AbstractAnimals are essential genetic tools in scientific research and global resources in agriculture. In both arenas, a single sex is often required in surplus. The ethical and financial burden of producing and culling animals of the undesired sex is considerable. Using the mouse as a model, we develop a synthetic lethal, bicomponent CRISPR-Cas9 strategy that produces male- or female-only litters with one hundred percent efficiency. Strikingly, we observe a degree of litter size compensation relative to control matings, indicating that our system has the potential to increase the yield of the desired sex in comparison to standard breeding designs. The bicomponent system can also be repurposed to generate postnatal sex-specific phenotypes. Our approach, harnessing the technological applications of CRISPR-Cas9, may be applicable to other vertebrate species, and provides strides towards ethical improvements for laboratory research and agriculture.

The yield of the sugarcane depends on the quality of the seed used for plantation. The traditional methods of cultivation of sugarcane by cutting random sections of a stalk called sets and sowing them for propagation purposes result in quality degradation. When a defective sugarcane part is used for propagation purposes poor quality sugarcanes are obtained. This results in wastage of a large number of resources used for cultivation purposes. In the paper, we propose an efficient method using image processing for determining the nodes of the sugarcane crop that are found suitable for the propagation of good quality sugarcane. We present the design of a hardware prototype that automatically cuts and gives the cultivator a suitable node that has to be sowed for fresh cultivation. We validate the proposed method by determining the quality of fifty samples of sugarcane stalks and observe that our method works with 93.62 percent efficiency.

This study aims to know how performance efficiency BAZNAS in Bogor city, Bogor district, and Sukabumi district, and recommends things need BAZNAS have not been efficient can reach 100 percent efficiency level. This research using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, with intermediation approach and production approach. The input and output intermediation approach are collected funds, operational costs, and channeled funds. The input and output of production approach are operational costs, socialization costs, collected funds, and channeled funds. The result of this study show that with intermediate approach BAZNAS has descresed efficiency. Calculation of production approach indicates that BAZNAS has increased efficiency value. Badan Amil Zakat Nasional Sukabumi district has obtained efficiency 100 percent in the both approaches. Badan Amil Zakat Nasional have not been efficient can diminished operational cost and socialization cost, then increased collected funds and channeled funds.

Leachate is a liquid arising from the decomposition of waste that has decayed due to the flow of external water into the landfill. Leachate can be toxic. generally, leachate contains several high inorganic metals, including lead. Lead is one type of heavy metal that has a high toxicity. This study aims to determine the initial concentration of lead (Pb) in leachate and the percent efficiency of polyaluminium chloride (PAC) coagulant in reducing lead levels in IPST Toisapu, Ambon City. Lead content was analyzed by coagulation using an atomic absorption spechtrophotometer (AAS). Coagulation is a chemichal process used to remove particles that can cause environmental pollution. The coagulant used is a polyaluminium chloride coagulant. The results of the analysis showed that the initial lead concentration at IPST Toisapu was 2.7670mg/L and the percentage of PAC coagulant efficiency was 500, 600, 700, 800 and 1000 mg/L respectively 61,59%; 69,92%; 73,55%; 77,17% and 84,79%. The results showed that PAC coagulant was effective in reducing lead levels in leachate.

Drone technology is becoming more and more popular in our lives. Drone technology; industry, art, agricultural production, and many other areas are heavily used. With the system called Agricultural Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (DRONE), at least 10 percent efficiency is expected to be achieved every year in agricultural land. In practice, agricultural lands are examined and the places where intervention is needed for soil health are determined. With the multispectral camera on it, the appearance of the land is examined and a soil map is taken and it is determined that the area of 100 hectares is photographed in 30 minutes. As a result, soil structure is analyzed, chlorophyll map is created, plant health is examined and weeds are detected. Irrigation is also checked for difficulty. After the work, it is ensured that the producer can benefit from the soil in the most efficient way. In this study, you will be informed about the types of drone types used for agricultural purposes, whether you need to register a drone owner's vehicle, selected applications and what you can see in the images. with the help of a detailed literature, those experienced in different countries and in particular for agriculture to be evaluated will be determined case for Turkey.

The purpose of this research is to find out the efficiency of Islamic Banking in 2015-2016 period. Samples both input and output from 4 Islamic Banking were used in this research included deposit, asset, personnel load, financing, and operational profit. Every changes of variable in that data can show the condition of Islamic Banking. The method uses in this research is called by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with intermediation approach. The result shows that only Bukopin Islamic Banking and BNI Islamic Banking who have reached 100 percent efficiency during this research period. The highest inefficiency is experienced by Mandiri Islamic Banking. Mandiri Islamic Banking was insufficiency during this research period.  Meanwhile, the BCA Islamic Banking underwent inefficiency three times in 2016

The objective of this research is to analyze the efficiency rate at Islamic regional banks (BPD) in Indonesia, with case of 15 Islamic regional banks from 2008 – 2012. The method that used in this research is stochastic frontier analysis approach (SFA), which uses the input variable (such as human resources cost, administration cost, and other expenses) and the output variable is SFA (operational income). The average efficiency rate from 15 Islamic regional banks from 2008 – 2012 with SFA method is 53.21 percent and all of the Islamic regional banks doesn’t achieve the 100 percent efficiency. The most efficient banks is Islamic regional bank of Kalimantan Barat which the efficiency rate achieve 90.42 percent and the most inefficiency banks is Islamic regional bank of Sumatera Barat. The average efficiency rate from 2008-2012 is always increase each year. In 2008 the average efficiency rate only 33.57 percent and in the last of 2012 achieve 71.81 percent.DOI: 10.15408/sjie.v4i1.2291
