Abstract Background Combining the multimodal imaging and synergistic treatment in one platform can enhance the therapeutic efficacy and diagnosis accuracy. Results In this contribution, innovative Mn-doped Prussian blue nanoparticles (MnPB NPs) were prepared via microemulsion method. MnPB NPs demonstrated excellent T1 and T2 weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enhancement in vitro and in vivo. The robust absorbance in the near infrared range of MnPB NPs provides high antitumor efficacy for photothermal therapy (PTT) and photoacoustics imaging property. Moreover, with the doping of Mn, MnPB NPs exhibited excellent Fenton reaction activity for chemodynamic therapy (CDT). The favorable trimodal imaging and Fenton reaction enhanced mild temperature photothermal therapy in vitro and in vivo were further confirmed that MnPB NPs have significant positive effectiveness for integration of diagnosis and treatment tumor. Conclusions Overall, this Mn doped Prussian blue nanoplatform with multimodal imaging and chemodynamic/mild temperature photothermal co-therapy provides a reliable tool for tumor treatment. The use of adsorbed natural gas (ANG) as a transportation fuel is a relatively cleaner alternative compared to that of gasoline and is important from the perspective of environmental safety. However, unlike gasoline and diesel, natural gas requires compression, liquefaction, and adsorption techniques for its storage, as it has a very low volumetric energy density. Among all storage techniques, adsorption-based natural gas (ANG) storage is considered as more economical and relatively safe technology due to its mild temperature and pressure conditions for the storage. This chapter will summarize the recent advances in the area of ANG with reference to various synthetic storage materials recently developed for the purpose and their efficiency towards storage and deliverability of natural gas. Particular emphasis will be given to adsorbents based on porous carbon materials, metal organic frameworks, and covalent organic frameworks for the said application. The synthetic procedure for the above adsorbents, followed by their efficiency to store and deliver natural gas, will be discussed. Finally, in the conclusion, the future scope of the technology will be summarized.

Abstract Background Mild-temperature photothermal therapy (mild-PTT) has emerged as a highly promising antitumor strategy by triggering immunogenic cell death (ICD) to elicit both innate and adaptive immune responses for tumor control. However, mild-PTT still leads to the risk of tumor recurrence or metastasis because it could hardly completely eradicate tumors due to its impaired immunological efficacy owing to the enhanced PD-L1 expression in tumor cells after treatment. Results In this study, we described a hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) responsive manganese dioxide mineralized albumin nanocomposite loading with mitochondria function inhibitor phenformin (PM) and near-infrared photothermal dye indocyanine green (ICG) by modified two-step biomineralization method. In combination with ICG induced mild-PTT and PM mediated mitochondria dysfunction, PD-L1 expression was obviously down-regulated and the generated immunological responses was able to effectively attack the remaining tumor cells. Meanwhile, the risk of tumor metastasis was effectively inhibited by reducing the expression of tumor invasion-related signal molecules (TGF-β and vimentin) after combining treatment. Conclusion Such a strategy offers novel insight into the development of nanomedicine for mild-PTT as well as cancer immunotherapy, which can provide protection against tumor relapse post elimination of their initial and metastatic tumors. ABSTRACT The 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Ardem Patapoutian and David Julius for their research on receptor channels responsible for the perception of touch and temperature. Somatosensation, an overarching sense that enables us to safely interface with the physical forces around and within us, is the fourth sensory modality to be recognized by the Nobel Committee. The story of the discovery of TRP and PIEZO channels, and subsequent investigations into their myriad roles in the perception of noxious and mild temperature, touch, pain, pressure and body position, is an archetype for how translational research into human and animal health is built on a foundation of excellence in basic science.
