Absenteeism is an act of being excessively away from educational institute which is a major indiscipline problem among students globally. Descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Data was collected by using by self-administered questionnaire from nursing students of 13 nursing colleges offering 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in Punjab province of Pakistan after taking care of all the ethical considerations. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select 130 participants from nursing institutes offering 4 year BSN program. Most influential factors for absenteeism identified were ‘not joined nursing studies as per choice’ (mean=3.77), ‘awaking up late for college’ (mean=3.62), ‘impending assignments’ (mean=3.),‘feel bored with certain subjects’ (mean=3.46),‘when teachers teaching skills are not up to mark’ (mean=3.67), ‘Lack of proper guidance in clinical area’ (mean=3.94), ‘shortage of staff in clinical area’ (mean=3.88), ‘Not want to be treated as workforce in clinical area’ (mean=3.82) very exhaustive and rigid or irregular timetable’ (mean=3.81). Nursing student’s absenteeism is interplay of multiple modifiable factors. Hence, necessary steps may be taken to overcome these modifiable factors to improve the quality of nursing education.

Management is a process of planning, decision making, organizing, leading, motivating and controlling, and an effective utilization of the resources to reach the organizational goals efficiently and effectively. Management has a crucial role in quality of work and production in any institutions. Although a rapid increase of Nursing Education Institutions in Nepal since last decade which had been trained thousands of nursing cadres, the management aspects of these institutions are not studied adequately. Thus current study intended to explore the current status of Nursing Education Institution Management as experienced and perceived by the bachelors nursing students. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among the nursing institutions in Kathmandu valley. Of the total 28 in the valley, 14 were selected purposively. From the selected institutions, all 377 eligible students currently in final year of study were selected. Among them, 208were from BSN and 169 were from B Sc program.  The data was collected through the self administered structured questioners after taking informed consent. Data entry and analysis was done in SPSS version 16 software. The findings of the study show that 70% students were satisfied in institutional management (mean59.62, SD ± 3.66). In academic management (78%), (mean139.82, SD ± 6.22), followed by human resources 67%, (mean43.54, SD ± 2.79) and were in physical resources management 75% students were satisfied (mean45.02, SD ± 3.08). Analysis of variations between group (administrators, faculties, students) found statistical significance (p value <0.05). So it is concluded the perception of students, faculties and administrator were different on managing the nursing education.

The clinical competence of nursing students in operating room (OR) is an important issue in nursing education. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian Perceived Perioperative Competence Scale–Revised (PPCS-R) instrument. This cross-sectional study was conducted across 12 universities in Iran. The psychometric properties and factor structure of the PPCS-R for OR students was examined. Based on the results of factor analysis, seven items were removed from the original version of the scale. The fitness indices of the Persian scale include comparative fit index (CFI) 5 .90, goodness-of-fit-index (GFI) 5 .86, adjusted goodness-of-fit index (AGFI) 5 .90, normed fit index (NFI) 5 .84, and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) 5 .04. High validity and reliability indicated the scale’s value for measuring perceived perioperative competence of Iranian OR students.

AbstractBackgroundIncivility in nursing education can negatively affect the academic achievement. As there is no tool in Arabic to assess incivility among nursing students, there is a need for a valid and reliable tool.PurposeThis study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the Incivility in Nursing Education- Revised (INE-R) survey.MethodThis cross-sectional study was conducted in four universities in Iraq using a convenience sampling strategy. A translated Arabic version of the INE-R was used to assess its validity and reliability.ResultsThree hundred eighty-nine surveys were included in the analysis. The contrast validity was confirmed by using Exploratory Factor Analysis. The internal consistency was tested using Cronbach’s alpha, which showed the result of 0.87.ConclusionThe Arabic version of the Incivility in Nursing Education- Revised is a valid and reliable scale. This scale can be used in Arab countries to assess incivility in nursing education.

Background: Education is the most hopeful discipline which provide pathway for a purposeful and productive life. The progress in any filed is achieved through education. Education is a complex process. Academic failure is the one of the main challenges which students face during academic years. Current study was conducted to identify the causes of academic failure among the nursing students and determine the correlation between these causes. Materials and Methods: A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study design used to explore the causes of academic failure among the nursing students and correlation between these variables. A convenient sampling technique use to collect the data. Questionnaire distributed in 134 participants. SPSS version 24 was used for data analysis. Results: The mean score of question related to teacher behavior was 2.62 and the overall mean score was 2.62 ± 0.20. Lack of commitment to study was 2.23 and the overall mean score was 2.23 ± 0.22. Problem with learning environment mean 2.61 and the overall mean score 2.61 ± 0.26. The mean score of courses content and examination problem 2.52 and the overall mean score was 2.52 ± 0.32. The unsatisfying relation with family mean score 3.27 and the overall mean score was 3.27 ± 0.30. The future concerns related chosen field mean score was 2.64 and the overall mean score was 2.64 ± 0.20. Conclusion: Causes of student’s failure are the unsatisfied relation with the family and psychological problems of the students. There was positive correlation between all variables except the unsatisfied relation with family and future related concern to the chosen field of study.

Introduction:Insufficient research has been conducted into the factors that prompt young students to select nursing education as a profession in Saudi Arabia.Aim:The aim of the study is to identify factors affecting students' preference for nursing education and their intent to leave.Methods:This study follows a descriptive cross-sectional research design, with data collected by adapting the Tan-Kuick questionnaire to measure second-year nursing students’ (n=162) preference for nursing education and intent to leave one academic institution in Saudi Arabia.Results:Nursing image is identified as the major factor influencing the nursing students’ preference for nursing education in Saudi Arabia (69.89 ± 16.49), and parents' image of nursing is identified as the factor with the least amount of influence (34.52 ± 22.04). Additionally, more than half of the nursing students surveyed report intending to leave the nursing profession. Regarding the reasons for their intent to leave, a total of 70% of the surveyed nursing students report having no interest in the nursing profession. Family disagreement and societal image are also identified as common prompts to leave nursing.Conclusion:The study recommends the use of media to enhance the image of the nursing profession through the presentation of role models that talk to the students and encourage and motivate them to engage in the working life of a nurse. In addition, the study suggests replicating the longitudinal study for the same group in their third and fourth year of study to see if they leave the nursing profession.

ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Sikap caring adalah salah satu identitas profesi keperawatan yang berusaha ditanamkan oleh institusi pendidikan keperawatan melalui proses sosialisasi profesi. Namun, pada kenyataannya ditemukan sikap mahasiswa yang tidak menunjukkan sikap caring. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu ada atau tidaknya hubungan antara sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring mahasiswa. Landasan teori yang dipakai adalah model sosialisasi profesi Hinshaw dan Theory of Caring Swanson. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif, menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 45 mahasiswa angkatan 2011 Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas x. Sample diambil menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan chi-square. Hasil: Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian menunjukan nilai signifikansi hubungan sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring sebesar 0,019. Uji korelasi sosialisasi profesi dengan setiap kategori caring Swanson menunjukkan hubungan dua sub variabel caring yaitu “knowing” (p value = 0,001) dan “being with” (p value = 0,04) sebagai dua komponen yang sangat dipengaruhi oleh proses sosialisasi profesi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring mahasiswa. Diskusi: Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar penelitian selanjutnya dapat mengobservasi perilaku caring mahasiswa sehingga hasil yang didapatkan lebih akurat. The process begin since the students entering the faculty and improving as the time goes by. However, in reality, there are students who do not show caring attitude. The aim of this study was to find out if there is a correlation between professional socialization and caring attitude. Theoretical basis used is a model professional socialization Hinshaw and Swanson’s Caring theory. Method: The study used quantitative method with cross-sectional design. The population was 45 batch 2011 nursing students of Faculty of Nursing, University of x, using total sampling technique. The data analyzed using chi-square. Result: The significancy result of the correlation test between professional socialization and caring attitude is 0,019. The study also found that two sub variables of caring that are correlated with professional socialization are “knowing” (p value= 0,001) and “being with” (p value = 0,04). The results of this study indicate that there is significant relationship between professional socialization and sudent’s caring attitude. Discussion: This research recommends that further research can observe nursing student’s caring behavior in order to obtain more accurate results. Background: Early Clinical Exposure is a learning approach that integrates classroom learning with the clinical practice at the students' academic stage. Based on an interview with 3rd-semester Nursing Students, the results showed that they had low self-efficacy and readiness towards early clinical exposure. Objective: This study aims to evaluate self-efficacy and readiness towards early clinical exposure among nursing students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP). The study design was a cross-sectional study involving 218 undergraduate students at a private Islamic university in their third semester. Methods: Data were collected using an online questionnaire of Google Form developed by the researcher, and the questions were valid and reliable based on a reliability test. The sampling method in this study was the total sampling technique. There were 50 questions of the item in the questionnaire and 6 items for demographic data. Result: The majority of pupils showed strong self-efficacy (98.2%) according to the findings of this study and moderate self-efficacy (1.8%). The majority of students presented high readiness (97.7%) and moderate readiness (2.3%). According to the correlation test results, a correlation (r = 0.545, p0.05) was found between self-efficacy and readiness for early clinical exposure. Conclusion: The higher the student's self-efficacy is, the more the readiness will be to face the practice of early clinical exposure.

Traditionally, Nursing students study human bioscience e.g. pathophysiology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology in their first and second year course. Nursing students are facing difficulties with bioscience learning. Hence, it’s essential for nursing students to keep in mind that bioscience understanding  is very important throughout the research, and clinical practice. The PURPOSE of this study was to assess BSN students’ experiences regarding bioscience subject’s background and nursing education. A cross-sectional analytic study was done among 183 BSN (Generic) students February 2018 to May 2018. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect the required sample size. Data on individual characteristics of Bioscience learning experiences was collected by distributing semi-structured questionnaire. Statistical tool SPSS 21.0 was used for the analysis of collected data. Person correlation test used to determine the relationship between variables. In this study majority of BSN (Generic) students were considered bioscience subjects more challenging and time consuming. About 45.36% participants were agreed with there is more content required for bioscience compared with nursing subjects. BSN students (59.56%) were reported that bioscience related to nursing practice to gain better understanding for assessment. Majority of participants were reported that bioscience subjects more difficult as compared to nursing subjects. Bioscience relationship with nursing practices significantly correlated with clinical-relevant employment. In this type of research the area of improvement have been reviewed further knowledge available for those who will conduct the research on this topic in future.Int. J. Soc. Sc. Manage. AbstractDuring nursing education, nursing students are required to develop their competence to be able to fulfill their duties safely as Registered Nurses. The aims of this study were to explore 1) nursing students’ self-assessed competence levels during education 2) the relationship with competence and frequency at which competencies are utilized in clinical practice, and 3) factors related to competence levels. 841 (response rate 67.6 %) nursing students responded to the Nurse Competence Scale in a cross-sectional study. The self-assessed overall competence levels were improving during the education continuum (VAS-means 1st 56.6; 2nd 58.3; 3rd 59.8 and 3.5th -year students 68.4). Every group revealed a significant positive correlation with competence and frequency at which competencies are utilized in clinical practice in clinical placement. Risk factors for low competence were also identified. Systematic multimethod competence evaluations with longitudinal designs are needed to monitor outcomes of nursing education.

Nursing training is a blend of both theoretical and practical learning.  Students learn practically in the clinical environment. Despite the progression in nursing education, in some clinical settings, the effective teaching behavior of clinical instructors is absent that affects student learning. The aim of this study is to assess nursing students' perception of a good clinical preceptor. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used for the study. Data were collected from all 4th year nursing students (n=130) in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences, Alzaiem Alazhari University (AAU). The result shows that 68 out of 130 (52.3%) nursing students considered teaching ability as very important followed by competencies 57 (43.8%).
