The concept of death is important in Schopenhauer’s philosophy. For him, it is the only certainty. He regards life as a never-ending process of dying. The triumph of death is inevitable and this causes existence to be an absurd tragedy. Influenced in this by Buddhist thinkers, he regards death as the origin of philosophy because it makes us think and search for a solution to counter the futility of existence. This inevitability is discussed in Edgar Allen Poe’s short story The Red Death. The paper examines the concept of death in the story and the futile human struggle to avoid it. Our needs and lusts and the desire to satisfy those needs which he called the Will to Live make life a pain.  One of the solutions that Schopenhauer proposed in his philosophy towards consolation and to counter our insatiability is asceticism. Poe’s short story which is a long series of profound symbols replicates Schopenhauer’s philosophy and man’s futile attempts to escape death. The only diversion from Schopenhauer’s concept is that the protagonist fails to live up to the proposed solution and the protagonist is in the end caught in the inevitability of death

: Wound healing is the complex and a never-ending process that involves numerous mediators, enzymatic cascades that are directly or indirectly involved in the mechanism. So, it becomes necessary to closely examine critical factors such as gaseous exchange, a moist environment, anti-microbial activity, and exudation liquids' absorption while designing wound dressings. There is a heap of wound dressings available for human use, but they all are way apart from the ideal dressing. Use of biopolymers may be a solution to tackle the difficulties such as combining with growth factors and cells that can trigger the wound healing. This article reviews such therapies for wound healing application.

The “other” is seen as a social construction, which helps the establishing of the own identity. To explore how self-identity is reconstructed through deconstructing the image of “the other”, we chose to analyze the case of migrants, who are positioned as ‘the other’ and are treated as distant from the host societies. Albanians in Italy, especially those who have experienced the exodus of March and August of 1991, are at the center of the analysis, because they were the first ones in contact with the Italian society, after the collapse of the communist regime. The secondary data from the literature review and the qualitative primary data, generated from the biographical narration of eighteen people have been used to explore the phenomenon. In order to meet this research criteria, there are some questions to be answered which will help in solving the core issues of the problem. How the boats that arrived from Albanian coasts in Italy did create the image in the plural of settled people as “the other”? Which were the strategies used by these people to deconstruct the image as “the other”? How has self-identity been reconstructed through the time? The research pointed out that the image of “the other”, as a universal process, is created more quickly under the influence of factors that make the "other" more visible, such as the massive exodus through the boats. Although the mimesis tendency was adopted in Albanian immigrants’ case, pushed by the will for a positive social identity, the coexistence with the natives helped to rebuild the perceptions, attitudes, behaviors, and identities, even though self-identity is a never-ending process.   Received: 2 January 2021 / Accepted: 27 February 2021 / Published: 5 March 2021

Abstract This study focuses on the recent increase in the use of older celebrities in cosmetics advertising. It asks what kinds of ideas and values these images may attribute to discourses of ageing. Drawing on a Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis (MCDA) perspective, this study focuses on L'Oréal UK and Ireland Web advertisements, examining how these advertisements use older celebrities to redefine/reposition ageing and exploring how they relate to the notion of ‘successful ageing’. In these advertisements, using cosmetics is presented as a positive, empowering choice. The advertisements simultaneously promote new discourses about ageing in which older women's sexuality is presented as a form of power. However, the analysis shows that the underlying discourse pathologises ageing and presents ageing as something which can be evaded through the consumption of cosmetics. It thus turns ageing into a choice, but one where the ‘right choice’ aligns with neo-liberal ideas about ageing well. For women, decision-making about ageing seems to be a never-ending process that requires constant construction, promoted through the older celebrity's sexualisation. Women are expected to always look good and present the best versions of themselves, even at the latest stages of life, which reproduces and legitimises sexist and ageist expectations about women's appearances, including the expectations that for older women to remain visible and attractive, they must hide outward signs of ageing.
