The Social-Moral Pedagogical Message of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Taking into account the specificity of the pedagogical message in the teaching of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in the field of social-moral upbringing, the author recalls the arguments confirming its objective and timeless value. Striving for a synthetic view of the actuality and attractiveness of the Primate’s pedagogical thought, he draws attention to the following: What kind of man and teacher was Primate Stefan Wyszyński? How did he understand the essence of social-moral upbringing? Where are the roots of such an understanding of upbringing? What functions did he ascribe to it? Finally, what does he have to propose to contemporary theoreticians and practitioners of upbringing? The publication draws conclusions of a generalizable and applied nature.

Silicon micro-strip detectors are fundamental tools for the high energy physics. Each detector is formed by a large set of parallel narrow strips of special surface treatments (diode junctions) on a slab of very high quality silicon crystals. Their development and use required a large amount of work and research. A very synthetic view is given of these important components and of their applications. Some details are devoted to the basic subject of the track reconstruction in silicon strip trackers. Recent demonstrations substantially modified the usual understanding of this argument.

Purpose: The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on e-commerce sales has been perceived from different points of view. This study focuses on changes in the usage of auction vignette factors on one of the most successful sales platforms, Allegro, at three points in time during the pandemic, considered as the pre-pandemic, deep-pandemic, and post-pandemic state. Design/methodology/approach: The research study uses 3 samples of offers – 320 for the 1st point in time, 259 for the 2nd point in time, and 303 for the 3rd point in time—in the category of Samsung S10 smartphones to determine the changes among the presentation factors belonging to the offers. 22 factors and 5 indexes were examined. Findings: The results show substantial changes in the usage of factors such as shipping cost, the increased importance of “Buy Now” auctions, platform currency, and the decreased importance of “Bid” auctions. The indexes were also proposed in order to adopt a synthetic view of the factor groupings. The shipping index was pointed out as one factor that may be affected by the pandemic. Research limitations/implications: The sampling technique limited the study to a preselected category of smartphones. The category was biased by the use of a non-category brand. Non-category items were removed from the data used. Other limitations include ambiguities involved in the assignment of the factors. Originality/value: The contribution of this study is its examination of a frequently omitted area of factors that buyers use as a first choice when selecting an offer. The uniqueness of the study is covered by the point in time used in the study, i.e. deep-pandemic. Other points in time were based on the announcements of the government of Poland.

Abstract — The Mauléon basin, in the northwestern Pyrenean belt, is related to Early Cretaceous rifting and continental breakup. Here we review the evolution of depositional environments in the hyperextended Mauléon rift basin during Albian and Cenomanian time. This review includes the lithostratigraphy, regional distribution, boundaries, age and facies sedimentology of the basin’s syn-rift formations and their members. We construct paleogeographic maps to elucidate (1) the 3D distribution of sedimentary facies and depositional environments during the Albian and Cenomanian from the Iberian proximal margin to the hyperextended domain and (2) the link between major extensional structures and sedimentation during rifting and continental breakup. The Mauléon rift was supplied during most of the Albian by sediments from the Iberian proximal margin. The southern margin had a steep and abrupt topographic boundary related to a northward crustal rollover along the south-dipping Saint-Palais detachment. This feature controlled the deposition of base-of-slope conglomerates at the base of the margin that abruptly gave way to low-density turbidites, then hemipelagic deposits in the hyperextended domain. During latest Albian to Early Cenomanian time, continental breakup occurred in the eastern Mauléon basin and the vergence of the detachment systems reversed. Minor debris-flow deposits formed at the foot of fault scarps associated with the newly formed north-dipping detachments. Elsewhere, sediment from deltaic systems to the west in the Saint-Jean-de-Luz area deposited low-density turbidites in the hyperextended domain. During the post-rift stage, the flux of coarse sediment from the detachment footwall gradually declined as deformation waned, and low-density turbidites expanded onto the hyperextended domain from the European Late Cretaceous carbonate platform. These paleogeographic reconstructions, in addition to offering a synthetic view of the evolution of sedimentary environments during rifting, offer new insight into the post-rifting exhumation of the lower crust and mantle.

This paper deals with safety-critical, high-power actuation in aerospace applications. Using a system-level synthetic view, it identifies, explains and discusses the reasons why electrically supplied, or power-by-wire, solutions have not spread rapidly enough to become a generalized replacement of the conventional, hydraulically supplied ones. Once the actuation needs have been summarized, the drawbacks of conventional actuation and the merits of electrically supplied actuation are listed and analyzed. Then, the challenges to be met in order to mitigate the intrinsic disadvantages of power-by-wire are addressed in detail with a focus on the solutions under development or research. Numerous examples, numerical data and orders of magnitude are provided to support the discussion.

Corporate governance of companies is a hot topic for both researchers and practitioners since the last decades. The investigations on this theme revealed the presence of many different approaches and practices in the decision-making process and managing companies among different countries. This paper is focused on Italy, where distinctive features of corporate governance can be identified (i.e., with regard to the ownership structure of companies) due to the peculiar legal and industrial framework in which Italian companies operate. The contribution of the paper is to further shed light on the historical background of the Italian industrial sector that made the Italian industrial system slightly different from the other countries and to give a comprehensive, but synthetic, view of the corporate governance of Italian listed companies. Current and further researches needed are also commented on and suggested

The article presents a synthetic view of civic activity in the context of a theoretical model of social participation, according to which participation as an experience of a person is constituted by: subjective justification, axiological content, sense of agency and experi-ence of participation. Among the theoretical foundations of the model is Karol Wojtyła’s theory of participation, based on his concept of a person, operationalized for the purposes of the qualitative sociological research from which the model was derived. In this study, the model is a tool enabling the presentation and explanation of the essence of civic activity as a subjective action in the community of civic life. This allows us to look at this activity from the side of the privileged area in terms of strengthening and manifesting subjectivi-ty, developed on the basis of civic values recognized as personally significant, having the status of common good.
