An increasing number of sport organizations express interest in international accreditation standards as a way of tackling environmental sustainability (ES) challenges. This article, however, argues that the commercial context of these standards and “the bazaar economy” in which its suppliers operate may hamper the diverse solutions needed to reduce the ecological footprint of sport. At the same time, it acknowledges that standards are useful to certain sporting organizations. To sort out the pros and cons of the relation between such standards and ES work in sport organizations, the Formula E (for Electric) championship is used as case example. The championship became the first category in motorsport to receive ISO certification in 2018, and 2 years later, it achieved net zero carbon footprint from inception. On that basis, the article provides a typology that provides coordinates for empirical research on how sport organizations may avoid “organizational hypocrisy” in their ES work by viewing the pros and cons of ISO certification. While the practical implication is insight into what it takes for a sport organization to achieve a specific certification, the academic implication is conceptual coordinates for empirical and comparative research of ES initiatives and certifications.

Currently the process of ISO Certification and Accreditation CONAIC play an important role in the quality management of products and services that Higher Education Institutions (IES) offer to society. That is why, regardless the sector they belong, whether private or public have understood that undergo evaluation processes and meet an extensive and detailed list of requirements applying organizations, promote a return -oriented investment in benefits to same institution. This paper presents a new point of view in the similarities that exist in the components and structure of both processes, the advantages may be mentioned that the institutions that have already approved accreditation can undergo more confidence to certification, or vice versa ; and also it promotes areas of opportunity to strengthen the assessment mechanism CONAIC .

AbstractLaryngoscopes are used as diagnostic devices for throat inspection or as an aid to intubation. Their blade must be geometrically compatible with patients’ anatomy to provide a good view to doctors with minimal discomfort to patients. For this reason, this paper was aimed to investigate the feasibility of producing customized blades. The customizable blade model was developed following a feature-based approach with eight morphological parameters. The thickness of such a blade was determined through numerical simulations of ISO certification tests, where the finite element mesh was obtained by morphing a ‘standard’ mesh. The following procedure was applied: the model was built from the selected parameters; the blade was tested in silico; finally, the blade was produced by additive manufacturing with an innovative biodegradable material (Hemp Bio-Plastic® -HBP-) claimed to feature superior mechanical properties. The procedure evidenced that the mechanical properties of current biodegradable materials are unsuitable for the application unless the certification norm is revised, as it is expected.

This paper reported the factors affecting the adoption of green procurement in Indonesian educational institutions.  A quantitative method is used to understand the effects between variables on green procurement implementation. Data from respondents working on the divisions of procurement from higher degree institutions in the province of East Java Indonesia are collected in this study. The results were indicated that there are no significant effects on middle management staff, awareness, and corporate responsibility on the implementation of green procurement on educational institutions. At the same time, there is a significant impact of green supply approaches such as ISO certification and eco-design product strategy on the adoption of green procurement.

Abstract In the second half of the 2000s, EPAL developed an integrated approach to asset management, designed according to the logic of PAS 55. Since then, asset management has been recognized as an invaluable function within the company and the portfolio of measures identified in the above-mentioned integrated approach has been implemented. With the release, in 2014, of ISO 55001, certification of the asset management system was made possible. Given the work already developed towards the deployment of asset management at EPAL, and because this had been based in the PAS 55 philosophy, EPAL was well positioned to obtain the ISO certification. The key challenges regarding the above-mentioned process were associated more with the implementation of the asset management at EPAL, rather than with the certification in itself. Because asset management was already an established practice at EPAL, key benefits of the certification are related to the documentation of such practice, which is something very important that was missing. Preparing for the certification also enabled the redesign of the Corporate Management System in order to meet the ISO and appendix SL requirements, making it more robust. And, of course, ISO 55001 certification became an asset in terms of image and reputation for EPAL!.

Purpose This study aims to bridge the gap left by earlier studies regarding the issue of whether the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification is a stepping stone that ultimately leads to instilling a total quality management (TQM) culture, or whether it is the end-point in their journey toward quality. Design/methodology/approach The study was primarily quantitative in nature supported from a qualitative survey following the triangulation approach, as the aim was to test a number of hypotheses related to TQM’s role in the operation of Greek ISO certified small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A questionnaire was developed based on the critical success factors that were used in the self-assessment instrument developed by Hunt (1992) and Sashkin (1996) to assess the level of TQM implementation in approximately 400 Greek SMEs. Findings The study revealed that Greek ISO certified SMEs, emphasize performance appraisal, invest in quality elements that require minimum usage of their resources and prioritize their ISO certification. Originality/value TQM is one of the most powerful concepts available to businesses today. However, most of the literature focuses on the practice of TQM within large manufacturing organizations. This paper aims to readdress the situation by outlining a study on TQM in the SME sector in Greece.

This study aims to test Corporate Social Responsibility and Good Corporate Governance on the company's financial performance, testing the effect of ISO on company performance. This type of research is quantitative research. Through this research the researcher tries to test the financial performance of the company that is listing in LQ 45 which is influenced by Corporate Social Responsibility, Good Corporate Governance, and ISO Standard 14001. The results showed that GCG had a significant effect on Tobins Q, so that it can be interpreted that companies that implement GCG can help companies improve their financial performance. CSR has no significant effect on Tobins Q. It can be interpreted that CSR focuses more on the problems that might arise on the external company and does not have a direct influence on financial performance. GCG has a significant effect on ISO, this can be interpreted when companies that implement GCG and are accompanied by obtaining ISO certification, will be able to help each other in creating good governance for the company. CSR has no significant effect on ISO. It can be interpreted that companies that implement CSR have no influence on the ISO certification that the company has. ISO has an effect on Tobins Q. It can be interpreted that companies that have ISO certification can have a positive effect on the company's financial performance.

India, as a country with unity in diversity and intensive skill options. Quality standardization and enhancement are the essential ingredients for automobile industry these can be achieved through the implementation of TQM. The design to achieve TQM in automobile industry is the5- S kaizen principles (Seiri/Sort, Seiton/Set in order, Seiso/Shine, Seiketsu/Standardize, Shitsuke/Sustain) and ISO certification. There are many similarities between quality standard ISO 9001 and 5-s principles. This research was conducted at automobile industry. The implementation of 5-S principle integrated with the requirements of ISO 9001 used Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Cross-Tabulation Correlation, and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). The results of this research show the priority degree of 5-S principles on ISO 9001 requirements. It is also found that there is a close relationship between each 5-S principle and ISO 9001 requirements
