Abstract This work presents basic information about the design, manufacturing technology, and application of small-sized sealed-off spark-gaps in metal-ceramic design with hydrogen filling up to 120 atmospheres at an operating voltage of 100-400 kV with switching energy of up to 10 Joules in pulsed X-ray flaw detectors. The main factors affecting the mechanical strength and stability of the spark-gap operation are described. The results of an experimental study of the switching characteristics of the RO-49 spark gap-sharpeners are presented.

Objectives: Ceramic product design is a process that is the most purposeful, practical and aesthetic product system design made of ceramic materials. It is a creative process of conception, behavior and realization. Design is a creative process, and the power of creativity comes from the use of creative thinking by designers. As a kind of design type, ceramic design, in the face of constantly updated market environment and market demand, naturally cannot exist independently from creative thinking. Methods: The innovative design of ceramic products, once accepted by the society, is not only the decisive factor for the quality leap of ceramic products, but also an important condition for ceramic products to gain competitive advantage in sales. The application of ceramic decorative art in modern decorative design is undoubtedly a new fashion element in the development of modern decorative design. Results: Based on the perspective of the style characteristics of product design, this paper interprets the ceramic decorative art and studies the combination of ceramic product design and creative thinking. Conclusion: In the process of design, creative thinking is used to show the value of products, which provides inexhaustible power for the innovation and development of product design.

Monoclinic bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) is an attractive material with which to fabricate photoanodes due to its suitable band structure and excellent photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. However, the poor PEC stability originating from its severe photo-corrosion greatly restricts its practical applications. In this paper, pristine and Mo doped BiVO4 ceramics were prepared using the spark plasma sintering (SPS) method, and their photoelectrochemical properties as photoanodes were investigated. The as-prepared 1% Mo doped BiVO4 ceramic (Mo-BVO (C)) photoanode exhibited enhanced PEC stability compared to 1% Mo doped BiVO4 films on fluorine doped Tin Oxide (FTO) coated glass substrates (Mo-BVO). Mo-BVO (C) exhibited a photocurrent density of 0.54 mA/cm2 and remained stable for 10 h at 1.23 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), while the photocurrent density of the Mo-BVO decreased from 0.66 mA/cm2 to 0.11 mA/cm2 at 1.23 V vs. RHE in 4 h. The experimental results indicated that the enhanced PEC stability of the Mo-BVO (C) could be attributed to its higher crystallinity, which could effectively inhibit the dissociation of vanadium in BiVO4 during the PEC process. This work may illustrate a novel ceramic design for the improvement of the stability of BiVO4 photoanodes, and might provide a general strategy for the improvement of the PEC stability of metal oxide photoanodes.

A particular ceramic product offered by the designers and manufacturers is measured based on its appearance and performance from aesthetic value, design and craftsmanship quality. Products in our daily life play an essential role in bringing us happiness, comfort, convenience and satisfaction to the consumers and buyers. In a Malay community in Malaysia, the Malay Traditional Pottery is one of the Malay arts heritage. Its products used to have a high demand among the locals as well as people from abroad. However, today, demand for Malay Traditional Pottery from the locals has declined significantly. Hence, to improve the product appearance, this study highlights one of the essential factors in ceramic design features, namely surface decoration, by using motifs derived from the Malay Traditional Pottery onto the new contemporary design of the local ceramic products. The surface decoration consists of motifs, patterns, colours, techniques and materials. Surface decoration study would give designers and local ceramic entrepreneurs the product appearance improvement. With such improvements, local ceramic products would become a preferred choice for the consumer’s daily use. This study also aimed to entice the designer to be involved in pattern design and ceramic product surfaces.

Chinese ceramics have a long history and have been deeply recognized by the world after centuries of changes. The current world ceramic industry is diversified. Under this background, there is a huge challenge to the development of Chinese ceramics. The update of materials, the participation of computers in ceramic design, and the demonstration of ingredients all constitute technological factors that cannot be ignored in the development of the ceramic industry. Therefore, this study uses the SWOT analysis method to analyze the development of Chinese ceramics, puts forward its advantages and disadvantages, opportunities, and threats, and under the background of advanced technology, and how to use computer software to demonstrate raw materials and color matching to make Chinese ceramics. The development achieves the goal of self-improvement and then completes the upgrade of its production process and production. Through the research of this study, it is found that the current development of China’s ceramic industry should be good at using SWOT analysis, face up to its shortcomings and pressure from other ceramic production areas in the world, give full play to its advantages, maximize strengths and avoid weaknesses, and use technological innovation, combined with technical factors from other disciplines, to promote ceramic industry design and production capabilities and provide a reference for the current ceramic industry development.

as an important discovery of ceramic design, contemporary ceramic design must be able to keep pace with the development of the times, learn to actively introduce new elements into the creation. This paper attempts to carry out the research of contemporary ceramic design and creation based on NURBS modeling, which is to integrate digital technology into the traditional ceramic design, and use NURBS modeling to innovate the decoration design of contemporary Famile-rose porcelain, so that the pastel porcelain works have a stronger sense of the times.
