Mathematical logical intelligence is one of the skills that are needed in the 21st century related to mathematical problem-solving skills. The importance of this skill is not in line with the facts on the ground, where students are still weak in counting and using logic in problem solving. The purpose of this research is to improve students’ mathematical logical intelligence through the online-based integration of local wisdom of Sulapa Eppa Walasuji. Sulapa Eppa Walasuji is one of the Bugis-Makassar local wisdoms with a unique pattern, appropriate to be used as a medium for learning transformation of geometry. Through the integration of local wisdom, Sulapa Eppa Walasuji can create contextual mathematics learning, so that students can easily understand the material by connecting real-life concepts. This research includes experimental research with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group design type. The research instrument used was a mathematical logical intelligence test consisting of five essay questions. The data analysis used is descriptive statistics with gain score and effect size testing. The results showed that the mathematical logical intelligence of experimental class students increased by 43.16 with the effective contribution of the r effect size being 0.910. This indicates that the online-based integration of Sulapa Eppa Walasuji can improve students’ mathematical logical intelligence.

Although the mechanical integrity of a member can be highly influenced by associated stresses, determining the latter can be very challenging for finite orthotropic composites containing cutouts. This is particularly so if the external loading is not well known, a common situation in practical situations. Acknowledging the above, a finite elliptically-perforated orthotropic tensile laminate is stress analyzed by combining measured displacement data with relevant analytical and numerical tools. Knowledge of the external loading is unnecessary. Results are verified independently and the concepts are applicable to other situations. The developed technology can provide important design-type information for orthotropic composites. In particular, the ability to apply analyses for perforated composite structures which assume infinite geometry to finite geometries is demonstrated.

Abstract Social isolation is a growing health issue in community-dwelling older adults with and without dementia as it can negatively affect their health and well-being. Consequently, psychosocial interventions targeting their social participation are increasingly gaining importance. So far, however, little is known about the potential of technological interventions in this population. Therefore, this systematic review explored the effectiveness of technological interventions in improving social participation of community-dwelling older adults with and without dementia. Records identified through five scientific databases were independently screened by two reviewers. A total of 36 studies published between 2005 and 2020 were included in a narrative synthesis. Studies differed widely in study design, type of technology, used outcome measures, and methodological quality. However, the findings highlight the potential role of technological interventions in improving different dimensions of social participation. At the same time, barriers and facilitators of these interventions to social participation were identified.

The breakage of agglomerates due to wall impact within a turbulent two-phase flow is studied based on a recently developed model which relies on two artificial neural networks (ANNs). The breakup model is intended for the application within an Euler-Lagrange approach using the point-particle assumption. The ANNs were trained based on comprehensive DEM simulations. In the present study the entire simulation methodology is applied to the flow through two sharp pipe bends considering two different Reynolds numbers. In a first step, the flow structures of the continuous flow arising in both bend configurations are analyzed in detail. In a second step, the breakage behavior of agglomerates consisting of spherical, dry and cohesive silica particles is predicted based on the newly established simulation methodology taking agglomeration, fluid-induced breakage and breakage due to wall impact into account. The latter is found to be the dominant mechanism determining the resulting size distribution at the bend outlet. Since the setups are generic geometries found in dry powder inhalers, important knowledge concerning the effect of the Reynolds number as well as the design type (one-step vs. two-step deflection) can be gained.

Introduction: Social emergency medicine (EM) is an emerging field that examines the intersection of emergency care and social factors that influence health outcomes. We conducted a scoping review to explore the breadth and content of existing research pertaining to social EM to identify potential areas where future social EM research efforts should be directed. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive PubMed search using Medical Subject Heading terms and phrases pertaining to social EM topic areas (e.g., “homelessness,” “housing instability”) based on previously published expert consensus. For searches that yielded fewer than 100 total publications, we used the PubMed “similar publications” tool to expand the search and ensure no relevant publications were missed. Studies were independently abstracted by two investigators and classified as relevant if they were conducted in US or Canadian emergency departments (ED). We classified relevant publications by study design type (observational or interventional research, systematic review, or commentary), publication site, and year. Discrepancies in relevant publications or classification were reviewed by a third investigator. Results: Our search strategy yielded 1,571 publications, of which 590 (38%) were relevant to social EM; among relevant publications, 58 (10%) were interventional studies, 410 (69%) were observational studies, 26 (4%) were systematic reviews, and 96 (16%) were commentaries. The majority (68%) of studies were published between 2010–2020. Firearm research and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) health research in particular grew rapidly over the last five years. The human trafficking topic area had the highest percentage (21%) of interventional studies. A significant portion of publications -- as high as 42% in the firearm violence topic area – included observational data or interventions related to children or the pediatric ED. Areas with more search results often included many publications describing disparities known to predispose ED patients to adverse outcomes (e.g., socioeconomic or racial disparities), or the influence of social determinants on ED utilization. Conclusion: Social emergency medicine research has been growing over the past 10 years, although areas such as firearm violence and LGBTQ health have had more research activity than other topics. The field would benefit from a consensus-driven research agenda.

Commercial aquaponics systems remain a challenge independent of the country, fish, plant species, or system design type. Most aquaponics systems are made by hobbyists, with aquaponics not being the main source of income. As such, scholars and practitioners have long debated the real profitability of aquaponics systems. With the growth of the aquaponics industry and commercial businesses, sustainable economic viability is necessary. Recently, considerable literature has been published around the theme of aquaponics systems design but there is a gap in the literature regarding the business aspect of this. Moreover, only by acquiring the enterprise knowledge of planning a business case, obtaining funds, and running and maintaining a business will this industry be able to grow. This paper intends to create a directory of possible considerations to plan for a viable commercial aquaponics system by uniting already established business frameworks and adapting them to the aquaponics industry. This framework proposes a guide to evaluate the economic feasibility of the enterprise depending on the revenues, costs and investments needed for the chosen system within its operations, market, and environment.

Objectives: Ceramic product design is a process that is the most purposeful, practical and aesthetic product system design made of ceramic materials. It is a creative process of conception, behavior and realization. Design is a creative process, and the power of creativity comes from the use of creative thinking by designers. As a kind of design type, ceramic design, in the face of constantly updated market environment and market demand, naturally cannot exist independently from creative thinking. Methods: The innovative design of ceramic products, once accepted by the society, is not only the decisive factor for the quality leap of ceramic products, but also an important condition for ceramic products to gain competitive advantage in sales. The application of ceramic decorative art in modern decorative design is undoubtedly a new fashion element in the development of modern decorative design. Results: Based on the perspective of the style characteristics of product design, this paper interprets the ceramic decorative art and studies the combination of ceramic product design and creative thinking. Conclusion: In the process of design, creative thinking is used to show the value of products, which provides inexhaustible power for the innovation and development of product design.

ABSTRACT Decision makers inevitably face a variety of tensions when managing strategic change. Research from organization and strategy perspectives, such as paradox and organizational learning, has offered useful but limited insight into the systematic mindset and thinking processes involved in decision making. We draw on theoretical and philosophical foundations of the transparadox perspective and related theories to build a dynamic process cycle of transparadoxical decision making. Three interrelated dimensions make up our model: (1) Transparadox Information Navigation, which includes embracing oppositional tendencies, syncretic focus, and creative transcendence; (2) Transparadox Contextual Consideration, characterized by prudent precision and recognizing the flux of temporality and spatiality; and (3) Transparadox Integration, which comprises design-type integration and exploration-type integration. We then present propositions on the interdependent and reinforcing mechanism among the three dimensions. Our work expands the paradox literature with specific mindset dimensions and constituent elements, connecting paradox research with the cognitive perspective by adding dynamic, cyclical processes to paradox cognition study.
