This chapter situates itself in the climate justice discourse and unpacks the paradoxes in state and grassroots action. It argues that due to market-orientated and neo-liberal water and sanitation governance, the failure to take into account water and climate change governance as well as ecological and institutional economics resulted in climate change chaos. Due to this paralysis, communities failed to adapt to climate variability. The illogicalities and ambiguities in what the municipality says and does leaves local communities at the vagaries of nature and to deal with the resulting chaos albeit with some doing so in quite inspiring ways. The empirical data is collected through 120 interviews and four participatory action workshops conducted with civil society actors, government officials, academics, and communities of AmaQadi situated in North Central Durban, Umbumbulu in South Durban, Wood Glen and Zamani B in Durban Outer West, Ntuzuma G and Soweto in North Central Durban. The key finding is that the municipal Climate Change Protection Unit adopted a ‘climate-resilient' strategy on the one hand, but on the other, city electricity officials built power stations in flood plains, the Economic Development Unit promoted a shopping mall in a wetland, and eThekwini Water is introducing unpopular UD toilets to deal with water scarcity, without looking at externalities in wetlands and the discharge of faecal waste from broken sewers that compromise biodiversity and ecosystem balances. This chapter is contributing knowledge of climate change resilience and adaptation by communities within the framework of new institutional and ecological economics.

ABSTRACT Introduction Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are increasingly a standard of care for many cancers; these agents can result in immune-related adverse events (irAEs) including fever, which is common but can rarely be associated with systemic immune activation (SIA or acquired HLH). Methods All consecutive patients receiving ICIs in the Drug Development Unit of the Royal Marsden Hospital between May 2014 and November 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with fever ≥ 38°C or chills/rigors (without fever) ≤ 6 weeks of commencing ICIs were identified for clinical data collection. Results Three patients met diagnostic criteria for SIA/HLH with median time to onset of symptoms of 10 days. We describe the clinical evolution, treatment used, and outcomes for these patients. High-dose steroids are used first-line with other treatments, such as tocilizumab, immunoglobulin and therapeutic plasmapheresis can be considered for steroid-refractory SIA/HLH. Conclusion SIA/HLH post ICI is a rare but a potentially fatal irAE that presents with fever and a constellation of nonspecific symptoms. Early recognition and timely treatment are key to improving outcomes.

The need for fertilizer at the Plant Protection Development Unit (UPPT) is uncertain depending on the demand of farmers, therefore it is necessary to predict fertilizer needs. There are five types of fertilizers predicted by the Plant Protection Development Unit (UPPT), including Urea fertilizer, ZA fertilizer, SP-36 fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, and Organic fertilizer, so fertilizer needs can be predicted. In predicting data mining on fertilizer needs using the ID3 algorithm. Where it works is calculating the value of entropy and gain to get the final result in the form of a tree to the decision and rule. Testing is done using the tanagra software. The results of the tests carried out on the tanagra application using the ID3 algorithm are in the form of a decision tree, while in the calculation the results obtained are in the form of a decision tree.

This Research aims to develop a decision support system that can facilitate the proposal selection process and provide an alternative ranking for the selection results of student creativity program proposal selection. This decision support system uses a combination calculation of the Simple Additive Weighting and Weigthted Product methods, hereinafter referred to as Modified SAW. The criteria used in this assessment refer to the 2020 Student Creativity Program Guidebook. The data used in this decision support system uses proposal selection data in the Student Creativity Development Unit of Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra in 2019 for 2020. This system was developed by determining criteria and weight determination using the Simple Additive Weighting method and then make improvements to the weight and determine the preference value using the Weighted Product method. Each of the SAW and WP methods certainly has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of SAW with a simple and simple ranking process, can be applied to decision-making cases such as in the recommendation of selecting proposals with various attributes. While the use of Weighted Product (WP) is often used because the weight is calculated based on the level of importance and can evaluate the set of attributes by multiplying all criteria with alternative results as well as the power between weights and alternative multiplication results. This WP method can also be used in assisting in recommendation of proposal selection based on what is needed by the University. By utilizing the advantages and disadvantages of each method, this combination is able to produce an accuracy of 91% for the SAW method, 97% for the accuracy using the WP and 99% for the accuracy value for the combination of the SAW and WP methods. This decision support system using MOD SAW can help facilitate the proposal selection process and provide alternative ranking results. Further research is suggested for the development of a decision support system for proposal selection using a combination of different methods between SAW and other methods.
