World is threatened by different variants of Coronavirus to an extent that life has been jeopardized in all services including eye care facility. Contact lenses which are one of the preferred modes of vision correction are not an exception to COVID-19 infection. Recently there is confusion among practitioners and patients regarding the safety of contact lens use during COVID-19. This review article summarizes the current recommendations and findings regarding contact lens use during COVID-19. Though eye health professionals and contact lens users are at risk to contract Coronavirus, with proper care, maintenance and disinfection techniques, it would be safe to continue wearing contact lenses. There is currently no strong evidence to suggest that contact lenses are not safe to wear during COVID 19 times. Eye care practitioners responsible for contact lens application must wear special surgical masks, protective glasses or visors and disposable waterproof gloves. Regarding soft contact lenses, preferably daily disposable lenses should be used from the sterile packages. Similarly for rigid gas permeable lenses, lenses made up of fluoropolymer contained in sealed packages must be motivated for the individuals. Since the infected hands can bring the virus to the eyes, contact lens users should avoid touching the nose, mouth and eye unnecessarily. Contact lens after each use must be disinfected with hydrogen peroxide solutions with a special catalyst container. In the case of eye redness and Flu like symptoms, contact lens trial and wearing practices should be suspended or postpone till the condition becomes normal. To minimize the contact time between the patient and examiner soft copy of the instruction sheet, teleconsultation should be motivated. Though the eye is an unlikely site for Coronavirus infection, eye doctors should warn the contact lens wearers to follow scrupulous contact lens hygiene rules.

Background and Aim: Multiple consultation models exist in medical practice. A comprehensive doctor-patient relationship serves as a foundation to bring about a positive outcome in terms of patient health. However, evidence of doctors’ impact on improving patients’ mental and physical health through a specific model is sparse. This study aimed to identify the most common consultation models adopted in four different specialties at four hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methods: From four tertiary care hospitals of Riyadh, clinicians (n=263) with clinical experience >3 years from Internal Medicine, Surgery, Family Medicine, and Psychiatry departments participated in this observational study. A 27-items questionnaire describing five consultation models was carried out in hard copy and a soft copy using the Snowball sampling method to receive the responses that were analyzed by using SPSS version 23.0 in the form of descriptive results. Results: Out of 263, most clinicians (n=121, 46.0 %) were found to practice a blended consultation approach while dealing with patients. The 2nd most common adopted consultation model was the Deliberative model (n= 109, 41.4%). Other consultation (Informative and Interpretive) models were the least practiced models (1.5%). Conclusion: The blended consultation is found to be the most practiced consultation model. A clinician should adopt an attitude that is flexible and empathetic towards patients’ needs and expectations. Consideration should be given to assisting physicians in adapting their roles for interpersonal styles to the preferences of various patients. This expanded role will result in improved health outcomes for diverse populations utilizing health care. Key words: Deliberative model, Doctor Behavior, Family Medicine, Interpretive Model, Paternalistic Model, Informative Model, Psychiatry

Introduction This paper reports the results of a rolling audit of sonographer-performed non-obstetric ultrasound examinations undertaken between 2010 and 2020 in a large University Teaching Hospital Ultrasound Department in the United Kingdom. We believe that this represents the largest published audit of sonographer non-obstetric ultrasound examination quality. Methods Random samples of sonographer ultrasound examinations were regularly and systematically audited by consultant-level ultrasound practitioners through review of soft copy images and reports. Examination and report quality were assessed against an internal audit standard in 3731 patients over an 11-year period and also against externally set audit standards in 3186 patients over a nine-year period. Results Both image and report quality exceeded externally set audit standards in all nine years of audit. In the internal audit, the quality standard just failed to be met for the first five years of audit but was achieved in all the subsequent six years. Conclusion This audit provides further information on the quality and safety of sonographer-led ultrasound service delivery within a service that has quality safeguards, readily available support and an active education programme. It is used not only to provide assurance to patients, clinicians, managers and commissioners of this service but also to direct individual professional development and drive an iterative process of quality improvement.

Reading is an important skill that can be used to communicate and understand the academic, business and cultural world. Reading can be a tool for learners’ progress and success in different fields of discipline. This study utilized descriptive-correlational design to examine 41 respondents selected as census or total enumeration using purposive sampling. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents used hard copy reading materials for the past 12 months. There were 22 respondents who used books, 2 who used magazines and 1 respondent used newspaper. Most of the class were in frustration level which is 75. 6%. There was one non-reader. Independent readers were four and instructional were five. There was a significant negative relationship (cc= -0.572 and p-value= 0.001) between choice of reading materials and reading achievement. This suggested that the use of soft copies as reading material is correlated to high reading achievement.  The implications may serve as basis for intervention, program, and policy formulation. Teachers need to design interactive reading materials using the 21st Century technologies like soft copies reading materials which can be handy and can be access anytime and anywhere using mobile phones. Reading intervention using technology-based materials may be designed to improve reading achievement of the students. Schools may introduce e-library which may introduce various materials that can be accessed and read in soft copy format.  This will also be beneficial to distance learning modality.

An optical character recognition (OCR) system may be the solution to data entry problems for saving the printed document as a soft copy of them. Therefore, OCR systems are being developed for all languages, and Kurdish is no exception. Kurdish is one of the languages that present special challenges to OCR. The main challenge of Kurdish is that it is mostly cursive. Therefore, a segmentation process must be able to specify the beginning and end of the characters. This step is important for character recognition. This paper presents an algorithm for Kurdish character segmentation. The proposed algorithm uses the projection-based approach concepts to separate lines, words, and characters. The algorithm works through the vertical projection of a word and then identifies the splitting areas of the word characters. Then, a post-processing stage is used to handle the over-segmentation problems that occur in the initial segmentation stage. The proposed method is tested using a data set consisting of images of texts that vary in font size, type, and style of more than 63,000 characters. The experiments show that the proposed algorithm can segment Kurdish words with an average accuracy of 98.6%.

The delivery system for Base Transceiver System (BTS) to strengthen the telecommunication network throughout Indonesia maritime country is needed to speed up the process due to uneven distribution of sufficient telecommunications infrastructure. PT. Gunadhya Rajawali Logistik (GRL) is a third-party logistics company that focuses on transportation and warehouse management and delivery for telecommunication equipment tools. Unfortunately, in delivering BTS installation part throughout Indonesia, PT. GRL received several warning letters and had to pay a penalty from one of customers, for being late in reporting the delivery proof. This study aims to analyze the root causes of late submission of Soft Copy of Proof of Delivery (SCPOD) to avoid penalty given by the customer and determine suitable solutions to improve the process. The approach used in this study is lean six sigma with the help of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) roadmap. According to the interview with the employees related, the root causes of late submission of SCPOD are irresponsible drivers, indiscipline drivers in carrying out deliveries, and lack of data management in the transportation system. To be able to solve this problem, several proposed solutions can be applied. The proposed solutions to overcome the root causes that should be applied by the company are to hire a document control, retraining the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for drivers, utilize transportation management system application, and apply incentive systems for drivers. In the future, it is recommended for PT. GRL to have a minimum standard in recruiting the drivers for example only recruit who possess a minimum of high school education to ease the completion of administrative tasks.
