Researchers examine stock volatility in emerging (E7) nations prior to and during COVID-19 announcements using multiple volatility estimations. The correlation coefficient matrix indicates that there is a strong positive correlation between the specified volatility estimators in the pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 periods. Rogers-Satchell standard deviation has the first rank, and Garman-Klass has the last position in the pre-post-COVID-19 analysis volatility estimators. However, the authors discover a considerable influence of pre-post COVID-19 on the world's E7 countries. The findings' primary implication is that post-COVID-19 volatility is greater than pre-COVID-19 volatility. This means that investors' financial portfolios should be rebalanced to favor industries that are less impacted by COVID-19. Additionally, it serves as an early warning signal for investors and the government to take preventative measures in the event that it occurs again in the future.

Followers are underrepresented in the organizational change literature despite their considerable influence on change success. Politics, culture, motivation, communication, and readiness have a large impact on change success, and these influences are examined in the change context. Each of these are influenced by leaders and followers. The role of authentic followers in enabling positive change through their organizational engagement is explored in depth. This chapter demonstrates that while the influential role of leaders in change is established, the authentic follower represents a large body of potential change agents with the capacity to positively influence the success of change. Many behaviors of the authentic follower make them an ideal candidate for this role, including moral potency, high levels of engagement in organizational structure, and flexibility. Further research highlighting the value of the authentic follower is warranted.

During 1959-89, the 12-month running means of 50 hPa zonal winds, the average atmospheric temperatures in the northern and southern hemisphere at four altitude slabs (950 hPa, 850- 300 hPa, 300-100 hPa and 100-50 hPa), Pacific and Atlantic sea surface temperature (SST) and-30hPa temperatures at North Pole and average for (10°-90° N), all showed quasi-biennial oscillations (QBO). However, whereas the wind QBO had an average spacing of 29 months, only temperatures at 300-100 hPa and Atlantic SST had similar average spacing. Other temperatures as also SO index (represented by Tahiti minus Darwin atmospheric pressure) had larger average spacing. Spectral analysis showed that whereas wind QBO had only one prominent peak at T=2.33 years, other parameters had weak QBOs near T=2.5-2.6 years except Pacific SST and 30 hPa North Pole temperature which had small peaks near T=2.3 years. All the temperatures had prominent peaks in the 3-6 year region which matched with similar peaks in the SO index. There is some indication that stratospheric wind QBO had some relation with parameters at all altitudes in tropics and with North Pole, while ENSO had considerable influence at other latitudes/altitudes.

Technological developments have a considerable influence on education, especially in learning media. Learning media is no longer conventional but is starting adapted with existing technology. The results of the initial observations found that the majority of senior high schools already have facilities for technology-based learning media, but the utilization of technology-based learning media is still very low. This resulted in less utilization of school facilities which already provided. Based on these observations and references from existing researches, it is assumed that e-learning, which is one of the technology-based learning media, can be used as a learning media for blended learning models. This research purpose was to produce an e-learning as learning media and the assessment level of practicality. This research used the Research and Development’s method with four-D development procedures to examine the level of practicality. To assess the level of practicality of e-learning, an assessment through a questionnaire was given to randomly selected subjects. The practicality assessment questionnaire consists of three main indicators such as indicators state of use, effectiveness of learning time and indicators of benefits. Referring to the results of the assessment, the average level of e-learning’s practicality is 80.70% so it can be concluded that e-learning is practical to be used as a learning media.

Abstract Globalization has gone digital and presents a new type of connectivity virtually today. Digital globalization has transformed the landscape of translation theory and practice, exerting considerable influence on translation studies and the profession of translators. The translation practice evolves with the change of literary expectations driven by the digital revolution. New translation modes have been cultivated by incorporating two essential features of the age, known as technology and participation. Against this backdrop, Chinese web fiction is going global with establishing and developing overseas volunteer translation websites. With this in mind, this paper analyzes the translation model of Chinese web fiction with respect to digital globalization and argues that the fan-based volunteer translation has emerged as a new paradigm that features the “user participation turn” in translation studies.

There is general agreement among intercultural scholars that FL course-books as dominant teaching materials have considerable influence on FL learners’ attitudes towards the target culture, as well as on their overall intercultural communicative competences (ICC). Therefore, in order to equip FL learners with the necessary intercultural knowledge and skills, much greater attention should be paid to the content of this fundamental didactic tool. A number of checklists and models have been elaborated in order to help to decide whether the particular teaching material has the potential to develop FL learners’ ICC. The present paper aims at summarising the results of document analyses that served to fine-tune the research instrument applied in a course-book package analysis. However, the findings of the research also provide a list of aspects that be treated in FL classrooms in order to develop learners’ ICC.

Micro-chaos is the phenomenon when the sampling, the delay and the round-off lead to small amplitude chaotic oscillations in a digitally controlled system. It has been proved mathematically during the last few years in a couple of simple cases that the evolving vibrations are indeed chaotic. In this study, we partially generalize these results to the case when an originally unstable state of a system is stabilized by digital feedback control. It is pointed out that this type of systems are sensitive to initial conditions and there exists a finite attracting domain in their phase-space. We also show that the oscillations, related to micro-chaos may have a considerable influence on the accuracy and settling time of the control system. The application of numerical techniques is unavoidable in the case of chaotic systems. Several possibilities are highlighted in the paper for the numerical determination of important characteristics of microchaotic oscillations.

Production of flavonoids in madder callus culture (Rubia tinctorum L.) was dependent on culture conditions and culture media composition. The content of flavonoids increased in calli maintained on media supplemented with NAA (4 mg.l-1) or NAA:BAP (4 mg.l-1 a 1 mg.l-1) in 16 h photoperiod. Flavonoids represented 2.08 – 2.25 % of callus dry mass. The presence of Cd(NO3)2 (3.1 or 31.0 mg.l-1 concentrations) negatively influenced callus growth, but enhaced the percentage of dry mass in callus cells. During 42 days of culture an increase of cadmium accumulation and even of flavonoids has been observed. The most considerable influence of CdCl2 or Cd(NO3)2 on flavonoids content has been shown in short-term experiments after 48 h of callus culture. More distinct influence has been observed under the treatment with CdCl2 (0.005 mg.l-1) in comparison with Cd(NO3)2.

The works by outstanding authors beginning with Saul Bellow (Dangling Man, 1944) or Jerome Salinger’s prose and up to Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, 1991), Percy Walker, David Foster Wallace, show a persistent fascination of American writers with the novella and are based on re-reading and re-interpreting Dostoevsky’s ideas, motives and imagery.

Faces are a highly privileged class of stimuli in humans, and facial attractiveness is a particularly salient attribute of faces that can exert considerable influence on the behavior of others. In the 2003 paper discussed in this chapter, the authors aimed to investigate the neural correlates of facial attractiveness in the brain, hypothesizing that attractive faces would recruit basic reward circuits, especially the orbitofrontal cortex. Consistent with their hypothesis, they found robust engagement of the orbitofrontal cortex to attractive faces and, moreover, that this response was enhanced if a face exhibited a smiling expression. Taken together, these results suggest that facial attractiveness and cues signaling positive social feedback can robustly recruit the brain’s reward circuitry, positioning attractive faces alongside other basic rewards while also aligning attractive faces with other aesthetically pleasing stimuli that engage similar circuits such as works of art.
