Abstract Background Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women which increases after the age of 35 till it reaches a peak at 55-64 years. Metformin is a synthetic oral biguanide that has been shown to cause a 30% reduction in the lifetime risk of all cancers in diabetic patients on Metformin. We aimed at evaluating this antineoplastic effect in terms of pathological response, concurrent with standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer. Methodology 60 non-diabetic breast cancer patients receiving standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy at the breast cancer outpatient clinic, Ain Shams University hospital, were randomized into two arms (30 in each arm); Arm A Group receiving Metformin (850 mg bid) with standard line of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (FEC/Taxotere +/- Herceptin). Arm B Control group receiving the standard line of neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone. Results There’s a significant difference between Metformin and control arm in terms of response (complete and partial) versus no response (p = 0.03). Response to Metformin was significantly more pronounced in Luminal B subtype breast cancer (p = 0.03) and in grade II (p = 0.03). There’s no significant difference in toxicity between both arms; most common toxicities in both arms were vomiting (53.6%), nausea (30.4%) and neutropenia (30.4%) Conclusion Metformin has a significant antineoplastic effect which was measured in this study in terms of significant increase in pathological response concurrently with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer compared to giving neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone.

In the paper presents results of analysis of the influence of the thickness of the dielectric substrate of a capacitive beating sensor, the electrodes of which are made of foil dielectric type FR4, on the transformation function of the sensor by methods of computer modeling are presented. The results of research by methods of computer modeling of the influence of the thickness of the dielectric substrate of a capacitive beating sensor, the electrodes of which are made of foil dielectric type FR4, on the transformation function of the sensor are presented. The studies were performed in the measurement range of the sensor with a change in the thickness of the dielectric selected from a standard line of material sizes. A comparative analysis method for manufacturing capacitive sensors using PCB technology was done. As a result of the analysis, the dependences of the influence of the thickness of the dielectric substrate on the conversion function of the capacitive sensor are obtained. Bibl. 20, fig. 2, table.

Struma ovarii is a rare ovarian tumor and a monodermal variant of dermoid tumors of the ovary in which thyroid tissue components constitute more than 50% of the mass. Struma ovarii accounts for 0.5–1.0% of all ovarian tumors and 2-5% of ovarian teratomas. Most cases are benign, but malignant transformation is found in a small percentage. It usually presents as a unilateral adnexal mass at fifth and sixth decades of life, with symptoms like other ovarian tumors. The definitive diagnosis is made by histological examination. Adnexectomy remains the standard line of treatment for benign disease. A 41-year-old lady presented with pain in abdomen for 3 months. On ultrasonography and MRI, a multiloculated solid cystic lesion of 7×6 cm with internal echoes was found in the right adnexa. Laparoscopic right adnexectomy was performed. Histopathology was consistent with struma ovarii. Due to its vague clinical manifestations and diverse imaging characteristics, pre-operative diagnosis is challenging.

The current outbreak of the COVID-19 has declared as a global health emergency. Moreover, COVID -19 mostly affects the persons having low immunity & mortality rate is also more in such persons. The standard line of treatment for this disease is not yet established. Considering the current need-based scenario, prevention of the disease by improving the immune system is the best & ultimate way to combat this dreadful situation. Therefore, various Yoga Practices useful for immunity building, described in Ayurvedic literature are compiled through this paper, which may become helpful to improve the strength of lungs as well as general immunity of the body. This conceptual study is narrated in a clear & tabular manner under heads of the concept of immunity in Ayurveda, the importance & advantages of Pranayam & Asanas  with Immuno-modulator effect of Yoga in COVID -19. All narration is given along with suitable discussion in contemporary science. Daily practices of Yoga play a crucial role in the improvement in the body defense mechanism by making comfortable & relaxed breathing with an increase in elastic recoiling of lungs but without increasing the respiratory rate. It also nourishes the specific organs by increasing the oxygen level in the blood. From that, it is reflected that these Yoga Practices can be used as supportive & preventative therapy for COVID -19 & can fulfill the above-said need.

Aim. To evaluate the dynamics of the manifestation of hybrid dysgenesis in the Harwich line observed under the influence of tetracycline and compare the gathered data with the data for the Oregon-R line. Methods. The line of Drosophila melanogaster Harwich was investigated. This line is considered the standard line of the P cytotype. Removal of Wolbachia from the body was implemented using antibiotic tetracycline. The level of hybrid dysgenesis was studied by the method of extracting gonad flies and assessing their condition. Results. A stable and significant increase in the proportion of dysgenic individuals within the Harwich line was recorded after suppression of the internal microflora - including Wolbachia pipientis – by tetracycline. Conclusions. The suppression of the internal microflora of Drosophila melanogaster by tetracycline significantly affects the level of manifestation of hybrid dysgenesis caused by transpositions of the P-element. The data obtained are similar to the results of a similar study of the level of manifestation of hybrid dys-genesis caused by transpositions of hobo MGE. Keywords: mobile genetic elements, hybrid dysgenesis, P-element, Drosophila melanogaster, Wolbachia pipientis.

Covid -19 outbreak is current frustating entity to medical field and having dreadful impacts on global health system & economy. As standard line of treatment for this entity is not yet established & current statistics based on its impacts of high mortality rate is really discoraging. This situation demands for alternative search for its treatment in other science & also emphasizes over importance of its prevention in current situation by improving immunity.Basic aim of this paper is to search various treatment & preventative regimes in Ayurveda for management of different Aoupasargic Roga i.e. communicable diaseses. Relevant literature regarding concept of communicable disease in Ayurveda was explored from available Ayurvedic compendium. Various references in Ayurveda shows that both preventaive & curative aspect of airborne communicable diseases can be fulfilled with the help of Ayurveda.By adopting Ayurvedic measures such as following proper Dincharaya , Rutucharya , Sadvritta,Achara Rasayana, Panchakarma , Shaman Cikitsa & Rasayana , Yogapachara ,Spiritual therapies,Dhoopana Karma; both physical and mental health can be maintained & occurrence & spreading of such diaseases can avoided.Ayurveda can give This is an encouraging development and a good initiative for the treatment.
