Natural dimension stone processing generates large volumes of stone waste, which have a significant impact on the environment, as well as on the efficiency and profitability of the stone-processing plant. The article presents the characteristics of waste produced as a result of natural dimension stone processing and the structure of the waste production process. Solid stone scraps and sludge were distinguished. On the basis of the performed analyses, it was shown that stone waste constitutes 10–35% in relation to the quantity of the processed stone material, with the quantity of sludge being even threefold greater than the volume of solid scraps. According to the circular economy principles, the aim should be to reduce the amount of waste generated by reducing primary resources in favour of secondary material. Reducing the volume of stone waste is possible through rational planning of stone production while at the same time maximising the efficiency of stone material usage and introducing the most modern processing machines. This significant volume of stone waste encourages efforts to find solutions for both its management and reduction. This paper reviews the utility potential of stone waste. Sensible use of waste is important to increase the profitability and productivity of processing plants while incentivising environmental protection.

The article discusses the importance of strength training in the training process and its impact on the technical skills of athletes. The use of strength exercises during training sessions and rational planning of strength training in the training process are considered. Practical and methodological recommendations are given on the use of various strength physical exercises to improve the technique of basic competitive movements. Examples of the use of various physical loads during certain exercises in order to improve the technical readiness of athletes are shown.

Two plans were used: classical and factorial (rational) during experimental research. Classical plan is used when the number of external independent factors is not more than two. Increasing number of external factors leads to using of rational experiment planning which allows to significantly reduce the number of combinations of these factors. For example, with four external factors that change at four levels according to the classical plan number of combinations 44=256. Rational planning of the experiment reduces number of these combinations to 16. To process results of the factorial experiment using two methods proposed by M. M. Protodiakonov and R. S. Yaremiychuk. The article presents a step-by-step method of processing the results of a factorial experiment with an example of simultaneous use of these methods. Comparing the results of processing, the authors believe that the best results are obtained using the Protodiakonov’s method. The authors tested two types of multifactorial empirical model of multiple correlation, one of which is given by the product of partial empirical dependences, the second – by the sum. Using these models there were found that the results of factor experiment processing should be represented by a multifactor empirical model, which is presented by the product of partial empirical dependences.

Anti-cancer treatments (surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) lead to numerous sequelae and side effects, unpleasant or even disabling in the oral cavity. In the absence of appropriate dental care, the consequences can be highly detrimental. The side effects of radiotherapy, the loss of substances following often associated surgical interventions and the unfavorable context of these patients require rational planning and consultation approved by the various practionners. The management of patients before, during and after these anticancer treatments by the specialist in maxillofacial prosthesis is important, in fact the objectives outlined to be achieved in terms of the management of PMF are: restoration of orofacial functions, participation in the proper conduct of anticancer treatment, palliation of its complications and psychological support for these patients. The aim of this article is to review the various complications of radiotherapy, as well as the protocols and recommendations for the management of patients before radiotherapy and to highlight the role of the specialist in maxillofacial prosthodontics in this management.

In practice, the process of transportation planning is shaped by more than technical factors. This paper analyzes how different factors (demand, local conditions, financial, social, and political) have influenced all of the rapid transit projects in Ecuador over the past three decades by evaluating their relative significance on each system component (alignment, size, and technology). This research uses a multiple-case methodology including in-depth interviews with the senior members of the technical teams, as well as a survey component based on the analytic hierarchy process for quantification of the relative significance of the factors. The comparative analysis of projects shows five key results: (1) Each project was unique and external factors introduced a varying degree of complexity into each planning process; (2) The systems’ alignments and sizes were mostly driven by demand and local conditions (rational planning process); (3) The main factor driving technology selection has evolved over time from system demand to political (political bargaining approach); (4) Negative economic conditions had a large influence on the factors of all project components; (5) There is a lack of rational alternative evaluation and an absence of corresponding tools/guidelines in Ecuador. Nonetheless, several processes included practices that contributed to a more rational planning process: lifecycle cost analysis for the various technology alternatives, explicit decision-maker guidelines, transferring the demand risk to the private sector, and the use of multicriteria decision analysis. Implications for future planning efforts are discussed.

Hong Kong's public health services gradually developed since the 1950s. They are mainly funded by taxes, supplemented by minimal user fees. In the late 1980s, the government recognized the limitations of this financing model and has subsequently proposed alternative methods of funding. Their proposals have been rejected by various stakeholders, who represent different, and even conflicting, values and interests; and eventually can only end up with a limited voluntary health insurance scheme. This chapter describes the development of health services and the debates that have surrounded health financing since the late 1980s. It shows that the health finance debate in Hong Kong is not a simple issue that can be tackled by rational planning; instead, it is a complex consequence of welfare politics in an increasingly mobilized society.
