This study aimed at describing the model and implementation of Arabic language learning at State Islamic Universities (PTKINs) in East Java viewed from a multicultural perspective. This study is essential, considering the diversity of ethnicities and cultures in Indonesia, so unity in learning is needed. This qualitative study described the phenomenon and extracted data obtained from interviews with program managers and lecturers, as well as pre-pandemic observation and documentation of the learning implementation. The results showed that PTKINs in East Java implement an intensive program to equip students to master Arabic with adequate Arabic graduation standards. Its implementation is carried out both in the classroom through learning programs and outside the classroom activities to provide motivation and improve learning outcomes through structured activities.

The literature suggests that individual characteristics of offenders are related to cognitive patterns before their release from prison. Empirical evidence shows that such cognitions can influence the extent to which offenders take an active role in rehabilitation. Given that many studies upon which these conclusions are made are dated, qualitative, or use bivariate analyses, it is unclear how salient, strong, and significant these associations are. Therefore, the aim of this exploratory study is to identify the factors that are associated with two prelease cognitions, future orientation and readiness for release, and to investigate whether future orientation is associated with greater involvement in structured activities. This study uses survey data collected from a sample of 503 people incarcerated in medium-security prisons in South Carolina in the United States. Ordered logistic regression models reveal that idleness, marital status, and drug dependence are associated with future orientation, while idleness, engagement in work and education, age, marital status, sentence phase, and mental health issues are related to readiness for release. Negative binomial regression shows that future orientation is associated with more extensive involvement in structured activities. Overall, the study concludes that while inmates are generally future-oriented, they are less confident that they are prepared for release from prison. The limitations of this study, including low scale reliabilities for key variables and a substantial amount of missing data, are also discussed.

Young children often struggle to accomplish goals without instructions or reminders from adults. Less-structured activities might facilitate children’s emerging self-directed executive functioning, by giving children opportunities to choose what to do and when, and to practice setting and accomplishing goals. In one study, 6-year-old children who spent more time in less-structured activities showed better self-directed switching on a verbal fluency task; conversely, more time in adult-structured activities predicted worse switching (Barker et al., 2014). However, it is unclear from such correlational studies whether children’s activities caused differences in executive functioning, as opposed to differences in executive functioning shaping how children spent time, or a third factor driving both. The current study thus investigated relationships between children’s experiences and self-directed executive function in a genetically-informative longitudinal twin sample (N= 936; 472 female, 464 male) . Twins who lived in more structured homes and participated in more structured activities at ages 3 and 4 showed worse self-directed switching on a verbal fluency task at age 7, controlling for earlier performance and concurrent levels of environmental structure. These relationships persisted controlling for general cognitive ability, vocabulary knowledge, and socioeconomic status. Associations between early time use and self-directed switching were mediated by nonshared environmental rather than genetic factors. These findings are consistent with early structured time causally affecting later self-directed executive function.

Teachers must be able to increase the standard of their student's education. Various innovations in improving the quality of learning can be done through Classroom Action Research. However, the facts show that the productivity of teachers at SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang has not shown significant development. As part of efforts to improve the quality of student learning in class, many teachers have not been able to implement Classroom Action Research. Therefore, this service seeks to provide classroom action research training assistance to teachers of SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah Malang. This service program is carried out in four structured activities, namely sharing, concept expository, training and mentoring, and writing research articles. Through the activities that have been carried out, it was found that the main cause of the absence of the research being conducted was motivation. Through psychological strengthening and intensive mentoring, supported by a strategy to develop worksheet instruments, can provide significant results. Teachers of SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang can design and produce classroom action research.

Time in less-structured activities is associated with children’s developing executive function, but it is unclear why. Prior research suggests less-structured time specifically benefits self-directed executive function, by allowing children to practice making choices. We tested another hypothesis: that less-structured time also benefits externally-cued executive function, which develops earlier than self-directed executive function, theorizing that less-structured time can provide children with opportunities to acquire knowledge that supports emerging control skills. Caregivers of 93 3- to 5-year-olds reported their child’s activities on a typical day at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, and children completed a widely-used cued executive function task, the Dimensional Change Card Sort. Time and variety in less-structured activities predicted successful switching on the card sort, controlling for age, family income, caregiver education, and verbal knowledge. Caregivers were more involved in less-structured versus structured activities. Children’s temperament, as rated by caregivers, predicted how they spent their time. Findings provide a more nuanced picture of how less-structured time and executive function are related, consistent with less-structured time affording opportunities for children, particularly those higher in effortful control, to acquire diverse knowledge that supports engaging control in various ways.

This study aims to determine the elements of planning, planning steps, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of planning at Masjid Al-Muhajir. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews, document study, and audio recordings. The results of this study indicate that there is an element of planning in which there are 5W + 1H. The planning steps include evaluation of previous activities, receiving some input from the congregation for the activities to be planned. For the benefit, activities become more focused and structured, activities run optimally, and are easy to evaluate. The disadvantages are that there are several activities that are not realized, as well as concerns about mosque budgets, because mosque finances are only racing on the infaq box.
