It is a well-established fact that the quality and quantity of landfill gas (LFG) start declining after a landfill is closed to further waste intake. Conventional gas treatment and utilisation systems such as flares and gas-driven engines require a certain quality of LFG: specifically, a sufficient methane concentration. Various measures are utilised to maintain the necessary quality of LFG, including a turn-down of gas extraction rates and a shutdown of low-quality gas wells, resulting in a decline of LFG production. This, however, does not have to be the case. The low calorific value (LCV) LFG capture and treatment technology developed by e-flox and referred to in this article as ‘LCV LFG System’ can significantly increase the collection rate and the amount of treated methane in an old landfill. This article introduces such new treatment measures, describes gas capture calculation methodologies and presents actual results based on a medium-sized landfill in Germany. The study demonstrates, among other things, that the LCV LFG system can reduce the CO2 avoidance costs to roughly 10 €/tCO2eq. We present this new technology as a quick and straightforward measure of dealing with the climate issues related to methane emissions of old landfills.

Currently, several studies have been conducted about overspending of funds in large-scale projects, including transport. International studies show that overspending by 20–100 % is not an exception, but an established fact. The article presents the results of comparing the estimated cost with the actual costs for several large-scale transport projects that were implemented on the territory of Russia. The conclusion is made about the need for a systematic analysis when evaluating the effectiveness of projects of this class.

Aims: The purpose of this study was to examine level of awareness about proper disposal of unused medicine. It is a growing problem. People directly dispose unused medicines into waste or flush into sink. Finally, these improperly disposed medicines mix with wastewater leach out into sea water, ground water, drinking water and effect human and other forms of life and develop microbial resistance and accidental poising and various societal repercussion. Confusion exists in people about proper disposal of unused medicine. Despite of already available guidelines people very rarely follow proper disposal methods. Particularly in developing countries situation is very alarming. It is well established fact that knowledge and level of awareness play pivotal role for practice of proper disposal methods. Study Design: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study. Methodology: This study was conducted in Nawab Shah and its vicinities: Sakrand, Kaziahamed, Bachalpur, during September 2019 to May 2020. The number of participants were included in the study according Slovin's Formula. The simple random sampling method was used to select participants. The level of awareness about proper disposal of unused medicine of 400 participants was assessed through a well-designed questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed to the participants at their homes with the help of volunteers. The descriptive statistics were analyzed through latest version of MS excel 2016. Results: Out of 400, 320 (80%) of the participants admitted have no knowledge for proper disposal of unused medicines. 185 (46.25%) of the participants viewed throwing unused medicines into waste was correct. Whereas 176 (44%) of the participants believed improperly thrown medicines has no effect on environment. Conclusion: The level of knowledge about proper disposal of unused medicine was found very low in study participants. It is suggested government should incorporate guidelines about the harmful effects of improper disposal of unused medicines in curriculum at primary level of education.

It is an established fact that Pakistan is prone to disasters and damage caused by these disasters is immeasurable and varies with the geographical location, climate, and type of earth surface, geology and degree of vulnerability. The paper focus on underpinnings of flood response, however, emphasis  will be on role of Corps of Engineers (Army), Civil-Military coordination in 2010 Floods and prolonged employment of Army on such tasks. The main focus of this paper is on the existing role of military, their relationship with the civil set-up and the expectations of both the group from each other. Moreover, this paper also reviews about the existing frameworks and mechanisms of coordination between the two groups. The paper may help managers, policy makers and army engineers and government authorities to realistically evolve flood response, and decentralized mode of operation should be adapted from national to regional level in order to follow an integrated framework for bringing all stakeholders and victims together for developing an organized response system. However, the prolonged employment of Army on mitigation of disasters must be avoided.

Annotation. The prognostic criteria of complications of community-acquired pneumonia and the possibility of developing disorders of the hepatobiliary system (HBS) depending on the concentration in the serum of the secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI) were studied. The data of clinical and laboratory examination of 338 children with community-acquired pneumonia aged from one to three years were analyzed. Statistical processing of the results was performed using the system “IBM SPSS Statistica” 12 using parametric and non-parametric methods. It was found that in young children with pneumonia in the serum increases the concentration of SLPI, the level of which depends on the course and severity of pneumonia. It has been shown that the development of lobar pneumonia is significantly higher in patients from the SLPI cohort IV quartile (OR – 1.986, 95% CI – 1.864-2.356), compared with children from the cohort SLPI II and III quartile (OR – 0.476, 95% CI – 0.405- 0.559, OR – 0.494, 95% CI – 10.423-0.576, respectively). At the same time, at the values of SLPI at the level of III-IV quartile (OR – 1.923, 95% CI – 1.457-1.866) there is the development of community-acquired pneumonia. It was found that the development of pathological processes in the organs of HBS is associated with increased levels of SLPI. Thus, patients with polysegmental pneumonia and SLPI III/IV quartile (OR – 2.190, 95% CI – 1.810-2,754) are twice as likely to develop pathology of the hepatobiliary system than children with SLPI I/II quartile (OR – 1.153, 95% CI – 1.071-1.527). The established fact indicates the involvement of SLPI in the pathogenesis not only of pneumonia, but also in disorders of HBS.

Abstract It is an established fact that quantum coherences have thermodynamic value. The natural question arises, whether other genuine quantum properties such as entanglement can also be exploited to extract thermodynamic work. In the present analysis, we show that the ergotropy can be expressed as a function of the quantum mutual information, which demonstrates the contributions to the extractable work from classical and quantum correlations. More specifically, we analyze bipartite quantum systems with locally thermal states, such that the only contribution to the ergotropy originates in the correlations. Our findings are illustrated for a two-qubit system collectively coupled to a thermal bath.

The article is devoted to the consideration of the possibility of using fullerene-containing water as part of humic growth-stimulating preparations for agriculture with the addition of yeast production waste. More recently, the problems of the economy and the environment were perceived as opposite. Currently, there is a need for a mutually dependent and mutually beneficial combination of economic and environmental interests, which was the basis for this study. The analysis of the wastewater of the yeast-producing enterprise shows the presence of a large number of chemical and organic substances that pose a certain danger to the environment, but are useful after processing waste for use in agriculture. The largest number of substances is found in waste, after the stage of production of pure culture. The experiment shows that the use of structured water in combination with biologically active waste from the production of bread yeast obtained on the basis of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain increases the yield of grain crops. Based on the established fact of a wide and universal spectrum of biological activity of the water-carbon structure of hydrated fullerenes, according to patent and scientific and technical literature, they have not been widely tested as plant growth regulators. We will investigate the interaction of substances with water structured with fullerenes, the effect of surfactants on the formation and stability of emulsified humates with film-forming agents, the adhesive properties of the components, the effect of concentrated yeast fermentation liquid separated after the stage of growing a pure culture of baking yeast, the effect of both a fullerene-like structure – shungite of natural origin and hydrated fullerenes – highly stable finely dispersed aqueous solutions of native fullerenes (have the properties of lyophobic molecular colloidal systems) on grain yield, protection of vegetative plants. The result of the work will be the substantiation of the principles of the methodology for the application of nanostructured substances for use in biotechnologies of multifunctional highly effective drugs for agriculture with biologically active additives.

With the well-established fact that meniscectomy predisposes patients to early osteoarthritis, there has been an increase in the incidence of meniscal repairs in recent years, even in active older patients, and in avascular zones. Although many techniques have been described for meniscal repair, even experienced surgeons face difficulties in certain scenarios. In this technical note, we present some techniques to facilitate the arthroscopic treatment of meniscal repair in general and introduce some novel techniques in some special scenarios.

It is a well-established fact that adequate social security measures are used as a tool to allow persons a measure of financial security and support in the event of certain contingencies. Historically, disability has been one of the "core" contingencies, which is covered by social security schemes. The purpose of social security in providing for this contingency is to compensate for income lost or reduced as a result of disability. The fact that more women in South Africa have disabilities than men leads to the conclusion that women with disabilities are more negatively affected by poverty than men with disabilities. This in turn makes a woman with a disability more likely to be dependent on the disability grant than a man with a disability. The link between gender, disability and poverty will be discussed to illustrate the socio-economic position of female disability grant recipients in comparison to male disability grant recipients. This article will address the relative poverty of female disability grant recipients and make recommendations to address this relative poverty.

It is well established fact that the functional effects, such as relaxation and retardation of materials, can be measured for magnetized permeability based on relative increase or decrease during magnetization. In this context, a mathematical model is formulated based on slippage and non-slippage assumptions for Oldroyd-B fluid with magnetized permeability. An innovative definition of Caputo-Fabrizio time fractional derivative is implemented to hypothesize the constitutive energy and momentum equations. The exact solutions of presented problem, are determined by using mathematical techniques, namely Laplace transform with slipping boundary conditions have been invoked to tackle governing equations of velocity and temperature. The Nusselt number and limiting solutions have also been persuaded to estimate the heat emission rate through physical interpretation. In order to provide the validation of the problem, the absence of retardation time parameter led the investigated solutions with good agreement in literature. Additionally, comprehensively scrutinize the dynamics of the considered problem with parametric analysis is accomplished, the graphical illustration is depicted for slipping and non-slipping solutions for temperature and velocity. A comparative studies between fractional and non-fractional models describes that the fractional model elucidate the memory effects more efficiently.
