Microscopic examination is essential to find the type of worm that causes infection. Direct examination of worm eggs needs to use staining to distinguish between worm eggs and food residues that are not completely digested. The dyes commonly used are synthetic. The purpose of this study was to replace synthetic dyes with natural dyes with Andong (Cordyline Fruticosa) leaf juice. It can be used as an alternative or a substitute for dyes. This research method is descriptive, conducted at the Parasitology Laboratory of Poltekkes Kemenkes Pontianak. The population in this study was the juice of the leaves of Andong (Cordyline Fruticosa). The method of inspection is direct preparation with an object glass as is routinely done, but the dye is replaced with Andong leaf juice (Cordyline Fruticosa). The results showed that natural dye Andong leaf juice (Cordyline Fruticosa), gave a clear color to the absorption of intestinal nematode worm eggs as the test target. This study concludes that the juice of the leaves of Andong (Cordyline Fruticosa) with alcohol solvent can be used as an alternative dye for the examination of intestinal nematode worm eggs.

AbstractAndong leaf is one of the traditional medicinal plants that is proven to have various properties including as a (natural) medicinal ingredient. Andong plants contain several chemical compounds including saponins, tannins, flavonoids, polyphenols, steroids. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of red andong leaf extract (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A. Cheval) as a radical scavenging antioxidant for DPPH. In this study red andong leaves (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A. Cheval) were extracted using maceration method with 70% ethanol as solvent. The results showed that anthocyanins were cyanidin. Antioxidant activity was measured by reducing DPPH free radicals with UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 517 nm. The results showed that red andong red leaf extract had strong antioxidant potential with an IC50 value of 64.5197 g/mL against free radicals DPPH and vitamin C as a comparison showed a very strong antioxidant potential with an IC50 value of 2.12 g/mL.Keywords : Andong leaf, antioxidant, DPPH AbstrakDaun andong merupakan salah satu tanaman obat tradisional yang terbukti memiliki berbagai khasiat diantaranya sebagai bahan obat (alami). Tanaman andong mengandung beberapa senyawa kimia diantaranya yaitu saponin, tanin, flavonoid, polifenol, Steroida. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi  ekstrak daun andong merah (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A. Cheval) sebagai antioksidan penangkal  radikal DPPH. Pada penelitian ini daun andong merah (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A. Cheval) diekstraksi dengan menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 70%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  antosianin jenis  sianidin. Aktivitas antioksidan diukur melalui peredaman radikal bebas DPPH dengan spektrofotometri UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak daun andong merah   memiliki potensi  antioksidan  kuat dengan nilai IC50 64.5197 µg/mL terhadap radikal bebas  DPPH dan vitamin C sebagai pembanding menunjukkan potensi antioksidan sangat kuat dengan nilai  IC50 2.12 µg/mL.Kata Kunci : Daun andong merah, antioksidan, DPPH

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of cordyline fruticose leaves in reducing total cholesterol levels of male white rats. This study used 30 male white rats which were divided into 6 treatment groups, each groups consistent of 5 test animals. Group I was normal control, group II was negative control (High cholesterol died and streptozotocin 30 mg/kgBW, group III was positive control (Simvastatin suspension), group IV, V, VI were each given an ethanol extract of cordyline fruticose leaves at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 150 mg/kgBW and 200 mg/kgBW for 14 consecutive days. Measurements of analyzed using a one-way statistical test (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level and continued with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test to analyze differences between the groups. The result showed that the ethanol extract of cordyline fruticose leaves at a dose 200 mg/kgBW was able to reduce total cholesterol levels in white rats with cholesterol level of 39 mg/dL. The purposed of research was to evaluate the ability of Andong leaf extract as natural antimicrobial against pathogenic bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila. The plant was collected from yards at Kasuang Village, Tondano Disctrict of Minahasa Regency. After washing, the leaf was cut into small pieces, eased using a mortar and then extracted by maceration using alcohol 75% for 24 hours with ratio between simplicia and solvent was 1:1, 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8.  Antimicrobial activity of the extract was examined through disc diffusion method. The results showed that leaf extract of andong was able to inhibit the growth of bacteria  with strong and the sensitivity of the extract was categorized as strong.
