Research contributes significantly in every country’s national and economic development. In addition, research is fundamental in post graduate progammes in Higher Education (CUE, 2014). This paper is a report of a study that was carried out in Kenya in the year 2020 on graduate students’ perspectives on challenges encountered in research work in higher education. The study adopted a Mixed Methods approach and a survey research design. The study was guided by the systems theory by Bertalanffy (1968) cited by Heylighen and Joslyn (1992). A sample of 10 PhD students and 15 M.ED students from a public university in Kenya was selected through purposive and convenience sampling method. Only the students that had submitted their thesis for examination participated in the study. Since the students were not on campus at the time of the study, only those within reach took part in the study. Data was collected from September to November 2020 using students’ questionnaires that comprised of both closed ended and open ended questions. Data was analyzed through descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that graduate students had challenges pertaining problem identification and statement, data analysis, identification and discussion of the research gap, statement of research objectives/questions, and time management. Nevertheless, the students overcame the challenges through wide reading, and consultations with experts. The study recommended strengthening of teaching and supervision of graduate students, enhancement of graduate students’ support mechanisms and faculty development in higher education. The results of this study provide insight on challenges affecting graduate students in research work. The findings inform universities on teaching of graduate students and research supervision.

The main objective of the study is to understand the caste discrimination in higher education with special reference to Chennai, and to identify the difference between caste discrimination in one’s educational life. Descriptive research is used and convenience sampling method is used to collect the samples. The statistical tools used here is ANOVA, independent sample t test, and chi-square. The sample size is 1860. The paper concludes that more awareness is needed among the public about the abolition of caste discrimination in higher education.

The aim of this study is to explore that what is the effect of this changing working environment on the lecturers. The convenience sampling method based on self-administrated questionnaires is used to evaluate the effect of different variables on the academic labor process and data collected from the lecturers through interview. Concept analysis technique is used for discussion and conclusion. After allresearch, researchers came to know that HEC policies have a negative effect on university autonomy because according to HEC policies they want more research work in a less time which depressed the lecturers and they create a bad research work. Working conditions also have a bad impact on research work because lecturers are unable to do their work attentively. So, if the workload increases lecturers are unable to do their work properly. Incentives and bonuses play a motivational role to motivate lecturers to work well. Based on the results of thisstudy, researchers suggest to universities that they give the autonomy to their lecturers, so they  work with full devotion. And separate the teaching and research work and give the lecturers a good working environment.

Objective: Through decades repatriation has been the most ignored and a problematic phase of the Expatriate Management Cycle (EMC). Expatriates when returning back to their home country are referred as Repatriates and this returning phase is known as Repatriation phase of the Expatriate Management Cycle. This Repatriation phase is mainly the unplanned stage where organizational managers make the mistake. They certainly believe that the repatriates are returning back to their home and wrongly assumes that there will be no complications or challenges for these repatriates on their arrival back to home country. This strategic lack results in the immense dissatisfaction of these repatriates soon after arrival to the home county. Our aim is to provide a detailed study on the process of repatriation by identifying the challenges that are faced by the repatriates on their arrival to the home country and to oversee their subsequent impact on their job performance. Methodology: Data was collected through primary means using convenience sampling method through various organizations and of 300 respondents 186 were filtered out to be analyzed using different statistical techniques on SPSS. Result: There exist a significant negative relationship between all the identified challenges faced by the repatriates and their job satisfaction level Implication: At the end of the research some recommendations were also proposed for the organizational managers to overcome these challenges. This piece of research can not only be used by the researchers for their research work but can also be based by the organizational managers to formulate their repatriation strategies.

Unfortunately, most of these students choosenot to go back to their home country and prefer to stay and work in the the country where they get their country instead. This certain phenomenon is called brain drain. To reduce the possi-bility of brain drain for happening, the quality of local university should be synchronized withinternational standard. This study investigated research supervision as a key factor in the progression of graduate students in the public higher institutions of learning in Uganda. A cross-sectional survey design was used to conduct the study. A total of 312 graduate students on masters' degree programs were randomly selected from 4 public institutions of higher learning. The study also included 20 research supervisors who were conveniently selected and 4 purposively selected graduate school heads. A self-administered structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from the students. The supervisors and research school heads were interviewed. The ordered logistic regression and content analysis methods of data analysis were used to establish the contribution of research supervision to the graduate students’ progression. The findings revealed that the supervisor-supervisee relationship, supervisor guidance and feedback are significant antecedents of the graduate students’ progression. The study thus concluded that public institutions of higher learning institute mechanisms that address the supervisor-supervisee relationship, supervisor guidance and the promptness of any feedback in order to enhance the students’ progression. The study recommends that public institutions of higher learning institute i) annual training programs that focus on promoting a good relationship between supervisors and supervisees, ii) regular research seminars that bring together the supervisors and supervisees and iii) regular meetings between the administration, research supervisors and supervisees in order to review the students’ progress. The institutions should also emphasize adherence to the policy of giving feedback on the students’ research work within set time frames.

The study was carried out to examine the effect of agricultural transformation on the beneficiary’s productivity and poverty of rice farmers in Kano State Nigeria. A multi-stage sampling method was employed to select 571 respondents for the study. Data were collected through structured questionnaires on respondent’s income, input and output quantities as well as their expenditures. Data were analysis using descriptive statistics, Foster-Greer-Thorbecke (FGT), Propensity score matching and LATE model. Results from the study shows that respondents productivity revealed a significant difference of about 127 kg/ha in rice productivity between participants and non-participants. Also, the LATE estimates revealed an average treatment effect ATE0 of about 222.98kg/ha. Furthermore, the project had a significant effect N11, 321.4 on the participant’s consumption expenditure than the non-participants N9980.60. Moreover, participants were, able to increase their household total expenditures by N34780 per annum. Fluctuations of input/output prices insect pests and inadequate extension visits were all the major constraints faced by the farmers. It was recommended that farmers’ information and sensitization system should be overhauled and improved. Also, attention should be given to well organize extension visits for the farmers from stake holders
