This work fabricated a double hollow structural component of Mg-8.3Gd-2.9Y-0.8Zn-0.2Zr alloy by superplastic forming (SPF) and reaction-diffusion bonding (RDB). The superplastic characteristic and mechanical properties of Mg-8.3Gd-2.9Y-0.8Zn-0.2Zr alloy sheets at 250–450 °C were studied. Tensile tests showed that the maximum elongation of tensile specimens was about 1276.3% at 400 °C under a strain rate of 1 × 10−3 s−1. Besides, the effect of bonding temperature and interface roughness on microstructure and mechanical properties of the reaction diffusion-bonded joints with a Cu interlayer was investigated. With the increase of temperature, the diffusion coefficient of Cu increases, and the diffusion transition region becomes wider, leading to tightening bonding of the joint. However, the bonding quality of the joint will deteriorate due to grain size growth at higher temperatures. Shear tests showed that the highest strength of the joints was 152 MPa (joint efficiency = 98.7%), which was performed at 460 °C.

This research aims to determine the effect of corporate governance as measured by institutional ownership, the proportion of independent commissioners, audit committee, and board of director also solvability, profitability, company size, growth opportunity, and capital intensity ratio on tax planning. The population in this research were all mining companies listed on Indonesia stock exchange for the 2015-2018 with the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This type of research was causal associative, with data analysis method, namely confirmatory factor analysis and then continued with multiple regression analysis. The result of the factor test indicate that the audit committee is not a determinant of tax planning. Based on the results of regression analysis shows that simultaneously, institutional ownership, the proportion of independent commissioners, board of directors, solvency, profitability, company size, growth opportunity, and capital intensity ratio have an effect on tax planning. While partially, the results of the study indicate that institutional ownership, profitability, growth opportunity, and capital intensity ratio can be determinants that affect corporate tax planning. Meanwhile, the proportion of independent commissioners, board of directors, solvency, and company size partially not influence the company to do the tax planning. From results of this research, the government is expected will pay more attention to the grey area that can be used by companies as a gap to reduce tax payments which results in reduced state revenues.

Basfia succiniciproducens is a facultative anaerobic capnophilic bacterium, isolated from rumen, that naturally produces high amounts of succinic acid by fixing CO2 and using fumarate as final electron acceptor. This metabolic feature makes it one of the ideal candidates for developing biotechnological industrial routes that could eventually replace the polluting and environment unfriendly petrochemical ones that are still main sources for the production of this value-added compound. In fact, due to the large number of applications of succinic acid that range from the more traditional ones as food additive or pharmaceutical intermediate to the most recent as building block for biopolymers and bioplastic, increasing demand and market size growth are expected in the next years. In line with a “green revolution” needed to preserve our environment, the great challenge is the establishment of commercially viable production processes that exploit renewable materials and in particular preferably non-food lignocellulosic biomasses and waste products. In this review, we describe the currently available literature concerning B. succiniciproducens since the strain was first isolated, focusing on the different renewable materials and fermentation strategies used to improve succinic acid production titers to date. Moreover, an insight into the metabolic engineering approaches and the key physiological characteristics of B. succiniciproducens deduced from the different studies are presented.

The current study explains the relationship of dividend payout policy on the business performance of companies that exist in sugar of Pakistan. 100 companies are selected from sugar sector. Relationship of dividend payout policy and business performance was controlled with four variables based on relevant theories. These variables include size of company, growth of company, leverage (debt to equity ratio) and corporate governance index. Panel data is collected from 2012-2017 (six years) and then analyzed with unit root, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, OLS regression, Lagrange multiplier, Huasman test, Fixed effect and Random effect models. Following key findings for each research objective were obtained by applying the adopted research method on the data through the adopted method of analyses: The results of the study show sugar companies showed no sign of a relationship between their dividend payout policy and profitability and so there is no controlling factor effective due to the absence of any relationship. This study aimed to determine the effect of capital structure, firm size, firm growth on firm value with profitability as an intervening variable in LQ45 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018-2020. The sample used is 33 LQ45 companies during the period 2018-2020. This research uses multiple linear regression and path analysis. The results showed that the capital structure had a significant adverse effect on profitability and firm value. Meanwhile, firm size and growth do not significantly affect profitability and firm value. Profitability has a significant positive effect on firm value. Indirectly, capital structure affects firm value through profitability, while firm size and growth do not indirectly affect firm value.

Abstract One of the main goals of sturgeon aquaculture is the restoration and renewal of wild populations of sturgeon fish in nature, which creates a tension between selective breeding with maintenance of valuable economic traits in a homozygous state and the need to conserve genetic diversity ensuring fitness in natural environments. It is generally assumed that important economic characteristics, such as body weight and size, growth rate, fecundity, etc., as well as fitness in fish, are associated with heterozygosity and genetic polymorphism of some key metabolic enzymes. It remains unclear whether aquaculture conditions can be as a whole selection factor in favor of certain allelic variants of these enzymes. To establish the relationship between some economic traits and enzymatic polymorphism, we studied the distribution of allelic variants of LDH-3, AAT-2, FGM, and Est enzymes in stellate sturgeon reared in aquaculture. We revealed a frequency bias of some allelic variants of the studied enzymes in a cohort of fish from the generation bred in aquaculture compared to the frequencies of those alleles in wild natural populations. Our study suggests that industrial breeding promotes selection in the direction of reducing size but increasing survival rates, which correlates with certain allelic variants.

Abstract We study the role of atomic hydrogen (H i) in regulating the size growth of local galaxies. The size of a galaxy, D r,25, is characterized by the diameter at which the r-band surface brightness reaches μ r = 25.0 mag arcsec − 2 . We find that the positions of galaxies in the size (D r,25)−stellar-mass (M *) plane strongly depend on their H i-to-stellar-mass ratio (M H i /M *). In the H i−rich regime, galaxies that are richer in H i tend to have larger sizes. Such a trend is not seen in the H i–poor regime, suggesting that size growth is barely affected by the H i content when it has decreased to a sufficiently low level. An investigation of the relations between size, M H I/M *, and star formation rate (SFR) suggests that size is more intrinsically linked with M H I/M *, rather than SFR. We further examine the H i-to-stellar-disk size ratio (D H I/D r,25) of galaxies and find that at log(M H I/M *) > −0.7, D H I/D r,25 is weakly correlated with M *. These findings support a picture in which the H i−rich galaxies live in an inside-out disk-growing phase regulated by gas accretion and star formation. The angular momentum of the accreted materials is probably the key parameter in shaping the size of a H i−rich galaxy.

Urban forests can provide essential environmental and social functions if properly planned and managed. Tree inventory and measurements are a critical part of assessing and monitoring the size, growth, and health condition of urban trees. In this context, the parameters usually collected are DBH and total height, but additional data about crown dimensions (width, length, and crown projection) are required for a comprehensive tree assessment. These data are generally collected by urban foresters through field surveys using tree caliper or diameter tape for DBH, and the electronic ipsometer/clinometer to measure tree height and crown size. Greater detail could be achieved using a digital instrument as Field-Map, a portable computer station to quickly realize dimensional and topographic surveys of trees and forest stands. Finally, the incorporation of the LIDAR scanner into smartphone, as the iPhone 12 Pro, has made this device able to measure tree attributes, as well as additional spatial data in the field. In this study, we tested these three different measurement systems in a field sampling of an urban forest and compared them in terms of measurable parameters, accuracy, cost, and time efficiency. Furthermore, we discussed the pros and cons of each measurement approach and how the resulted data can be used to evaluate ecosystem services of trees and provide guidance on tree management also to reduce potential risks or disservices.

Abstract In this study, a large-size eutectic scintillator of Tb-doped BaCl2/NaCl/KCl was grown using the Czochralski (Cz) and halide vertical Bridgman methods (H-VB). The suitability of these two growth methods for growing the eutectic was compared. Finally, 1 diameter eutectic bulks were obtained using the H-VB method. The Tb3+-derived strongest intensity peak at approximately 550 nm was observed by X-ray irradiation. An approximately 3 × 3 mm transparent eutectic plate was cut and polished from the grown eutectic bulk. An α-ray imaging test was performed using the eutectic plate, a fiber optic plate, and an electron-multiplying CCD camera. The resolution performance for radiation-imaging applications was evaluated.

Abstract In this work, TiO2/Ti2O3 composite catalysts were prepared by simple one-step thermal treatment method at various temperatures. The morphology and structure of as-prepared samples have been examined by XRD, TGA and SEM. The XRD characterization results revealed three-phase mixture in sample treated at 550°C, while at 650°C phase transformation from TiO2 anatase to TiO2 rutile and particle size growth was observed. Moreover, the effect of treatment temperature on the photocatalytic degradation of caffeine was evaluated under UV light irradiation. Results indicated that TiO2/Ti2O3-550 exhibited higher catalytic activity than others achieving complete caffeine removal in 60 min.
