Nowadays the search for new forms of energy generation is one of the great challenges of humanity. Decentralized energy production as well as material recycling, in order to obtain low-cost environmental gains, are extremely important points, as they are issues that must be evaluated in parallel with sustainable development, being extremely discussed and disseminated for their relevance and importance, since the main focus certainly corresponds the environmental preservation of the planet. In view of this theme, in the present work, a prototype was built using Tesla turbine and a dynamo couplet, aiming at the decentralized energy generation model, for the recharge of lead-acid batteries concomitantly with the challenge of reaching an innovative and unprecedented device with economic and environmental gains. The developed system was made and structured from the manufacture of various accessories obtained from recyclable materials attached to its structure, through the improvement of the physical model during its manufacture until the performance of experimental tests investigating its functionality. The results show that the projected system responded significantly to what was proposed, where the dynamo generated current for the system, providing 12 V in the physical model, recharging the battery. In view of the results obtained, it is believed that the prototype has great potential, in a characteristic line and direction, where with the improvement of the structure and diversification of components it is possible to become a new proposal, that is, an innovative device that meets expectations at an affordable price, being a decentralized model of energy generation and environmentally friendly.

Building activity is a significant source of atmospheric contamination by ultrafine dust. Cognizant of this fact, those active in the use and recycling of construction materials must be aware of the risks associated with exposure to nanoparticles (NPs) and ultra-fine particles (UFPs), as well as the associated health impacts. This work analyzed NPs and UFPs generated in a small building-material recycling company using high-resolution electron microscopes and X-ray Diffraction. A self-made passive sampler (LSPS) that can obtain particulate samples without physical and morphological changes, especially where there is a suspension of particulate material, was used in this study. A total of 96 particulate samples, using the LSPS for three months in four seasons, were collected during the study. Thus, the dry deposition of the particles, which are considered highly harmful to human health, was found in each of the four seasons of the year. It is suggested that for future research, the toxicological evaluations of the particulates in the construction industry should be investigated through the consideration of measures to control and mitigate the health risks of workers regarding exposure to NPs and UFPs.

The dynamic between indigenous descendant communities, archaeologists, and other heritage professionals in Mexico and Central America embodies a distinct regional history of relations between native peoples and the state. In contrast to the United States and other regions, where indigenous polities have a history of legal sovereignty, the legacy of Spanish colonialism has created few parallel avenues for native Mesoamericans. Linguistic, cosmological, and social continuities between living and ancient indigenous populations have long been an emphasis of Mesoamericanist anthropology. Nevertheless, laws for the management of heritage in those countries often marginalize descendant communities from the use and stewardship of the material traces left behind by their ancestors. The ethical dimensions of this dynamic are further complicated by the fact that many activities that are criminalized by existing heritage laws are, in fact, consistent with long-standing traditions of landscape use and material recycling in these societies. Lacking the sovereignty principle that shapes interactions between indigenous communities and archaeologists in the United States, a more inclusive practice of heritage in Mesoamerica involves new kinds of pragmatic dialogue and accommodation.

The manufacturing industry in the Nordic countries aims to include closing product and material loops to recover values in their circular economy strategies. Recirculating strategies for products and materials are required for existing products that are part of the stock and are also anticipated to be aligned with products designed for circularity and circular business models in the future. Options to capture value of discarded products are diverse and include reuse, remanufacturing and material recycling. The Circular Economy Integration in the Nordic Industry for enhanced sustainability and competitiveness (CIRCit) project developed a framework to guide decision makers in the industry on how to identify suitable treatments and subsequent use at the end of use or end of life of a product and how to select among different options. Factors considered in the assessment include technical feasibility, necessary efforts, networks of business partners, legal implications and overall sustainability aspects. Our empirical studies show great support for decision-makers in the value recovery of different products with different complexity levels. It is also concluded that the properties of products at their end of use are the main drivers behind selecting a proper recirculation strategy. This study contributes with an empirical evaluation and a consistent terminology framework for recirculation options. The general setup is relevant for the Nordic countries.

Abstract Lithium-ion traction batteries are increasingly use in transportation such as electric vehicles and buses. In order to reduce the life cycle cost of traction battery, material recycling is a technical route that must be considered. Deep-discharge is one of the necessary steps in the process of battery disassembly and material recycle, but the thermal stability and internal material changes caused by deep discharge will affect the subsequent recycle processes. In this paper, we study the influence of deep-discharge rate on recycle process of a commercial traction battery with LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 cathode and graphite anode. Combine with multi-analysis methods, the evolution of an electrode structure under different deep-discharge current densities is systematically studied. The results show that the deep-discharge current density will have different effects on the internal structure of the battery and will affect its thermal safety.

The necessity for recycling of wastes has increased nowadays and there are various solutions according to the types of wastes which are presented accordingly. By observing these solutions, the recycling system from the waste collection and separation system of the long-term disappearing of polymer waste to the additive manufacturing design stage has been indicated. Waste collection and separation systems have been reviewed and systems to be used effectively in the systematic way have been exemplified. Among four different separating systems which are with rotating, rail and fixed containers, fixed container four-sorting waste separation systems were chosen and developed as a mechatronic system design. The mechatronic system design is very prominent in order to create efficient and economical mechanisms in fixed-container four-sorting waste separation collection system (FCWS) applications. In addition, physical mechatronic system design (MSD), mechanical design, material selection, electrical electronic design sub-heading and cost analysis were made. In this study, the necessity and importance of the waste separation plants are revealed
