In this study, the Taguchi experimental design method using an L16 orthogonal array was attempted in order to investigate the optimal operating conditions for the CO2 methanation process in Ni-based catalysts. The relative influence of the main factors affecting CO2 conversion and CH4 yield was ranked as follows: reactor pressure > space velocity > reaction temperature. The optimal combination of operating conditions was a reactor temperature of 315 °C, a pressure of 19 bar, and a space velocity of 6000 h−1. The effect of the H2/CO2 ratio on CO2 conversion and CH4 yield was further considered under these optimal operating conditions. Moreover, the catalyst was characterized in order to investigate the production of coke through Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The amount of coke produced after the reaction for approximately 24 h was ~2 wt.%. Therefore, the desired CH4 yield and long-term operational stability were successfully obtained using the Taguchi design method and catalyst characterization.

In the present study, palm fiber (PF) and palm fronds (PFN) were selected as local agricultural wastes for the extraction of different biopolymers (cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin) by alkaline sodium hydroxide (PF, 2.37% NaOH at 86.5 °C for 1.6 h; PFN, 6% NaOH at 90 °C for 1 h) and bioethanol production. The processes of extraction were optimized by the experimental design method of Taguchi. The total carbohydrates of PF and PFN obtained were 24.4% and 31.0%, respectively. In addition, the untreated palm fiber (UPF), untreated palm frond (UPFN), cellulose palm fibers (CPF), and cellulose palm fronds (CPFN) were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis processes using crude enzymes and commercial enzymes at 48 °C and pH 5.5. The results indicate that the maximum reducing sugars used were CPF 229.90, CPFN 243.69, UPF 120.19, and UPFN 100.00 (mg/g), which were obtained at a crude enzyme loading. CPF and CPFN hydrolysates were then successfully converted into bioethanol by a separate enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Anaerobic cultivation of the hydrolysates with S.cerevisiae resulted in 0.222 g/g and 0.213 g/g bioethanol in the case of CPF and CPFN, respectively. Optimization processes could be an innovative approach to the sustainable development of bioethanol production.

This research aims to compare educational games and virtual animations to mathematics learning outcomes in terms of student activity. The research was conducted in the fourth grade of SDN Jatirangga I Bekasi. The sampling technique used cluster sampling technique. The method used is a quasi-experimental design method. Furthermore, the normality and homogeneity prerequisite tests were carried out to show the normal and homogeneous data groups. After that, hypothesis testing using two-way ANNAVA obtained interaction t count (I) = 4.03 at the significance level of 0.05 t table = 3.96 because tcount> ttable then Ho was rejected. Thus, it means is an interaction between learning media and student activity towards mathematics learning outcomes. Because there is an interaction, Tukey's further test is carried out which gets the first result, namely Qcount = 4.85 while at α 0.05 dbv1 = 4 and dbv2 = 20 indicates Q table = 3.96. because Qcount> Qtable then Ho is rejected, it can be concluded that there are differences in mathematics learning outcomes using educational games and virtual animation on the low category of student activity. The second Tukey test shows the results, namely Qcount = 0.84 and Qtable = 3.96. It is concluded that by 0.84 <3.96 or Qcount <Qtable then Ho is accepted, it can be concluded that there is no difference in learning outcomes of mathematics using educational games and virtual animation on high category student activity.

This study aims to determine the impact of phonological instruction interventions on dyslexic students in elementary schools. We tested the effect of phonological instruction on phonological awareness, reading and spelling skills in 4 subjects who had almost similar reading difficulties at different grade levels.   This study used an experimental design method single subject research (SSR). The SSR design used is the A-B-A design which consists of three stages of conditions, namely: A-1 (baseline 1), B (intervention), A-2 (baseline 2). Tests given to measure baseline and intervention results of phonology awareness tests, reading tests and spelling tests. Measurement of ability at the baseline was given as many as 4 sessions while the intervention for 12 sessions. The results showed that phonological instruction had an effect on increasing phonological awareness, reading and spelling skills. The significant effect of phonological instruction interventions suggests that understanding phonological principles is beneficial for students with dyslexia.

Abstract Bolted connections are widely used in the machine tool manufacturing and equipment. As it is well known, bolt preload will be attenuated by the vibration of machine tools, which will degenerate the working life of machine tools. In this paper, a new experimental design method is introduced into the study on bolt preload attenuation: the quadratic general rotary unitized design. The dynamic analysis of the bolted connection is carried out based on a finely fragmented numerical model to interpret the generation of fretting slip and the reason for the loosening of bolts. The alternating load cyclic vibration test, implemented on the bolted joints, can provide the vibration response under the influence of different working factors. Statistical test and analysis are performed on the quadratic regression mathematical model of the bolt preload attenuation, and the principal working factor that affecting the bolt preload attenuation under vibration can be obtained. Based on the analytical result, the combination of the working factors at the lowest bolt preload attenuation rate, which can effectively slow the bolt looseness, is investigated. The results of this study can provide an experimental basis for improving the machining stiffness of machine tools.
