It was also found that the perceived importance of each element of professional competence varies according to age, experience and training. Based on the obtained results, the degree of importance of each constituent of professional competence and its implication for the access of people with disabilities to high-quality physical activity and sports services was determined.

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: ">Critical film analysis in the context of disability studies is introduced, and implications of disability portrayals in film are discussed. Two films often used in middle school classrooms, <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Simon Birch</em> and <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">The Mighty,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span></em>are introduced and briefly summarized. The films are critiqued<em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"> </em>using Norden’s conceptualizations of stereotypic roles for characters with disabilities including the "sweet innocent" and "comic misadventurer." Finally, the importance of critical screening is outlined and ways that teachers can use these films in ways that are respectful of people with disabilities based on criteria developed by Safran (2000) are offered. </span></p>

<p>L'Arche, an international federation of communities for adults with intellectual disabilities, has been critiqued by disability studies scholars throughout its fifty-year history due to its religiosity, its apparent lack of a rigorous stance on the need to address policy concerning people with disabilities, its philosophy concerning disability's meanings, and features of its language and discourse.  I address these concerns as someone who is both an academic and a long-term member of a L'Arche community. While there is historically limited and uneasy interaction between these two communities, I suggest there is potential for mutual and worthwhile exchange from theoretical and practical perspectives.</p>

Accessible tourism is an under-researched area in Hungary. Based on the results of a questionnaire survey, the aim of the present study is to present several specific features of the travel demand of people with disabilities, the foremost focus being the examination of the most popular tourism products in the demand of people with disabilities. 268 Hungarians responded to the survey in online and face-to-face contexts. In addition to the Hungarian survey, the article also covers small-sample research results from four other countries (Germany, Italy, Spain and Croatia). The results show that members of the target group reject segregation solutions during their travels, and, as opposed to integration, clearly demand inclusion. Their travel frequency is above average of the entire population, with interests as diverse as those without disabilities. The issue of accessible tourism affects 10% of the European population, and thus, besides the significance of the issue from a social and societal point of view, this segment cannot be neglected in terms of its market value either. Understanding the expectations of stakeholders and their specific consumer habits is an essential requirement in the development of appropriate tourism supply and in ensuring equal access to services.

BACKGROUND Home Internet of Things (IoT) services and devices have the potential to aid older adults and people with disabilities in their living environments. IoT services and devices can also aid caregivers and health care providers in conveniently providing care to those in need. However, real-world data on the IoT needs of vulnerable people are lacking. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study is to conduct a face-to-face survey on the demand for IoT services among older people and people with disabilities, their caregivers, and health care providers in a real-world setting and to see if there are any differences in the aspects of need. METHODS We conducted a face-to-face survey with 500 participants between January 2019 and March 2019. A total of 300 vulnerable people (200 older adults aged ≥65 years and 100 physically disabled people aged 30-64 years) were randomly sampled from either a population-based, prospective cohort study of aging—the Aging Study of Pyeongchang Rural Area (ASPRA)—or from the outpatient clinics at the Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. Simultaneously, their caregivers (n=150) and health care providers (n=50) participated in the survey. Detailed socioeconomic status, digital literacy, health and physical function, and home IoT service needs were determined. Among all commercially available IoT services, 27 services were classified into five categories: emergency and security, safety, health care, convenience (information), and convenience (operation). The weighted-ranking method was used to rank the IoT needs in different groups. RESULTS There were discrepancies in the demand of IoT services among the vulnerable groups, their caregivers, and health care providers. The home IoT service category that was required the most by the vulnerable groups and their caregivers was emergency and security. However, health care providers indicated that the safety category was most needed by the older adults and disabled people. Home IoT service requirements differed according to the different types of disabilities among the vulnerable groups. Participants with fewer disabilities were more willing to use IoT services than those with more disabilities. CONCLUSIONS Our survey study shows that there were discrepancies in the demand of IoT services among the vulnerable groups, their caregivers, and health care providers. IoT service requirements differed according to the various types of disabilities. Home IoT technology should be established by combining patients’ priorities and individualized functional assessments among vulnerable people. Disability studies provoke a clear and consistently thought provoking portrayal of differently abled people. Nowadays, people with disability face many problems in their day-to-day life. All people have their own dreams to achieve something special in this world. Likewise, the people with disabilities also have some dreams. The novel,The Incomplete by VaibhavKolhe deals with the difficulties and the challenges undergone by the protagonist in his life. The protagonist narrates several incidents from his childhood to his adolescence. He faces a lot of struggles in his life because of his physical disability. Even in his love, he fails because of expressing his inner emotions. This novel mainly depicts the fact that how the protagonist accepts his disability as a challenge and how he overcomes his weakness. The present paper focuses on the sufferings and reactions of a differently abled man and how he adapts to the environment and the people in the substandard society.

This article discusses recent academic and theoretical approaches to disability in Italy, situating them in relation to Anglo-American disability studies as well as within the Italian academic context, and sketches out the contours of an emergent Italian disability studies. The discussion centres on three terms that have emerged recently in Italy:superabilità(implying both ‘ability to overcome’ and ‘exceptional ability’);diversabilità(being ‘differently abled’); andtransabilità(the desire for, or identification with, a disabled body by a non-disabled subject). The article considers the role of narrative in each of these categories, as well as the way that each deals with the question of limits. While discourses in each category construct or confirm a strong disabled identity, the article argues thattransabilitàmight also be understood as the transcendence of identity on the basis of ability. This alternative understanding puts pressure on the question of identity itself and challenges the very need for narrative (re)construction.
