The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the effectiveness of educational variables in the scientific text on the reading comprehension of Islamic Azad University students. The sample group consisted of students studying in the East Tehran branch, 360 of whom were selected by random sampling. To make the text, a raw text unfamiliar and unrelated to the subjects of the students was used, and then, according to the objectives of the project, educational variables were used for each project. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study did not confirm the effectiveness of text type on students' reading comprehension. The result was not in line with previous findings and research. The study recommends that people dealing with psychology and education should have a clear understanding of the learning process Keywords: Text, educational variable, reading comprehension, text organization, university students

Numerous studies demonstrated that the meaning-making of scientific knowledge is affected by the design of multimodal science texts. Various modes are co-operated together in certain inter-semiotic mechanisms to produce meaning in multimodal texts. Based on this perspective, this research seeks to investigate the effect of mode level in science texts and compositional arrangement on the meaning-making of science concepts and processes. In this context, four science texts with the same content (transformation of energy) at different mode densities and two science texts with the same content (covalent bonding) one of which is arranged in accordance with variation theory of learning are designed. By using the case study method, this research explored six experienced science teachers’ views about the effects of mode level and multimodal text composition on meaning-making. The data were collected with semi-structured interviews. The thematic analysis was employed for data analysis. The findings demonstrated that mode density may affect meaning-making and so learning since different modes have affordance to represent different meaning and meaning relationship types. Besides, multimodal text composition may foreground the critical aspects of content, and help to design a coherent multimodal science text.

This paper addresses the usefulness of leading edge serrations for reducing aerofoil self-noise over a wide range of angles of attack. Different serration geometries are studied over a range of Reynolds number [Formula: see text]. Design guidelines are proposed that permit noise reductions over most angles of attack. It is shown that serration geometries reduces the noise but adversely effect the aerodynamic performance suggesting that a trade-off should be sought between these two considerations. The self-noise performance of leading edge serrations has been shown to fall into three angle of attack (AoA) regimes: low angles where the flow is mostly attached, moderate angles where the flow is partially to fully separated, and high angles of attack where the flow is fully separated. Leading edge serrations have been demonstrated to be effective in reducing noise at low and high angles of attack but ineffective at moderate angles. The noise reduction mechanisms are explored in each of three angle regimes.

This article is a contribution to the study of the automorphism groups of 3-[Formula: see text] designs. Let [Formula: see text] be a non-trivial 3-[Formula: see text] design. If a two-dimensional projective linear group [Formula: see text] acts flag-transitively on [Formula: see text], then [Formula: see text] is a 3-[Formula: see text] or 3-[Formula: see text] design.

Due to their important applications to coding theory, cryptography, communications and statistics, combinatorial [Formula: see text]-designs have attracted lots of research interest for decades. The interplay between coding theory and [Formula: see text]-designs started many years ago. It is generally known that [Formula: see text]-designs can be used to derive linear codes over any finite field, and that the supports of all codewords with a fixed weight in a code also may hold a [Formula: see text]-design. In this paper, we first construct a class of linear codes from cyclic codes related to Dembowski-Ostrom functions. By using exponential sums, we then determine the weight distribution of the linear codes. Finally, we obtain infinite families of [Formula: see text]-designs from the supports of all codewords with a fixed weight in these codes. Furthermore, the parameters of [Formula: see text]-designs are calculated explicitly.

The stage performance of Langbodo, a play, which Nigerian dramatist Wale Ogunyemi adapted from Soyinka’s The Forest of a Thousand Daemons, which, in turn, is a translation of D. O. Fagunwa’s prose, Ògbójú Ọdẹ Nínú Igbó Irúnmalẹ̀. 'The bold hunter in the daemon-infested forest', exposed the limitation of the text as a bearer of meaning in the theatrical adaptation context. The limitation is analysed in this work to justify the centrality of adaptation in bridging the text-design-audience semiotic gap. This study examines the technical challenges of theatre design in D. O. Fagunwa’s works resulting from their adaptation as drama. The Yoruba apothegmatic idiom, Ẹnu ‘dùn ń rò’fọ́, agada ọwọ́ ṣeé ṣán’ko (which means, literally, that ‘vegetable soup can be prepared orally if a mere hand suffices for a cutlass’), a traditional derision for the inadequacies of the text, and the Barthesian notion of intertextuality serve as a dual theoretical structure in this study. A combination of methodologies including participant observation and ethnographic approach suffice for the retrieval and analysis of performance materials, respectively. Therefore, the study contends that the process of stage adaptation in Wale Ogunyemi’s play, Langbodo, used the technical contributions of theatre design, as a catalyst for connecting Fagunwa’s ideas to the final audience.

Thing. The article discusses the results of the emotional and aesthetic perception of art paintings by 80 students of three faculties of the Ural State Medical University. The correlation between the paintings of the Ural artists and the emotional status of students and their temperament is studied according to the classification of the psycho-emotional state of a person by color, individual characteristics according to the Eysenck technique and Susan Dellinger geometric test. An analysis of the results made it possible to substantiate the psychological characteristics of the personalities of the future generation of doctors. The goal is the analysis and assessment of color preference based on the type of temperament and personal qualities of students of the three faculties using the works of contemporary Ural artists. Methodology. The study was conducted at the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry and Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases of the Ural State Medical University, where in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year a traditional annual exhibition of paintings by modern Ural artists was held. The study was divided into four stages: at the first - search-theoretical - a review and analysis of the literature on keywords was carried out on the resources PubMed, Medline, Cochrane, Elibrary, Cyberleninka; on the second - experimental search - the goal and objectives of the study are set, the criteria are identified; on the third - empirical - diagnostics of the emotional status of the questioned students was carried out according to the classification of the psychoemotional state of the personality according to color perception, testing using two Eysenck techniques, an additional psychogeometric test was conducted to determine the psychotype of the participants in the survey; on the fourth - taxation-based - a description and systematization of the materials obtained, their processing and analysis, text design of the article are carried out. Conclusions. The results of the study can be applied in educational work in the educational process of the university and supplemented by master classes of artists at exhibitions for students.
