As COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately and negatively impacted women, structural responses are needed to prevent and address work–life imbalance issues experienced by women every day. Gendered work and barriers in gaining employment have reduced women’s participation in paid work/employment. Most of those who are employed, experience unfair work–life imbalance as they end up working for paid job and as well as in their homes. The consequences of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns have further worsened their work–life imbalance. Most of those who have lost paid jobs have been experiencing significant financial and psychological stress and are doing more work than usual in their homes. To address these issues appropriate structural responses are warranted.

The general pattern of structural change in relation to GDP per capita (using panel data) shows a decline of agriculture and a huge increase in services. Initially the shares of industry and manufacturing in GDP and employment increase, followed by a decline. But there are interesting differences between countries, both in terms of levels and in terms of the timing of the turning point. This chapter revisits the debates on structural change in the tradition of Chenery and his associates. It examines the findings of Chenery in the light of more recent data. By and large it finds that the conclusions of Chenery stand the test of time. Subsequently, the chapter goes on to examine patterns of structural change within manufacturing, and finds important differences between sectors. Some sectors conform to the general U-curve, but other—high-tech—sectors buck the trend. Their shares of employment continue to expand even at higher levels of per capita income.

Understanding the conditions that facilitate mothers’ employment and fathers’ involvement in childcare and housework is important for achieving gender equity in paid and unpaid work. Using Sen’s capabilities framework, the article explores the effect of paternal involvement in childcare on mothers’ employment resumption nine months and three years’ post-childbirth. Logistic regression is used on the UK’s Millennium Cohort Study. Results show that the probability of mothers resuming employment increase at both time points if the father is more involved in childcare nine months post-birth – and in some cases, this is more important for her employment resumption than her occupational class and the number of hours the father spends in paid work. However, attitudes have an even stronger effect, and appear to drive behaviour, as the probability of mothers resuming employment increase significantly three years post-birth if either parent endorses more gender egalitarian roles in the first year of parenthood.

Contemporary tourism trends are marked by a number of elements that enrich the product of the tourism and travel industry and contribute to the satisfaction of visitors, while respecting the principles of sustainable tourist destination management. This paper analyzes the possibilities for the implementation of charter flights and the introduction of electric cars with the aim of connecting maritime and continental tourism in Croatia on the principles of sustainable development of tourist destinations. For the purpose of proving the set hypotheses, research has been carried out involving all the county tourist offices as the target points of the survey, as each of them covers a range of local self-government units, and can be considered a representative sample of tourism in the entire territory of Croatia. The survey was conducted through questionnaires with the office directors. The analysis of their responses suggests the need to approach and merge maritime and continental tourism through a new tourist product by introducing charter flights and electric cars. Based on the results of the research and in the opinion of the respondents, the introduction of charter flights would lead to the extension of the tourist season, the expansion of the tourist offer and thus the greater pleasure of visitors themselves, increase of employment, increase of local government revenues and synergy effect of economic development. Respondents believe that the introduction of alternative electric vehicles would significantly contribute to environmental protection and rationalization of operations due to considerably lower costs (gas emissions into the environment, the possibility of co-financing through EU funds or central and local government funds, maintenance costs, etc.). The introduction of charter flights and the usage of electric cars from the airport to the destination would significantly contribute to the achievement of better tourism-related results and the increase of the competitiveness of Croatian tourism as a whole.

This study aimedto know the factors associated with hearing loss in labor of PT BNT. This research used observationalwith cross sectional approach. The sample in this research amounted to 56 peoplewith purposive sampling technique. Data were analised using univariat, bivariat Chi Squareand simple multivariate regress logistic regression. There was a significant relationship amongthe use of PPE of employment, labor knowledge of employment, age of employment, the periodof employment, the level of noise with hearing loss of labor of PT BNT. The most dominant factoraffecting hearing loss occurs was work period with Exp (B) 23.889.
