Though Rupert Brooke’s “The Soldier” has often been interpreted, categorized or dismissed as a poem on idealized patriotism, its underlying nationalistic and colonialist/imperialist dimensions have not been duly treated alongside its patriotic dimension. Since the 1980s, there has been a resurgence of interest in such interrelated themes as patriotism, nationalism, and postcolonialism due to the engagement of some political, philosophical, and literary theorists with a wide range of conceptual and moral debates. The purpose of this paper is to re-examine Brooke’s poem in greater detail and, consequently, to update the previous research on this poem in light of these debates. The main thesis of the paper is that Brook’s “The Soldier” is a multifaceted poem which has a variety of different features which can be interpreted on various levels, namely patriotism, nationalism, and colonialism/imperialism.

This article discusses the philosophy of Alain Badiou from the perspective of a formulation that we believe represents it succinctly: the dialectic of formalization. The main thesis of the article is that Badiou’s doctrine of the four truth procedures (politics, science, love, and art) can be understood as a doctrine of a dialectical realization of new and universal forms in the world. The dialectic of formalization announces a double procedure – an autonomous and creative procedure for the production of a new true form in the world and a process of the formation of continuity in discontinuity. Moreover, the dialectic of formalization represents a connection between Badiou’s mature work and his early writings from the late 1960s. Even though in the 1960s and 1970s Badiou had not yet introduced the concepts of subject and truth in the sense that he understands them today, it is possible to support the thesis that there is an indisputable connection between Badiou’s early concept of formalization and his later concept of generic truth procedure. We will try to show that the dialectic of formalization (Badiou’s own formulation) designates the continuity between Badiou’s early and mature work.

The main thesis put forward in this article is the question of folk linguistic view of Mazur in the examples of Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian folklore. The question are analyzed on the basis of folklore materials: anectodes, traditional oral folk stories, adages and fairy tales. The research method is based on Bartminski’s and J. Matskevichsconcept of linguistic worldview. Linguistic worldview is understood as a kind of interpretation of reality and group of ideas reflected in language. Folklore is understood as reflection of popular worldview, system of beliefs and ethnic stereotypes. This article focus on a reconstruction of Mazurs linguistic creation, and also try to define his role in Slavic folk linguistic view.

The main thesis of this paper is directed against the traditional (cognitivetheoretical) definition of the concept which claims that the concept is the '' thought about the essence of the object being thought'', i.e. that it is “a set of essential features or essential characteristics of an object''. But the '' set of essential features or essential characteristics of an object of thought'' is a '' content’’ of the thought. The thought about the essence of an object is definition and the concept is not definition but the part of definition! Besides as the part of formal structure of thought, the concept possesses calculative logical properties that in formal logic (be it syllogistics, or the logic of propositions, or the logic of predicates) come to the front place of formal logical computation. Without the calculative properties of the concept, there would be no calculative properties of propositions which express the thought (thought structures). The calculative properties of a concept include the (1) degree of its logical generality (degree of variability), the (2) logical relations it can establish within the whole of the conceptual content, the (3) operability of the concept in structure of affirmation and negation, the (4) deducibility of either axiomatic or probabilistic systems. Therefore, I believe that, from the logical point of view, the definition of a concept should be applied in favor of its calculative properties that it possesses.

In this paper, the author will try to present Hayek 's understanding of law in a concise way, with reference to all institutions and processes related to such a topic, through the analysis of Hayek's works as well as the analysis of the critique of his understandings. First of all, his evolutionary approach will be explained, which enables the processes in a society to be viewed analogously to natural processes. Further, the main thesis of Hayek's theory will be elaborated, that is the connection between the market and common law in the embodiment of the spontaneous order on the one hand, and the made order which Hayek calls "taxis" on the other hand. Additionally, Hayek's understanding of the purpose and character of law as well as his understanding of the law, as well as his distinction between the law of freedom and the law of coercion, i.e. between "nomos" and "thesis". Finally, this paper attempt to represent the Hayek's detailed inquiry into human behaviour, the limitations of human possibilities as well as the misconceptions that have ruled for centuries which stem from the belief in the unlimited powers of science.

ANOVA---the workhorse of experimental psychology--seems well understood in that behavioral sciences have agreed-upon contrasts and reporting conventions. Yet, we argue this consensus hides considerable flaws in common ANOVA procedures, and these flaws become especially salient in the within-subject and mixed-model cases. The main thesis is that these flaws are in model specification. The specifications underlying common use are deficient from a substantive perspective, that is, they do not match reality in behavioral experiments. The problem, in particular, is that specifications rely on coincidental rather than robust statements about reality. We provide specifications that avoid making arguments based on coincidences, and note these Bayes factor model comparisons among these specifications are already convenient in the BayesFactor package. Finally, we argue that model specification necessarily and critically reflects substantive concerns, and, consequently, is ultimately the responsibility of substantive researchers. Chapter 7 examines the psychology of the virtue that moral education is designed to produce, as well as the psychology of civic unity that Socrates’ social, political, and economic policies for the Kallipolis are designed to foster. The main thesis is that at both the intrapsychic and the interpersonal levels, Plato’s proposals are designed to exploit the two primitive faces of spirited motivation: its aggression toward the allotrion, and its fondness, protectiveness, and friendship toward the oikeion. His educational program produces psychic harmony in large part by making correct reason “familiar” to spirit and vicious appetites “foreign” to it, and his policies on family and private property promote political harmony by instilling emotional bonds of familiarity and friendship among citizens.

Alpinist expedition to the Nanda Devi was the first Polish successfully ended hiking in the Himalaya. Nanda Devi was a very tough challenge for Polish team but after many dangerous situations they finally reached the peak. As a next step alpinists wanted to reach Tirsuli peak. Unluckily, two of the expeditors were buried in an avalanche on the slopes of a glacier. Janusz Klarner (the member of the Polish alpinists team) after few years wrote a book Nanda Devi which is based on his private expedition journal. The main thesis of the article is that reaching Nanda Devi was possible by the accurate speed of adaptation. The Himalaya was a completely different and unknown place for Polish alpinists. Alpinists were forced to various adaptations in many different situations. In the article author analyses emerging changes and adaptations. Among them are symbolic, cultural, technical and axiological adaptations. Using Deleuze's findings from Bergsonizm, the author recognizes that the capacity for appropriately dynamic adaptation is the result of an appropriate arrangement occurring at a point in time. To sum up, an author considers various connections between cultural patterns, personal causality and environmental considerations.

The article deals with the issues of the functioning of enterprises in the conditions of crisis. It presents the specifics of crisis management and proposals for remedial actions that should be considered by companies affected by the crisis. The main thesis of the article is that company management in crisis situations is based on a combination of reactive and prospective decisions taken in order to counteract the destabilization of its functions. The research problem boils down to answering the question: whether and to what extent, in the face of the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, are micro and small enterprises inclined to make quick prospective decisions? For the purposes of this article, a survey method was carried out, which enabled the implementation of the main goal of the article, which was to identify and assess the usefulness of actions taken and solutions implemented by the surveyed entities in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic. The adopted research hypothesis assumes that micro and small enterprises, in the face of a pandemic, make quick, prospective decisions to a limited extent.
