Many studies in the past have established the positive association of self-efficacy to academic motivation and achievement. To substantively improve the understanding of learner’s self-efficacy, education researchers must need to explore how it is structured. This study proposed a structural model of Physics self-efficacy (PSE) and outlined its relationshipswith conceptions of learning Physics (CLP) and approachesto learning Physics (ALP) through structural equation modeling. Three questionnaires from Tsai (2008) were adapted for a field survey that was carried out to 317 fourth-year students randomly chosen among seven national high schools in the east district of the division of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines to measure the scales on PSE, CLP and ALP. Correlation and path analyses showed that CLP has significant relationship with ALP. Consequently, the ALP also has significant relationshipto PSE. Specifically, both the students’ low-level and high-level conceptions of learning physics exerted positive influence to surface and deep motives and strategies in their approaches in learning the subject. Further, the students’ ALP inferred direct contribution to PSE than the CLP. These results provide valuable information in this area to effusively understand the nature and process of learning physics pertinent to other metacognitive variables. Keywords - Science education, learning conception, learning approaches, physicslearning, self-efficacy, structural equation modelling, Philippines

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of service quality perception on spectators’ satisfaction and behavioral intentions in the Pernambuco Professional Football Championship of 2017 - Brazil. Data were collected on match days, using an adapted questionnaire, consisting of four variables. The sample was composed of spectators at the competition, divided into two moments (1st. n = 386 / 2nd. n = 620). The data were analyzed through two-step structural equation modeling in AMOS 24. After the refinement of the model, the results of the structural model [χ² (314) = 762.849 (p <.001) χ² / df = 2.42; GFI = .92; CFI = .95; RMSEA = .05] indicated that the players' performance positively influenced both satisfaction (β = .76, p <.001) and behavioral intentions (β = .33, p <.001). In turn, the crowd experience had a positive influence only on the spectators’ behavioral intentions (β = .38, p <.001). It is concluded that provision of service quality, positively evaluated by the spectators, especially in relation to the aspects of the game/players, is a way for the club to satisfy them and generate positive behavioral intentions.

Guided by self-determination theory (SDT), this study aims to advance the theoretical understanding of backpacker personal development (BPD) by examining its relationships with two important social-psychological constructs, that is, generalized self-efficacy (GSE) and self-esteem (SE). Using two samples from different cultural groups (Chinese backpackers, n=230; Western backpackers, n=242) and applying the partial least squares structural equation modeling, the study found that among Chinese backpackers, skill development positively influenced GSE while worldview changes negatively influenced SE. For Western backpackers, capability development and emotional adjustment positively influenced their GSE. The positive effects of GSE on SE were confirmed in both samples. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Abstract Background This study investigated the relevance of the two-factor R-SPQ-2F questionnaire designed by Biggs et al for exploring the learning approaches of medical students in Qatar and identify whether factors like gender, year level, and educational attainment influence student learning. Methods The sample consisted of 108 medical students (44% male, 56% female) from all four years of medical school at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q). Participants completed the 20-item R-SPQ-2F questionnaire to measure their learning approaches through a two-factor structural model that contrasts deep and surface learning. Participants also completed a survey collecting demographic information. Results Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in deep learning approaches across year levels for both males and females. Additionally, educational attainment played a significant role in learning approach preference. Conclusions Based on structural equation modeling, this cross-verification study supports the two-factor R-SPQ-2F instrument and offers additional evidence for its robustness and application to medical education. These findings may help educational and program leaders in Qatar better understand medical students’ learning approaches to enhance their pedagogical practices.

The number of business people who started from a family business in Indonesia were quite large. But the number of companies that prepare successors to continue and develop the family business could be counted on fingers. This study aimed to determined the effect of Perceived Parental Reward, Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy, which was moderated by Family Business Involvement on Entrepreneurial Intention. This study used quantitative research by distribute 200 questionnaires and tested using PLS Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to evaluate the reliability and validity of measurement models and structural models. The results showed that there was a positive influence between the Perceived Parental Reward, Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy, which was moderated by Family Business Involvement on Entrepreneurial Intention. From these results it was hoped that the campus could form a supportive environment for the development of family businesses. It did not always form the mindset to form a new business so that a growing family business was not abandoned or no longer want to build a family business

To explore the mechanisms that foster rational, communicative, and actionable citizenship, this research proposes a mediation as well as moderation research framework that links deliberative thinking, political self-efficacy, social capital, and civic participation. Data from 865 Taiwanese university students are analyzed with structural equation modeling, showing a positive association of deliberative thinking to political self-efficacy and civic participation, as well as a positive association between them. Moreover, the association between deliberative thinking and civic participation is significantly and positively mediated by political self-efficacy. When background factors are controlled, only social capital is identified to be moderating any associations between variables in this study. The established association between deliberative thinking and political self-efficacy and that between deliberative thinking and the non-electoral, as well as community-based dimensions of civic participation, are significantly weaker among those possessing less social capital, while such differences are not significant in the case of gender and household income. Based on these findings, the relative roles of deliberative thinking, political self-efficacy, and social capital in promoting effective deliberative democracy will be discussed.

Technological innovations are altering the lives of the poor, rich, nation‘s economics, and education globally. Hence, Ghana‘s commitment to formulate the ICT for Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) Policy in 2003 to achieve the transformative vision of competing favorably in the knowledge economy in addition to the introduction of ICT- related subjects in the Ghanaian schools to develop the human resources for indigenous knowledge development is laudable. However, instructional technologists feared that the Ghanaian ICT curriculum from basic to tertiary level might be too generic and lacking curriculum-specific integration literacy, thereby likely to widen the digital divide. To support Ghana‘s vision for ICT integration into higher education lessons, the current study sought to predict university graduates‘ integration literacy from cognitive constructs using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The measurements and structural model fit indices were tested with SmartPLS Version 3. The results showed that students‘‘goal-setting and need for achievement significantly predicted over 15% (R2 = .155) of ICT integrate skills. However, self-efficacy was not an important predictor (t = 1.74, p > .05) for students ICT integration literacy in the Ghanaian setting. We concluded that whilst graduates‘goal-setting and need for achievement traits motivate them to acquire technology skills in the Ghanaian public universities, certainly, 85% of latent variables such as pedagogy, lecturers‘ computer integration competencies, and access remain unaccounted for per our structural model. The study recommends that career counsellors could design cognitive interventions to improve students‘ self-efficacy traits and educational administrators should encourage formative assessment by ICT instructors in their schools to enhance skills developments.

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the partial mediating effect of ego identity status and personality traits on general self-efficacy levels of physical education and sports teacher candidates. To do that, a model showing possible relationships between these variables was established and this model was tested by using structural equation modeling. The sample of the study consisted of 578 students in the freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior years in the Physical Education Sports Teaching Departments of universities Erciyes, Mehmet Akif, Dumlupinar, and Ahi Evran. The Socio-Demographic Information Form created by the researchers, General Self-Efficacy Scale adapted to Turkish by Aypay (2010), Ego Identity Status Scale adapted by Oskay (1998), and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire adapted to Turkish by Karancı et al. (2007) were used as the data collection tools. SPSS 22 program and Structural Equation Modeling/AMOS/Path Diagram program were used for data analysis. Firstly, the measurement models were tested and the proposed measurement model proved to be able to use to test the structural model. The structural model proposed based on the validated measurement models were then tested and verified. The fit indices of the model established in the study were found to be good and the coefficients obtained were found to be statistically significant. According to the results obtained about the structural model, it was found that there was a significant relationship between the general self-efficacy with ego identity status and personality traits, and that the ego identity status and personality traits predict the general self-efficacy in an advanced level. As a result, it is thought that the general self-efficacy levels of the students will increase with the positive development of ego identity status and personality traits, and this increase will enable the students to increase their academic achievement and self-confidence, as well as will make them more active in the society.

Abstract. The study examined the psychometric properties of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO PI-R, UK edition) in a large European sample of civil airline pilots. The NEO PI-R is a comprehensive and robust measure of personality that has been validated across cultures and contexts. Furthermore, the personality profile of the pilot sample was examined and compared to a normative sample representing the UK working population. Data from 591 pilots (95.1% male) were collected. Analyses include the internal reliability and factorial validity (precisely, Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling) to examine the measurement equivalence of the NEO PI-R with reference to UK norms ( N = 1,301). Internal reliability estimates of the NEO PI-R scores were good at the domain level, but generally weak at the facet level. The structural model in the pilot sample was congruent with the general working population sample. Furthermore, there was convincing evidence for a distinct personality profile of civil pilots, although the stability of this profile will require further validation. The NEO PI-R’s validity in the assessment of general personality in civil airline pilots is discussed, along with implications of the results for the utility of personality assessment in civil aviation contexts.

This study aims to investigate the impact of parental career behaviors on undergraduate student’s career exploration and the mediating role of career self-efficacy. In the literature it is suggested that some social and individual factors facilitate students’ career exploration. Therefore, parental career behaviors and career self-efficacy is considered as predictors of student’s career exploration attitudes within the scope of the study. In this respect, data which are collected from 405 undergraduate students having an education on tourism and hotel management field by the survey method are analyzed by using the structural equation modeling. The results of the study indicate that parental career behaviors which are addressed support; interference and lack of engagement have a significant effect on student’s career exploration behaviors such as intended-systematic exploration, environment exploration and self-exploration. In addition, it has been found that one of the dimensions of parental career behaviors addressed as a lack of engagement has a significant effect on career self-efficacy levels of students. However, research results indicate that student’s career self-efficacy has a significant effect on only the self-exploration dimension. On the other hand, career self-efficacy has a partial mediating role between lack of engagement attitudes of parents and career exploration behaviors of students.
