The pandemic has led us to a multitude of activities we have not done before. For me, this included hour-long walks around my new neighborhood every day, rain or shine. Before the pandemic, my “walks” were directed, as my goal was to get to work, not “have a walk.” Now, these walks are an integral part of my thinking—to both clear my mind and to learn. I listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and sometimes nothing at all. I have taken to very intentional looking on my walks, noticing the details on the houses, dreaming of what they might look like on the inside, watching the weather change and the plant life die and emerge again. I have also been noting the signs that pop up from my unknown neighbors in the form of yard signs, chalk drawings, flags with notes, unintended detritus, snowmen (and women) and artworks. I look down a lot now as well. I notice what is at my feet. I am endlessly fascinated with sidewalk documents. The obvious ones are wonderful, such as children’s drawings and little fairy (and dinosaur) scenes. But the cement stamps have really captured my attention. What stories do these sidewalks have to tell? What follows is a set of collages, documentation of documents I found on the ground during my pandemic walks—from the plant world, to the fairy world, to the seemingly mundane world of cement pouring. What emerged became a colorful and telling assortment of stories, both made up and real.

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is associated with weather change. The study aimed to investigate if weather change was among the risk factors of coronary artery disease to influence AMI occurrence in Taiwan and to generate a model to predict the probabilities of AMI in specific weather and clinical conditions.Method: This observational study utilized the National Health Insurance Research Database and daily weather reports from Taiwan Central Weather Bureau to evaluate the discharge records of patients diagnosed with AMI from various hospitals in Taiwan between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011. Generalized additive models (GAMs) were used to estimate the effective parameters on the trend of the AMI incidence rate with respect to the weather and health factors in the time-series data and to build a model for predicting AMI probabilities.Results: A total of 40,328 discharges were listed. The minimum temperature, maximum wind speed, and antiplatelet therapy were negatively related to the daily AMI incidence; however, a drop of 1° when the air temperature was below 15°C was associated with an increase of 1.6% of AMI incidence. By using the meaningful parameters including medical and weather factors, an estimated GAM was built. The model showed an adequate correlation in both internal and external validation.Conclusion: An increase in AMI occurrence in colder weather has been evidenced in the study, but the influence of wind speed remains uncertain. Our analysis demonstrated that the novel GAM model can predict daily onset rates of AMI in specific weather conditions.

Which is started dependent on low essentialness coming about due to dust accumulating and high temperature conditions. This was attempted by presenting two indistinct photovoltaic modules close to one another. The fundamental unit was equipped with a model of the cleaning structure while the resulting unit was seen as standard. An upgraded cleaning and cooling methodology are gotten with the data acquiring structure. Abstract Condensation inside marine containers occurs during voyages owing to weather changes. In this study, we define the condensation probability along one of the major routes for container ships between Asia and Europe. First, the inside and outside air conditions were measured on land in Japan, and a correlation analysis was conducted to derive their relationship. Second, onboard measurements were conducted for 20,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) ships to determine the variation in outside air conditions. Complicated patterns of weather change were observed with changes in latitude, sea area, and season. Third, condensation probability was estimated based on a multi-regression analysis with land and onboard measured data. The maximum condensation probability in westbound or eastbound voyages in winter was found to be approximately 50%. The condensation probability estimation method established in this study can contribute to the quantification of cargo damage risks for the planning of marine container transportation voyages.

Weather change such as raining is a crucial factor to cause traffic congestion, especially in metropolises with the limited sewer system infrastructures. Identifying the roads which are sensitive to weather changes, defined as weather-sensitive roads (WSR), can facilitate the infrastructure development. In the literature, little research focused on studying weather factors of developing countries that might have deficient infrastructures. In this research, to fill the gap, the real-world data associating with Jakarta, Indonesia, was studied to identify WSR based on smartphone sensor data, real-time weather information, and road characteristics datasets. A spatial-temporal congestion speed matrix (STC) was proposed to illustrate traffic speed changes over time. Under the proposed STC, a sequential clustering and classification framework was applied to identify the WSR in terms of traffic speed. In this work, the causes of WSR were evaluated based on the variables’ importance of the classification method. The experimental results show that the proposed method can cluster the roads according to the pattern changes in the traffic speed caused by weather change. Based on the results, we found that the distances to shopping malls, mosques, schools, and the roads’ altitude, length, width, and the number of lanes are highly correlated to WSR in Jakarta.

The transformations of synoptic processes and severe weather events that sometimes accompany them occur near the extremes (maxima and minima) of tidal fluctuations in the Earth’s angular velocity. A graph of tidal fluctuations in the Earth’s angular velocity for 2021 is presented. The extremes of tidal fluctuations in the Earth’s angular velocity for 2021 are identified and their calendar dates are determined. On these dates, the transformation of synoptic processes and sometimes hydrometeorological hazards may be expected. The case of catastrophic icing in the Vladivostok area during the extreme on November 18, 2020 is described.
