The control variables utilised were leverage, Return on Asset (ROA), and Firm Size (FS). The study covered a period of seven years (2014-2020) and a population of forty-eight listed non-financial firms on the Nigerian stock exchange. The going concern of an entity's activity is a fundamental accounting principle. The practical application of this principle has accounting, legal and financial implications. From an accounting point of view, the management of the entities shall be responsible for drawing up the financial statements in accordance with this principle. From a legal perspective, entities that go into liquidation are no longer obliged to respect the going concern principle. When auditing financial statements, auditors shall be responsible for assessing the adequacy of compliance with the principle of going concern and for including the appropriate references in their report. The objective of the paper is to analyse the reasons for including in the auditors' report the paragraph on going concern uncertainties, in the light of their evolution over time, their frequency and diversification. The sample included 120 companies listed on European stock exchanges, included in the main stock indexes for the period 2010-2020. The data was gathered from reports published by auditors that were included in the Audit Analytics database. The results showed that there was an average trend of 20 reported situations per year, but with a significant increase over the last two years analysed mainly due to the situations arising from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The most common reasons were liquidity risk, substantial liabilities and the refinancing of activities. In recent years there has been a diversification of reasons, but with a reduced frequency, such as the working capital, the decrease in stockholder equity and competitor threat. Reporting on going concern issues is of particular importance so that increasing transparency in the publication of this information can contribute to a higher degree of investor confidence in the entities' financial statements.

Undergraduate students’ performance has been extensively studied to identify the critical components in effective teaching and learning pedagogies. This study aims to determine whether the teachers’ practices and implementation of Classroom Assessment Techniques (CAT) enhanced students’ performance in Accounting Principles’ courses and assess students’ perceptions concerning the impact of English language proficiency (EP) and the availability of Saudi-centric textbook materials on students’ performance. Additionally, this study employed the questionnaire survey approach to gain insights into accounting undergraduates’ perceptions of academic performance in Accounting Principles courses. As most students were found to be underachievers, the study outcomes led researchers to propose active learning approaches using CAT as an initiative towards improving students’ performance in benefitting the university and positively transforming the teaching and learning environment.

There exists a potential decline in tax revenue to government among firms with foreign involvement. The main aim of the study is to examine the impact of foreign involvement on corporate tax noncompliance. The study focuses on the effects of foreign CEO, the percentage of foreign executive board members, and the ratio of stocks owned by foreign directors on corporate tax noncompliance. Data on manufacturing firms were utilized based on data availability from 2015 to 2019. Generally accepted accounting principle effective tax rate was utilized as a primary measure of tax noncompliance and fixed effect technique of regression analysis. Controlling for profitability, leverage, firm size and board size, the findings of the study revealed a significant negative effect of the percentage of foreign executives’ shareholding on GAAP ETR. Our result is robust to using cash effective tax rate as an alternative proxy for tax noncompliance. The implication of this finding is that an increase in foreign executive shares will reduce tax proceeds. Given the corporate tax implication, regulatory authorities should weigh the cost and benefit of a benchmark for foreign directors’ equity ownership.
