The article deals with the substantiation of the theoretical and methodological principles of the old age phenomenon. It has also been analyzed positive and negative stereotypes related to aging and old age in the aspect of intergenerational relations. The characteristics of the phenomenon of old age, content, forms of attitude to the elderly are considered. This is important at the level of personal development, rational interaction of generations, no less important are the social and economic aspects. This issue gained special importance at the beginning of the XXI century, when the elderly found themselves in the position of social outsiders, and that was important both for society as a whole and for each person. The importance of addressing the topic is substantiated, as the development of many aspects of social life has led to a significant increase in the number of elderly people, and the ratio between workers and retirees has caused concern among economists. The attention is paid to the fact that demographic change, which means that our society continues to age and the prevailing view that the old man is no longer needed, it is emphasized the importance of recognizing the strengths of old age and their use.

The paper discusses current scientific issues related to the study of the traditional worldview and ritualism of the Khakas people. The work is focused on the analysis of the traditional festival of veneration of “land-water” by the Kyzyls — an ethnic group of the Khakas living in the northern part of Khakassia and in the south of Kras-noyarsk Krai. The characteristic of the ritual complex associated with the worship of the host-spirits is presented: the land spirits (mountains) — tag taig, and the water spirits (springs, lakes, rivers) — sug taiyg. The main sources of the research are unpublished field ethnographic materials. Archival ethnographic information related to this topic, collected in the 1970s by M.S. Usmanova and other researchers from the Tomsk State University, are introduced in the scientific discourse. In the process of studying the indicated problem, it was found that in the culture of the Khakas, including the Kyzyl people, an important place was given to the worship of their native land — sher-sug taiyg. In the religious-mythological consciousness, its specific personification was the spirit-masters of the mountains — tag eezi, and the water spirits — sug eezi. This worldview was due to the natural landscape of the territory in which they live. It features a mountainous terrain with a range of diverse water bodies — the streams, rivers, lakes, etc. The daily domestic life and economic activities of the ethnic community in question were directly related to them. It is argued that in the worldview of the people, connection between the human and nature goes beyond the framework of rational interaction. They were convinced of the close mystical interrelation of natural objects with the life and well-being of people. One of the common ways to maintain a steady balanced relationship between them was the rituals of sacrifice and celebration of these supernatural beings. It was found that in the cult practice of the Kyzyls, the sher-sug taiyg included two or even three specialized rites — tag / kol / sug taiyg, which were closely interconnected with each other and formed a single ritual complex. This sacralized event was held on a regular basis. It had a collective nature with a strictly defined structure, incorporating the leader and other immediate participants, as well as the victim themselves.

The paper analyzes the cargo turnover of the seaports of the Caspian basin, examines the main seaports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, assesses the features of their port facilities, and their importance for the country’s transport potential. The study also comprises the analysis of the indicators of the transshipment of cargo in the seaport of Aktau, of its railway and maritime infrastructure, the SWOT analysis of the railways at the approaches to the port. The port’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as key forms of interaction between rail and sea transport and their sphere of effective use have been identified. It is shown that the technical capacity of the port and port rail facilities plays a considerable role in ensuring the further growth of cargo turnover of Kazakhstan’s ports. Main tasks of the optimal interaction of rail and sea transport at the port transport hub are formulated. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop a model for the rational interaction between the port facilities and railways in order to increase their capacity, reduce the downtime of wagons and locomotives at stations and berths, as well as to reduce the cost of rail transportation within the port.

This study’s objectives were: (1) to describe and explore the ethical dilemmas surrounding the HIV-positive person in the workplace in South Africa; and (2) to describe the Rational Interaction for Moral Sensitivity (RIMS) approach as a possible mechanism for solving these ethical dilemmas. A qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research design was used. The target populations were HIV-positive employees and occupational health nurses working for a South African company. Data collected through individual HIV-positive employee interviews and occupational health nurse workgroups were analysed. The ethical dilemmas were conceptualized and described within the theoretical framework of the principles of ethics, namely, autonomy, beneficence, justice and confidentiality. To elicit a solution to the dilemmas, the data were recontextualized using the RIMS approach, a group decision-making strategy designed for the business environment.
