Abelmoschus esculentus, a plant cultivated in tropical and temperate regions throughout the world, is highly appreciated for its various uses. Its culture encounters difficulties, particularly in Cameroon, due to soil infertility. In order to overcome this difficulty, the use of biological fertilizers in order to regenerate agricultural soils for more production is suggested. Three types of formulations were prepared after in vitro compatibilities tests, T1 (B. amyloliquefaciens and T. harzianum); T2 (B. velezensis and B. amyloliquefaciens) and T3 (B. velezensis and T. harzianum) with the aim of improving soil physicochemical; agromorphological and nutritional profile of okra. The plants were cultivated in 4.5 m² plots, arranged in complete randomized blocks design. ANOVA revealed significant differences between T1treatment and the other treatments and with the T0 control in plant height with the growth rate of 1.144cm/day, fruit length (11.53±0.49cm) and the average weight of fruits per treatment (1868.00±279.45g) at the significance level of P<0.05 (Tukey test). The productivity of treatment T1 per hectare (16.604±2.48t/ha) was highly significant compared to the other treatments and the control (8.53±1.49t/ha). Parameters such as disease resistance, leaf area and number of leaves were not significant between treatments but with the control. The values obtained with T1 treatment were high compared to the others. Regarding nutritional properties, the Na, K, Mg, Cu, Fe, Zn, carbohydrates and proteins contents were significantly increased compared to the control with contents values above the same okra variety. These different results may suggest the use of bioformulation with B. amyloliquefaciens and T. harzianum in order to improve soil fertility and to produce a sufficient quantity and quality of biofortified okra.

Background: Cell sheet technology has magnified as an important transplantation skill. Mouse adipose derived stem cells (mADSCs) can secrete various growth factors, which promote the repair of damaged cardiomyocyte and protecting cells from death. In addition, autologous cell source to easily obtain from patients are promising candidates for cell therapy in cardiovascular field. Methods: mADSCs were confirmed stem cell properties and secreted cytokines were evaluated in vitro. Eighteen acute myocardial infarction (AMI) rats were divide into 3 group; sham (n=6), suspended mADSCs (n=6), and mADSCs sheet (n=6) groups. In the mADSCs sheet group, 60х106 cells were cultured for 2 days onto temperature-responsive polymers and the sheets were then transplanted over the infarct region. In additional, the sheet was made of carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester (CFDA) -labelled mADSCs to confirmed cell survival. Engraftment and differentiation were blindly assessed after 28 days. Results: The mADSCs expressed Sca-1+ and represented multi-differentiation potential. Interestingly, EGF and IGF levels significantly increased in the mADSCs sheet. Significant improvements in ejection fraction and fraction shortening value were observed in the mADSCs sheet and suspended mADSCs groups compared with the sham group at 14 and 28 days. But, it was not higher significance level in the mADSCs sheet group than in the suspended mADSCs group. Engraftment range and fibrosis area of infarct region were significantly higher in the mADSCs sheet group compared to the other two groups at 4, 14 and 28 days. In significant expressed cytokines (bFGF, IL-1a, IL-1ra, CT-1, EGF, TGFb1, IGF-1, IGF-2 and MCP-1) were observed in the mADSCs sheet group compared with the other 2 groups at 28 days after transplantation. In addition, in the mADSCs sheet was confirmed endothelial differentiation by Von Willebrand factor (vWF) at 4, 14 and 28 days. Conclusions: Transplantation of mADSCs sheet into rat infarcted myocardium increased engraftment and survival of transplanted cells. The mADSCs sheet is very useful for the study of stem cell proliferation and differentiation as well as for cell therapy in cardiovascular field.

The accuracy of the intraoral digital impression systems has been previously reported to refer to the quality of the obtained data from the related scanning procedures, irrespective of the quality of the clinical outcomes and the estimated costs. Trueness and precision have been frequently found among studies in the literature as two terms describing the accuracy of the intraoral digital impression systems. Various digital impression modalities have been proposed among studies in the literature and were investigated for estimation of their accuracy. The paper aims to review and discuss the most common literature regarding the current common systems and their accuracy among the different studies in the literature. According to the results, Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) systems appear to have the highest estimated rates of trueness and precision as compared to the other modalities while the iTero system appears to have the lowest estimated rates. However, some studies have reported contradicting results and the current evidence is mainly based on findings from in vitro investigations. Accordingly, further studies might be needed for further validation of the current evidence and strengthening the quality of the future potential implications for clinicians.

SummaryThis study examined the effects of meiosis inhibition during bovine oocyte transportation on developmental competence and quality of produced embryos. The transportation medium was supplemented with: 100 μM butyrolactone I (BL), 500 μM IBMX + 100 μM forskolin (mSPOM), 100 μM milrinone (MR) or follicular fluid (bFF), and was carried out in a portable incubator for 6 h. Next, oocytes were in vitro matured (IVM) for 18 h, without the meiotic inhibitors, with the exception of mSPOM group, in which was added 20 μM cilostamide. The three control groups were IVM with 10% fetal calf serum (FCS) (Control Lab FCS) or 0.6% bovine serum albumin (BSA) (Control Lab BSA) in a CO2 in air incubator or in the portable incubator with 0.6% BSA (Control Transp BSA). Higher cleavage rates (P < 0.05) were obtained in the Control Lab FCS group (84.5 ± 5.3%) compared with the other groups (59.6 ± 3.4% to 70.9 ± 2.3%). Embryonic development was higher (P < 0.05) in the Control Lab FCS group (39.8 ± 4.7%) than in the Control Transp BSA (22.7 ± 3.4%) and MR (21.6 ± 2.3%) groups. However, they were similar (P > 0.05) to the other groups (23.6 ± 3.3% to 28.8 ± 2.7%). The total number of blastomeres was higher (P < 0.05) in the Control Lab FCS group (85.2 ± 5.6) than in Control Lab BSA (53.6 ± 2.9), Control Transp BSA (55.5 ± 4.4), BL (58.2 ± 3.0), mSPOM (57.9 ± 4.9) and MR (59.2 ± 3.9), but all these treatments did not differ (P > 0.05) from bFF (67.7 ± 4.2). No differences (P > 0.05) were found in apoptosis by the activity of caspases (139.0 ± 3.2 to 152.4 ± 6.5, expressed in fluorescence intensity) as well as the percentage of TUNEL-positive cells (12.3 ± 2.0% to 15.7 ± 1.7%). In conclusion, the transportation of oocytes over 6 h with BL, mSPOM or bFF enabled the acquisition of developmental competence at similar rates to the Control Lab FCS group.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate, in vitro, the quality of calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] paste filling (Ultracal, Ultradent) associated or not with Ca(OH)2-containing gutta-percha points (Calcium Hydroxide Plus PointsTM, Roeko) in curved root canals. MATERIAL AND METHODS: One hundred and twenty roots of extracted human teeth, randomly divided into three curvature ranges (mild - 0 to 14º; moderate - 15º to 29º; severe - >30º) were used. After chemomechanical preparation, the roots were assigned to 4 groups (n=30), according to the technique of intracanal dressing placement: group 1 - Ca(OH)2 paste was applied with a lentulo spiral; group 2 - Ca(OH)2 paste was applied with a lentulo spiral and a Ca(OH)2 point was inserted into the canal; group 3 - Ca(OH)2 paste was applied with a NavitipTM tip (supplied with Ultracal system); group 4 - Ca(OH)2 paste was applied with a NavitipTM tip and a Ca(OH)2 point was inserted into the canal. The roots were cleared and the quality of apical third filling was assessed by a calibrated experienced examiner. The specimens were examined under stereomicroscopy and scored 1 to 4 (i.e., from inadequate to complete root canal filling). The results were analyzed statistically by ANOVA and Duncan's post hoc test at 5% significance level. RESULTS: There were no statistically significant differences (p>0.05) among the curvature degrees in groups 1, 3 and 4. Severely curved roots in group 2 presented bordering significance (p=0.05). The groups that associated the use of Ca(OH)2 paste and points (2 and 4) showed better apical filling than the other groups, but this difference was statistically significant (p<0.001) only for roots with severe curvature. CONCLUSION: According to the results of this study, the curvature degree did not influence the quality of filling. The techniques that used Ca(OH)2-containing gutta-percha points yielded better filling of the apical third in roots with severe curvature.

This study was carried out during 2002 and 2003 seasons in sandy soils at three different major strawberry production areas i.e. Ismailia (East Delta), Qaluobia (Middle Delta), and Nobaria (West Delta) to compare runner formation and fresh transplant production under four different nursery planting dates i.e. 1, 15, and 30 Apr. and 15 May. Camarosa cultivar was used. Data were recorded on number of main runners, number of fresh transplants dug in September, crown diameter, number of roots, root length, number of leaves, and carbohydrates content in roots and crowns of transplant. Results indicate that, there were significant increases in number of main runners, number of fresh transplants, number of roots, root length, and total carbohydrates in roots and crowns in Ismailia (East Delta) location as compared with other tested locations. On the other hand, Nobaria location showed the lowest value for the above mentioned studied characters. As for nursery planting date, planting nursery mother plants on 1 or 15 Apr. resulted in significant increments in number of runners and marketable fresh transplants as well as number and length of roots and total carbohydrates in roots and crown. However, plants planted in mid May gave the highest values of crown diameter. The study concluded that early establishment of strawberry nursery (first or mid April) is preferable to increase number and quality of fresh transplants. Moreover, Ismailia area (East Delta) was the best for transplant production as compared with the other tested locations. These results may be due to its microclimate condition.

Kata Kunci: Benzylaminopurine (BAP), Thidiazuron (TDZ), Stroberi, Kultur Jaringan AbstractStolon is used for conventional propagation of strawberry, but it is less effective and the quality of the seeds is not good due to the accumulation of disease. In vitro multiplication becomes a solution for the supply of quality seeds in a fast time. The addition of growth regulator cytokinin, such as Benzylaminopurine (BAP) or Thidiazuron (TDZ) can produced the large number of shoot. The objective of this study was to obtain the best type and concentration of cytokinin in the multiplication of strawberry ‘Tochiotome’. The study was conducted at the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Seed Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven treatments and five replications, that were: Control (without cytokinin); BAP (0.25 ppm; 0.50 ppm; 0.75 ppm), and TDZ (0.25 ppm; 0.50 ppm; 0.75 ppm). The results indicated that addition of cytokinin did not affected increasing number of shoots and fresh weightof plantlets. Control media can produce larger number of roots than those containing PGRs, this might be due to the endogenous auxin concentrations found in strawberry plants. Also, cytokinin inhibited root formations process. Plants treated with BAP 0.50 ppm increased for the number of leaves and produced runners in vitro. This study showed application of BAP with 0.50 ppm increased and accelerated the production of strawberry ‘Tochiotome’ seedlings. Keywords: Benzylaminopurine (BAP), Thidiazuron (TDZ), Strawberry, Tissue Culture

Purpose: To report the findings of an in vitro experiment to evaluate the quality of needle fenestrations dilated by different size balloons in various stent-grafts and to investigate the differences between gradual and rapid dilation. Materials and Methods: Fenestrations were made using an 18-G needle in 5 different polyester or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) stent-grafts: Relay, Valiant, Hercules, TAG, and Ankura. Each stent-graft received 2 groups of fenestrations: one was followed by gradual sequential dilation (4-, 6-, 8-, and 10-mm balloons) and the other by rapid dilation (4- and 10-mm balloons). The pressure was increased to 10 atmospheres or until the balloon was fully inflated with no waist. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations, including fenestration diameter, area, shape, and margins were conducted using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Results: Relay had the strongest resistance to dilation and Ankura the slightest. The maximum length and area of holes expanded as the balloon diameter increased. The fenestrations in polyester devices were mostly elliptical or slit-like, with limited tears but extensive fibers visible in the margin, while ePTFE stent-grafts showed larger fenestration areas with clearer margins. Ankura showed the best quality of fenestrations, which were always circular or square without fabric tears, while the holes in the TAG were square or elliptical but sometimes had a slit after large balloon dilation (≥6 mm). The Relay, Valiant, Hercules, and Ankura devices showed no difference in maximum diameter, fenestration area, or scores of shape and margin (p>0.05). Rapid dilation in the TAG increased the rate of uncontrolled fabric tear, resulting in a larger final diameter (12.90 vs 10.82 mm, p=0.047), smaller area (30.46 vs 41.09 mm2, p=0.028), worse shape (0.75 vs 1.20, p=0.268), and worse margin (0.40 vs 1.00, p=0.174). Though the decreased fenestration shape and margin scores did not reach statistical significance, the trend for decline was more obvious than with the other devices. Conclusion: Materials and structures of the stent-grafts determine the quality of fenestrations dilated by different size balloons. The use of sequential vs rapid balloon dilation is also crucial for fashioning high-quality fenestrations and should be selected judiciously.

Abstract Objective The aim of study was to evaluate in vitro the surface hardness, sorption, solubility, and color stability of three light-cured resin cements, namely RelyX Veneer (RLX), Variolink Veneer (VLK), and All Cem Veneer (ACV). Materials and Methods Cylindrical samples (15 × 1 mm) were made for each group using a metallic mold (n = 10). Vickers microhardness test was performed, and average hardness was calculated from three indentations (300 gf/15s) per sample. The sorption and solubility of the materials were evaluated according to ISO 4049:2009 based on three samples weighing: initial (m 1), after immersion in distilled water for 7 days (m 2), and final (after removal of all moisture [m 3]). The color change was observed using a digital spectrophotometer, at three different time points, baseline, 1 day, and 1 week of immersion in coffee and distilled water (control). Statistical Analysis Shapiro–Wilk test was used to analyze the normality of the data, and groups were compared using Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney tests. A significance level of 5% was used. Results RLX showed the highest microhardness mean values (36.96 VHN), but higher sorption (23.2 µg/mm3) and solubility (2.40 µg/mm3), with statistically significant differences with the other groups. For color stability, higher ∆E was observed for the samples immersed in coffee (p = 0.009). The VLK resin cement presented statistically significant differences from the other groups, with higher color changes in coffee at 1 day (15.14) and after 1 week (23.65). Conclusion RLX resin cement showed better hardness results. All materials tested performed satisfactorily for sorption and solubility according to ISO 4049:2009. All materials showed high-staining values after 1 week of immersion in coffee.

Abstract Measurements of endogenous serotonin and the thrombin-induced serotonin release reaction in platelet concentrates were compared with other methods of quality control: particle counting and pH and gas analyses. A discrepancy between the serotonin release reaction and the other data was observed after seven days of storage. The decline in the release reaction was not predictable from pH measurements or the number of platelets or leukocytes in the concentrate. There was a significant positive correlation between endogenous serotonin content and the thrombin-induced serotonin secretion after seven days of storage. We conclude that the current methods for routine control of platelet concentrates may not ensure the quality of the product after it has been stored for seven days. The thrombin-induced serotonin release may provide a valuable addition to the battery of tests available.
