AbstractThis study constructs the form of externalization performed by Kiai Djauhari, Kiai Tidjani, and Kiai Ahmad Fauzi as practitioners of the Tijaniyah Order at the Al-Amien Prenduan Islamic Boarding School, all of which are leaders and caregivers based on their respective periods. Moreover, while this is phenomenological-based research, its data collection methods appear to consist of observation, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, the research findings are analyzed through the theory of Social Reality Construction of Peter L Berger. In accordance with the conclusion, it revealed that the construction carried out by the three Kiais at the Islamic Boarding School possesses the same meaning, namely to produce mutafaqquh fiddin students by internalizing noble values and characters such as repentance, honesty, patience, god-fearing piety (taqwa), steadfastness (istiqamah), gratitude, abstinence (wara’), asceticism (zuhud’), sincerity and humility by continuously teaching the books of Sufism as well as providing an exemplary life for their students. However, the three of them have different forms and accentuations. While Kiai Djauhari seemed to lead individually, either Kiai Tidjani or Kiai Ahmad Fauzi appeared to lead by forming a Riasah Council which implemented modern management and collegial leadership in their respective periods. In addition, while Kiai Djauhari involved students in practicing the Tijaniyah Order, it seemed that the other two did not encourage students to do so.

<p>Knowledge has been at the centre of philosophical and scientific enquiry for centuries. It remains a topic of central importance in psychology. The current thesis examined how knowledge was managed and treated as relevant by speakers in social interaction in situ. Complaint calls to a dispute resolution telephone helpline service were studied using discursive psychology and conversation analysis as theoretical and methodological frameworks. The thesis focused on how knowledge was implicated in the accomplishment of the institutional task of jointly establishing the facts of the complaint. In particular, the research examined how the issues of ‘who knows what’ and ‘who has the rights to know it’ were demonstrably relevant for speakers in these interactions. The empirical work focused on two types of question-answer sequences. In cases where some requested information was not forthcoming or not immediately provided, callers’ conduct displayed their orientations to a normative expectation that they knew what was asked for and that they had an obligation to provide it. A second set of cases was a collection of declarative requests for confirmation. The different types of responses to such questions were described. It was proposed that the responses could be placed along a continuum, by the extent to which they asserted a caller’s epistemic rights to knowledge about the relevant information. The thesis contributed to existing research by drawing together recent conversation analytic work on epistemics as a domain of organization in social interaction, and more established discursive psychological work on reality construction. The thesis highlighted the practical nature of knowledge, as it was relevant for accomplishing a key institutional task, and other actions, in telephone-mediated dispute resolution.</p>

<span class="fontstyle0">The purpose of this research was to see the framing of the news about the dissolution of the mass organization of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) by mediaindonesia.com and kompas.com. This research used a qualitative approach and framing analysis method with the Zhongdang Pan &amp; Kosicki model. There were four (4) framing tools used to analyze,<br />namely (1) Syntax, (2) Script, (3) Thematic, (4) Rhetorical. The research objects were five (5) news of the disbandment of FPI on mediaindonesia.com and three (3) news of that on kompas.com. Data analysis was carried out by analyzing news based on semantic, script, thematic and rhetorical structures. The results showed that mediaindonesia.com constructed the disbandment of the FPI mass organization as an appropriate government step, based on legal grounds, not making it up and there was no element of sentiment towards FPI because the decision had referred to the right legal basis. The framing of the disbandment of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) community organization on mediaindonesia.com supported the government by providing government sources and quotations from sources who   supported the government. Meanwhile, Kompas.com was more supportive of the community with sources from within the community and quotations from sources who supported the community. The construction process carried out by the two mass media has represented the stages of construction described by the social reality construction theory of mass media.</span>

This research aims to reveal the way mass media in Indonesia frame the radicalism and the multiculturalism issues in its relation to the radicalists’ needs to publicize their acts. Ten news items published in Tempo magazine were analyzed by using Robert N. Entman’s framing model. The analysis shows that Tempo views radicalism as a dangerous threat so that revising laws is regarded as the feasible solution. Some radicalist attacks taking place in Indonesia are always connected to Islamic State of Iraq and Syria including Thamrin Bombing.
