Palavras Chave: ProJovem; Cidadania; Jovens Egressos; Avaliação ASSESSING THE URBAN PROJOVEM OF SÃO LUÍS: from the methodological approach to questions about citizenship. It evaluates the results of the National Program of Youth Inclusion – Urban PROJOVEM, implemented in 2005 in the Brazilian capitals. It announces some methodological aspects such as: empirical field, Sao Luis-MA, the year of the survey, 2010; numbers of subjects, 154, 74 from de Program and 80 that did not take part of the Program, research techniques, focus group and questionnaire, research approach , comparative study with qualitative approach that uses quantitative data, and the research question: What is the difference caused by PROJOVEM in the lives of the graduated students that lives in São Luís-MA? It identifies the purposes of the program, bringing its conceptual basis. It shows the results obtained from the graduated students according to the program objectives, comparing them with the results obtained in the group of the students that did not take part of the Program, establishing the relationship between these and the concept of citizenship. It concludes by announcing that despite the numerous contextual variables, PROJOVEM caused changes in the lives of the São Luís graduated students, pointing as the strongest aspect the continuation of the study. However, with regard to citizenship, it announces that the program did not include full requirements, although it has contributed noticeably to reduce the vulnerability condition of the beneficiaries. It ends revealing the methodological approach of non-neutrality, in which it states that the research results are partial and questionable. The purpose of this research is to determine the organizational support for professionalism that has never been done before. The research approach is to conceptualize the structure of the relationship of variables from a study. Verification research is to test the hypothesis through data collection in the field using two methods, namely descriptive survey and explanatory survey. The use of both methods aims to analyze the causality relationship between research variables in accordance with the hypothesis quantitatively. There is significant influence between the variables of organizational support to professional variables. However, different results are found on the influence of organizational support variables on OCB and performance that have no significant effect. There is also an indirect influence between organizational support variables on OCB and performance through intermediary intervening professionalism variables. The difference between this research and the previous research are the use of constructs and the measurement in the unit of analysis being used.

This paper analyses the research approach on the relationship between scientificscholar knowledge of the teacher and common previous knowledge of students inschool within the context of teaching, learning and conceptual change in sciences. The paper shows two sections: the first is about conceptual historical development ofthe research question. ln this sense the first question was How the students learnsciences and its transformation into the second, third , fourth and fifth question wasjustified on the light of the reading of the following works, mainly: Piaget, A usubel ,Driver, Vygotsky, and Bachelard, Canguilhem, Kuhn, Lakatos, Popper and othersauthors. The second explains the research question taking into consideration themeaning of the teacher, the pupil and the scientific knowledge in the classroom. Forthis purpose it is necessary to design a conceptual structure in order to analyze therelations, the concepts and the research problems of the teaching, learning andassessment in sciences. The structure shows the relationship of the teacher and thepupilas knowledge relationship. This is the cause why scientific knowledge must beconsidered as the hard core of the science teaching. But scientific knowledge in thiscase is seen as a product of the its historical and epistemological development andthe way as scientific knowledge changes in science is the basis forthinking aboutconceptual change of students in the classroom. The paper ends showing the aimsof the researcher engaged in this approach.

This article presents a study in science teaching which aimed to better understand and explain the differences in performance achieved by young Moroccans and Quebecers aged 15 in an international assessment. Our study is part of a diagnostic perspective of conceptions in science (Tsai and Chou, 2002, Kraus and Minstrell, 2002; Thijs and Van Den Berg, 1995; Tsai and Chou, 2002). The theoretical framework is inspired by the work of Balacheff (1995) on the characterization of conceptions according to the subject / environment dynamic. The research approach is based on a mixed, predominantly qualitative approach. Our results attest to the existence of an important influence of conceptions of cultural origin in the orientation of student responses to standardized items used in certain large international surveys. These results therefore offer avenues for reflection on the possibility of putting into perspective the explanations for the difference in performance between countries with different cultural backgrounds, as well as avenues for solution to minimize them. Consequently, our study raises a questioning of a didactic nature on the modeling of the contents and format of so-called standardized items. What can be the invariants in the dressing of a standardized item in science with regard to the contextually valid conceptions which orient the pupils' responses?

The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore how aspects of Schopler's TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children) might be related to music therapy practice, using my own practice in an attached unit at a public primary school in New Zealand as a guide. Using a deductive exploratory research approach, I investigated whether and to what extent themes drawn from TEACCH literature were also evident in my music therapy data. This approach can also be described as secondary analysis of data. That is, clinical data relating to individual and group music therapy sessions with children who have autism was subjected to a process of thematic analysis to answer the research question. The TEACCH philosophy advocates a structured teaching approach in order to support students with autism to develop independence and skills for self management. This study finds that many elements of music therapy practice are closely linked to TEACCH values. Results from the study show that many TEACCH strategies align with fundamental aspects of music therapy, but the frequency and consistency of these similarities can vary due to the diverse strengths and needs of individuals with autism. As the process of comparing the TEACCH literature to my clinical practice developed and changed, some aspects of TEACCH became more integrated within my music therapy practice. The study also highlights the importance of balancing structure and freedom within the work and how musical structure or form can link with TEACCH strategies.

The investigation of information systems (IS) development usually relies on two different research approaches, namely, quantitative approach and qualitative approach. Both approaches are equally important and useful to the development of IS theories. No research approach should be considered to be superior or inferior to the other. However, the mainstream of Chinese IS research mainly follows the quantitative approach, whereas the qualitative approach is generally viewed as “too soft” or not scientific enough. As a qualitative approach, desk case-study research approach has been widely accepted and applied in a number of IS research in the West. However, in China, this approach is merely considered as an effective approach for teaching, but not valid for scientific research investigations. Thus, Chinese IS research have neglected a number of important experiences, viewpoints and lessons, which can be elicited from IS case-studies occurred in the past. This chapter generally aims at introducing and discussing the desk case-study approach in IS research. Specifically, this chapter discusses this approach through four incremental research stages, namely, defining the research question, establishing theoretical framework from literature review, case-study selection, and theory formulation through case-study analysis. Furthermore, two exemplary research projects are presented in this chapter to further clarify and substantiate the research methods, tools and processes. It is expected that by formulating a rigorous research framework and specifying incremental processes of theory development, this research approach could be accepted and used by Chinese IS scholars in the future.

This study investigated the relationship between students’ achievement in practical and essaytests on biology. Two research questions were formulated- (i) what is the difference in the mean score of students in practical and essay tests in mock biology examinations? (ii) what is the measure of relationship (correlation coefficient) of students’ achievement in practical and essay aspects of biology tests? The research was conducted among public secondary schools in Nsukka Education Zone of Enugu State with a sampled population of 560 biology students (321 males and 239 females) from randomly sampled schools from the three local government areas in the zone. The Correlation survey research design was adopted for this study and the instrument of data collection were the results of the 2018 students’ mock practical and theoretical tests on biology from the sampled schools. The data collected were analysed using Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) for research question 1, while the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient analysis was used for research question 2. The findings of the study revealed that a weak positive association existed between the students’ achievementin practical and essay biology tests. So, the achievement in one aspect does not in any way influence the achievement in the other. The study thus recommends that: (1) teachers should have good mastery and evaluation techniques of all components of biology so that students would approach them with equal ability; (2) parents should encourage the students to develop interest and ability in the different components of biology; and (3) government should provide and equip biology laboratories to ensure students’ utilization of same.

Executive remuneration has been the subject of close scrutiny, huge public outcries and criticisms in the recent past in South Africa. This has invariably attracted unprecedented research interest across different sectors of the economy. Various studies on executive remuneration versus corporate performance have been conducted across South African companies with no finite consensus. This study joins the debate with the hope of reaching common understanding on the relationship between the two variables. The study seeks to investigate the relationship between CEO remuneration and company performance on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Listed (JSE) Companies from 2010 to 2015. In particular, the focus of the study was to determine if these two constructs were correlated and aligned with the corporate governance principles. The study, employed a deductive methodological approach, based on a longitudinal, descriptive quantitative design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the actively listed companies that met the prescribed criteria. Secondary data, sourced from McGregor BFA database was used for the study. Data analysis took an archival quantitative research approach. Regression and time series statistical analyses were performed on secondary data on CEO remuneration and company performance metrics. The findings confirmed the existence of a positive relationship between CEO remuneration and company performance in South Africa as hinted by previous studies
